I voted Sony because they killed SEGA.
SEGA fans might be one the saddest bunches out there holy shit... Sony didn't kill SEGA. SEGA killed SEGA.

One company made stupid decision after stupid decision and failed product after failed product while the other catered to devs and made a product that people actually wanted to buy.

I agree. Peter Moore said the DC was still doing well in the US. They had 2K sports, they could have ported GTA3/Vice City and make the franchise accessible with a bundle under $250. The Dreamcast was time proof in terms of IQ on modern TV and had untapped power.(NBA 2K2002, Virtua Fighter 4 Dreamcast, Panzer Dragoon Orta...)

It could have survived and sold a little bit.(It didn't need to be leader, we just asked more great games)

Atari. The 2600 was god-tier. The Lynx was wasted potential. Everything else was pure shit, capping the shit-heap with the shitfuck of all shitfucks: The Atari Shitfucking Jaguar.

Now get off my lawn.

Sony consoles have always had atrocious build quality, and they used the same garbage ass controller for three generations.
Such bland and generic designs.
The PS5 seems to be the exception, but the games are seriously underwhelming.

All of them have done stupid crap this gen, but Microsoft has been the most destructive for their brand, and Sony has been the worst this week so far.

Objectively, this is true. We cannot pretend that Sega's demise didn't coincide with Sony's rise. A lack of funds was always Sega's Achilles' heel, preventing it from ever producing powerful consoles; in this market, there are two dogmas; strong IPs or powerful graphics, and you need at least one of them, or else you're better off not launching a console at all.

I voted for Sony.

PS1 - texture warping canceled out the other advanced capabilities of the hardware
PS2 - terrible textures, complicated architecture
PS3 - complicated architecture, high price
PS4 - loud
PS5 - clunky form factor that forces you to use a separate stand

And who the hell designed that d-pad?

Peter Moore lied; after October 2000, the Dreamcast posted absurdly low sales figures for three consecutive months , holiday season . This led to emergency meetings initiated back in 2000 that culminated in the discontinuation of the Dreamcast early 2001.
The Dreamcast was already dead; Sega simply made it official.

Even if it was true, that's not enough to kill a console... Any game can change a destiny.(Pokemon changed destiny of a console, for instance)

As of right now... all of them

Nintendo is greedy as fuck and milking their fanbase

Sony is pushing non gamer friendly policies

Microsoft doesnt know how to manage anything and thought throwing money at problems would solve it

The number of low effort threads made in 1 day from a company saying it's going to cater to over 85% of its user base is both hilarious and sad lol
Agreed. You won't believe how many threads I've put on ignore. This one included. See you on the other side!

Sony doing FOMO with the Emotion engine definitely hurt the Dreamcast's sales, and the Saturn suffered greatly from Sony signing exclusivity deals for many major third party games of that generation (Resident Evil 2 and 3,Tomb Raider 2 and 3,MGS, FF VII VIII and IX being only on PSX etc).

Guys, just stop the hate, the most desperate days of my hobby for me is buying everything there is and stop reading all shit postings on the internet, it's not the first time when that happened in the past 3 decades.

The OG Xbox and 360 were legendary. The rest is shit. Microsoft by a country mile.
Despite all the controversies I still think that the Xbox One was a better console than the PS4 . It was actually a very well built machine , the fan didn't sound like a freaking jet and Microsoft gave you a 4k blu-ray player even for the base model ( something that Sony the owner of the blue ray format didn't bother to do ).

The first few years of Gamepass ( 2017-2019 ) were actually pretty good, and the console had a lot of high quality exclusive content ( Forza Horizon 3 and 4, Forza Motorsport 7, Gears 5, Killer Instinct, The Rare Replay and Master Chief collections ) plus the backwards compatibility program was far better than the PS4s ( which was non-existent ) .

The Series X/S is a mixed bag but I would still put it above the PS5 , mainly thanks to the very impressive backwards compatibility program/ free upgrades that Microsoft gave to your old games ( Xbox Enhanced resolutions and FPS boost ).

Nintendo, gimmicks for days but behind a generation in raw power, for non-gimmicks enjoyers paying 400-500 euros for their shit tablet feel like a robbery.

Edit: oh we are talking in general not just hardware, then all 3 are pretty flawed for different reasons, like wondering about the difference between donkey shit, dog shit and cat shit.

PlayStation killed Sega; the decisions you call "stupid" are a retrospective assessment, decisions only look bad when there is something to compare them against.
