Worst jobbers in comics and big screen?

Really surprised Martian Manhunter only got 1 mention in this thread.

Kyle and Wally Stans are so stubborn, like get the fuck over it.

This guy probably belongs in here. Supposedly an immortal champion of the universe, with infinite physical stats and skilled in all fighting styles throughout the universe.

This has never actually borne out in any story he's been in

Superman in the first season of the Justice League cartoon would often get beat up pretty badly by the bad guys to show how strong the bad guy was. The writers eventually realized they were making Superman look too weak and stopped doing it as much.

Well the Champion didn't really lose in his original story. He DQd Hulk, and I think he handicapped Thor, but he did take on a bunch of other super strong characters without much of a problem. He just gave up to Thing because of his spirit and what not.

After that initial story, I'm pretty sure he just jobs around though.

I've never actually seen this dude in print, nor heard of him referred to by anyone else ever. And that design looks like something someone slapped together in study hall.

I'd say marvel should be ashamed of themselves, but they seem to be embarrassed enough already to bury all trace of the guy.

Thats entirely the point. the initial story didn't make sense either. This guy was supposedly as powerful as galactus in that story- but takes several rounds to take out the thing? Grimm has been KTFO by far less, and isn't a particularly skilled combatant either.

edit: Looked up the story on wiki again just to get my details right- Namor got DQed for refusing to train, Wonder Man got DQed for "tearing up the ring", Doc Samson got DQed for "not being skilled enough." Colossus and Sasquatch are the only ones he had legitimate wins over.

after the initial storyline, marvel downgraded him to "joke villain" status. I don't think he had a legitimate win over anyone else for the rest of his history.

Some fell in love with the Elder concept

Colossus - no matter how much they power him up, he always seems to lose.

Thor - maybe he just jobs to the hulk but a jobber is a jobber.

Galactus -
herald of Franklin richards

Ultimate Spider-Man Peter Parker. It's like every time I saw him he is getting his ass kicked and unmasked.

Yeah Vegeta. He actually trains and tries to keep up, just to get rekt by every new villain.
I don't remember whether this was in the anime or a video game, but I remember SS4 Vegeta saying somewhere

"Figures! I reach the pinnacle of Super Saiyan power, and this guy [Omega Shenron] shows up and is even stronger!"

Probably should have been used to that.

Boba Fett.

I will never understood the popularity of a main who appears in less than 20 minutes of screen time in the entire Star Wars saga only to be thrown into a sand-anus.

He's not a jobber though.

Jobbing is like Hulk after so many amazing feats and years of history, say, loses to Batman by Batman punching him in the stomach hard enough for Hulk to gasp for air, then fall unconscious from the sleep gas.

...That really happened.

He just looks bad ass. Admittedly, I'm a big fan but I will also be one of the first to admit that he's a fuckboy jobber.

Jango's cool too in my books.

Films

Wolverine - a shame, if BP is pulled off well then wow, thats gotta be embarrasing having the wolverine be such a gimp and Cap, DD, WS, and BP are on screen doing right. Those are his peers ughhh.
Stallone and Scharwzenegger - Their customary beat down they take before saving the day, the only one worth it was Commando...and Cobra!

Comics

Wolverine has been putting over completely outmatched oppenents for years now. Best for business I guess.

All DC villians including Slade , Dr Zoom , Faoro Ul and Zod :(, at least they still have Black Adam and Lobo.

Iceman jobbed to Bendis's writing

Yamcha in the original Dragon Ball was pretty much used as a Worf-level jobber, joke status in DBZ aside. In DB, Yamcha was always portrayed as a pretty capable martial artist who legitimately achieved some good feats despite being entirely self-taught (learning the Kamehameha on his own back when the move was actually unique, etc). And even based on the fights that we do see from him, he does at least hang with all of his opponents pretty well. He managed to keep up Jackie Chun, actually impresses everyone with how well he can keep up with Tien, and was able to surprise Kami with a completely unique technique.

Of course, no matter how well he does, he manages to get defeated to the point where you're like "God damn, Yamcha put up a hell of a fight and still got beat. This guy is not joke!" And all of Yamcha's opponents were literally either the main opponent of the tournament (Jackie Chun/Tien), or pretty damn up there (Kami).

