Wrath of the Lich King - 11/13/08

Having some fun on the PTR with 3.0.

They're taunting me with Fan of Blades and some other neat 71+ skills that I can't learn yet, but the new talents are definitely opening up some interesting possibilities. I completely solo'd Hellfire Ramparts (Normal) with my rogue. :)

I had to pop a potion on Nazzan, but that was about it. Evasion + Unfair Advantage = Win!

And I know Lich King has even more goodies awaiting me. Nov. 13th can't come soon enoug!
 
So is the 13th a shipdate or a street date? That will mean it's released either on a Thursday or Friday.

Here's hoping for a 12am Friday release so I can just wall myself up away from the world for the full weekend.

I'd be shocked if this was available for digital download at release. Activision would have a lot of explaining to do to retailers.

On the NeoGAF front page, there is an option for browser formatting for 800x600. Try it, it's the button on the top right of the page.

It's about damn time they announced the CE. Now I have to go reserve it somewhere.

I figured it'd be either a baby polar bear, penguin, or Forst Wyrm pet, and I'm glad they went with the dragon to be honest :D
 
Hopefully they make enough of these things so it isn't hard to find. I got very lucky last year and was able to get the Burning Crusade CE, but I don't want LUCK to be the only deciding factor in getting it.

They made a lot of them for Burning Crusade. It wasn't hard at all to get one of them. The original one was fairly rare from what I understand (I had mine preordered).

I want to say it was $80 for both the original and BC:CE and I imagine it will be the same for Wrath. In my opinion it is one of the few collector's editions that are worth it.

Well CE isnt that hard to find if you make sure to order one now. You probably wont be able to get one at the midnight sale though because its probably going to the two or three guys that already formed a line that afternoon.
 
I just happened to be online when they made the pre-orders available last year and snagged a few (One for me, one for my Mom, and one for my brother). I know people who waited to the last minute, though, who weren't able to find copies.

I'll be hitting 70 with him some time in the next week. I don't think I've got enough time between now and November 13th to do everything I want to do with him in Outlands.

Things I'd still like to do:

1. Get epic flyer - got one on my Hunter and I don't think I can live without it. It'll require me to do some heavy mining for a couple of weeks to come up with the $$$$

2. Run Kara - still have not gotten to do that at all, but I know there are some gear requirements. Not sure if I can get geared up to do Kara, much less any of the other BC raids.

3. Run all the BC instances. Its tough to find anyone to do any non-heroic instance these days, and I most definitely won't be geared up enough to run heroics when I ding 70.

And really...I'm asking myself, what's the point of trying to get geared up this late in the game anyway?

I'm just not sure what I should focus on in Burning Crusade since we're down to the last month or so of that expansion. Outlands will be a ghost town come November 13th.

Maybe I'll just get this toon to 70, grind out the cash for an epic flyer and then quit until the expansion arrives.

get your flyer and pick up some pvp epics/maybe run kara or something for some gear if you want. on the PTR the beginning of northrend is pretty easy you should be ok with your fresh to 70 gear, but you'll get along quicker with a few upgrades.
 
If Northrend is anything like Outland, you'll wind up getting some amazing gear upgrades from the very early questlines as soon as you zone in. There's probably no reason for you to go out of your way to gear for WOTLK.
 
Why can't I create a DeathKnight on the PTR (I have my 70 copied over)? The icon is there but grayed out. I'm guessing this is just the new engine, but without WotLK content?

Death Knights are in the expansion, not the upcoming patch.

Yeah I was just confused as to why the loading screen said Wrath of the Lich King. Didn't realize they added locked expansion content prior to the release.
 
Yeah, the PTR is just testing the patch that will come out prior to WotLK. Basically, it is the game that people will see who don't buy the expansion.

PTR is just patch 3.0. Which will be released before the expansion.

If my girlfriend will let me, I'll probably join up for a month or two again when this comes out. My friend is a gold re-seller and I let him have my account to store gold after I quit after getting bored... so I had to start over for whatever the new one was called. Quit after hitting 70 but the account is still able to be recovered or whatever. It's a fun diversion for a month or two though.
 
Need to finish leveling my Pally to 70, then hopefully I can hold onto it and not sell it like I've done with the past 7 accounts I've had. Then when Wrath comes out, I'll roll a DK and I'll be good between those two toons.

Dunno if I'll get the CE or not though.

Loving the beta so far though, the changes to the Pally is the only thing keeping me around.

Or he is just freed from the shit inside him and we kill whatever is in him as the last phase, freeing arthas.

How much does a typical WoW account go for? Curious. I sold my EQ account/items back in the day and made out well but this was probably 6 years ago by now at least.

My friend sold his old Warlock decked in T4 gear about 8 months ago for $650.

Not too bad. I got about $4500 out of my account/items, but that was after 2+ years of playing a lot so I didn't exactly make much on a per hour basis, but I was pretty pleased to get anything out of it. I more or less wasted a few years of high school, but oh well what can ya do. :lol

Surprised? He must've been playing a lot and had lots of toons decked out in epics to fetch that price, but it's not out of the realm of possibility. My friend's brother sold his 70 Paladin in full S3 gear + the Arena netherdrake for a good $2000.

Yes I'm surprised. $4500 equals the amount of money many families have combined. Sometimes less.

People who sell and buy accounts are effectively trading time for money. There's worse things to spend money on. Like, say, a Porsche. That's just conspicuous waste.
 
I'll be preordering the collector's edition x2 (2 accounts in the house). I haven't wasted the time before, but I want that mouse pad and those TCG card might have something special. :lol
