WWDC10 Thread of iPhones and iProducts galore

okay. eating my hat. Safari Reader is quite awesome, and reminds me with an old FF extension that offered like functionality.

A+++. now copy it Firefox!
 
Damn...if Apple would've just approved that Google Voice app, I would have a VERY hard choice on to go with the iPhone 4 or another Android phone at the end of the year. :(

yes im pretty sure you can just select a plan when you pre order.
 
Oh, come on. Is the developer site supposed to take hours before being up again? I have to go to bed, 1:30AM here.
 
I really can't wait to see this screen in person. I want this phone so badly, but I won't switch to ATT for it. I'll probably try and get my hands on an unlocked version.
 
i can already think of the first big extension for Safari -

a widget that appears when you hover your cursor over the content that Safari Reader rips to, wait for it, activate Safari Reader. brilliant!

also - Apple better bring Reader to iOS4. this screams 'made for iphone'

you can merge tabs back into one window.

under “window” menu item.

but, yeah, you can’t split tabs like chrome and have all tabs past a specified one split off into new window. you need to do that manually

When do you think we will find out how much RAM this phone has? As a new ipad owner I'd be pissed if this phone ends up having more ram than an ipad, yet at the same time, I think the phone needs more than 256MB.
 
I'm still pissed that it seems to only be iphone to iphone with an advanced upgrade, I want to give att more money and they don't want it. I'm eligible in november

Will be interesting to see how that gets converted to 720p video then. Should look good, but I still think I'd prefer to edit the video on a faster chip even if iMovie on the iPhone 4 is super slick.

in the facetime it says u only need wifi, but it also works if ur already on the call with somebody my question is.
will this go through telephone lines or is like an app like skype..?

Yeah you can, go to View -> Show Tab Bar so it's always showing.

When the tab bar is off and all the windows have no tabs, the only way you can put them back together is Window -> Merge All Windows.
 
Okay, so I'm using safari, but I hate how there isnt a keybinding to get to the search bar (its apple+k in FF) is there any way to change this?

Also, I hate how I cannot just use a keyword search in the url bar ala Chrome or Firefox. I had it so anything without www or .com in the firefox URL bar was a google search result for 'i'm feeling lucky.' Can anyone tell me how to change this?

video is transferred via wifi but it still needs the phone line for the voice communication and for connecting the call in the first place.

presumably, other apps, like skype, can tap into the camera and use it for their apps too.

one other big feature I miss in Chrome (that is available in FF): 3-finger swipe to move to the very top or bottom of a page.

very handy on Gaf when you have 50-100 posts/page and want to get to the top or bottom fast.
 
I kinda want to see what these neon-colored "bumpers" look like on the black model of phone. Naturally they look their best with the white version, but I just want to see how garish it becomes to pair these neon-colored strips of plastic with the black glass beauty.

Oh, and "helicopter windshield-grade glass" + Apple-made accessories = "screw you, case developers!" Cases now become a purely cosmetic gesture to differentiate your phone from everyone else's.
 
Safari 5 is nice, but I can't see myself switching to it from Chrome any time soon. Can't wait for an extension that mimics the 'reader' functionality, though.

so the minutes will go from your account, ah man thats to bad i actually though this was just something like skupe you could leave on all day for free.

4.0 GM require 9.2 iTune lol... don't forget to get that BEFORE installing 4.0 GM (even though it's ok if you install it afterwards also)

yeah, but my point is that other apps can use the camera and it ends up being available to you all day for free…

apple had to make the facetime app compatible with their phone app. but 3rd party IM apps can always work the way you want with the camera.

with the added benefit of the other person not needing a second iPhone 4 to get the video going (presumably)

this just means itunes 9.2 is coming out super soon. sweet.

You can do this with JiTouch2 easily. I am at least :D.

edit: well I'll be damned. if I had just looked at BetterTouchTool for more than 5 minutes, I would have figured out how to do this long ago.

BTT-->Preferences-->Select Application-->Safari-->Add New Gesture-->

3 finger swipe up-->"Home (beginning of the page)"

3 finger swipe down-->"End (end of the page)"

and voilia. even looks better than firefox's, which just instantly jumps where Safari has that smooth transition to the top.
 
Any of the Canadian carrier's made any announcements yet? I'm hoping Sasktel will get the iPhone when it launches, but if they don't I guess I'll just have to stick with Roger's.