In DBZ, Yamcha can't even get to the fight part without getting merked.

New 52 is essentially J'onn's revenge for all those years of jobbing.

Reminder of what Despero's status use to be

hmm I don't really remember much of her sadly

But that's Nu52 JJ

The bottom panel is from Infinite Crisis I think. Definitely pre new 52 atleast.

Deathstroke has been jobbing in everywhere but the comics (even then only sometimes, he almost lost to Batman in a spur of the moment 1 v 1. Harley had to knock Batman out) and the teen titans cartoon though. Besides 80's death stroke and Identity Crisis I don't think he's had a crazy moment. Prometheus has done way dumber stuff.

For Anti-Jobbers I think Black Adam pulls way above his weight class. Forever Evil counterbalanced that a bit, but then Johns
introduced the earth 3 Shazam counterpart who started wrecking everybody

This little buffoon in Bleach.

Still quite popular though for the life of me I can't understand why. Never delivers, ever.

God yes. Hitsugaya is ass. He couldn't even beat an Arrancar whose power was water, an element he has a clear advantage over.

He can't even claim to have the best ice-based zanpakto anymore since Rukia unlocked her broke ass Bankai.

Superboy, especially from the Young Justice cartoon was badass in his first episode but just got knocked on his ass a lot as things continued on and more characters were added. .
Never forget.

I don't think people know what jobbing means if you are using Jango and Boba Fett as examples.

They're the guys who lose in wrestling. They get fed to the stars and look bad doing it.

The senior guy gave birth to the worst bounty hunter ever. He got his head cut off. After shooting a rope at a Jedi.

The son got killed by a blind guy with a stick. Saw his father shoot a rope at a Jedi and thought it might work for him when it failed for daddy.

Both did the job.

Aphrodite of Pisces in the Legend of Santuary CGI Saint Seiya Movie from last year or so.

Dies like a bitch betrayed by the main villain, but also means that Andromeda was robbed of his big fight in a movie where he didn't get to do jackshit.

Not even close

Bested Gin
Lost to aizen
Beat Luppi
Beat shawlong after his limiter was taken off
Came to a draw against Halibel
Lost to Aizen again
Went against his own bankai and came to a draw
Lost to Bazz B while restricted to shikai
Bested Cang Du while half dead with 3 holes in his torso and a leg missing

Was only really a draw because Aizen killed her before the fight ended. Otherwise, he would most likely have lost.

Yamcha isn't a jobber. Yamcha was never considered strong. The real answer is every Z fighter bar Goku and Gohan. Vegeta in particular is a good one. Has he ever actually beaten anyone without eventually losing afterwards and needing helping from some other character?

Even considering the fact that she didn't take damage at that time. Hitsugaya effectively concluded the fight by encasing her in ice that she could neither melt with Hivernierdo(her only attack that gives off heat), nor escape from with her own strength

I remember he usually beats the 2nd strongest villain then loses to the main guy.

Not sure about Buu or Baby.

A jobber doesn't have to be strong or considered a threat. Like Yamcha did great jobbing to android 20, sold his unique ability of having no ki signature and established the old man as a no nonsense villain.

Ok, Yamcha obviously can't go toe-to-toe with the biggest contenders, but I still think he'd hypothetically be a competent member of The Justice League or able to take down villains that aren't on as ridiculous of a level as the ones from his own universe.

I think if Yamcha were in Justice League, he'd be part of the B-tier. Not Superman, Flash, or Martian Manhunter level, but someone you'd pick over 80% or more of the other guys. Street level and even city busters aren't really going to challenge him. (Considering he's much stronger than he was when the Saibaman beat him.)

His powers are very cool conceptually, he's a child prodigy strong enough to become a captain, and he has what is canonically the strongest ice-type zanpakuto. I think people love him on principle rather than on merit.

.

Yup, basically because huis dogma is that he looks like a kid people don't expect him to be a badass and yet he is, people love subversion of tropes in this situation, like when old people in anime are actually one of the strongest in the show.
