XB1 Elite Controller ($150)

This is probably a standard price for a proper scuff controller, not sure what all the reactions of shock are about.

I think people were hoping because it was MS it would be subsidized a bit. SCUF's range form $100-150 now. However, I bet the MS Elite is going to be far better made.

The price is still cheaper than a Scuff. Most pro COD players use those. I'm still interested in this sexy thing. Don't know if I'll buy though ...

Are you serious? What about the hyper-competitive world of fighting games where people spend much more for sticks or how about racing games where people spend even more for wheels?

Yeah but at this level? This is Microsoft endorsed and has button mapping capability. It will be WAY more widespread now than ever before.

So it's not the same as some 3rd party 200 dollar controller that no one heard of. This is being announced to millions around the world.

Is it really that hard to understand?

The reaction of shock is because people who probably have never cared about an elite controller saw something they liked and wanted to purchase, but are turned off by the high pricetag.

You can argue that the controller is for the elite gaming market, but they announced it at E3, which gets the attention of a far less exclusive crowd than the elite, competitive gamers, and only announced the price afterwards.

Obviously, Microsoft expected people to be turned off by the price or they would have announced it.

Is there even a game that's worth paying playing with such controller?

It's not like fighting game arcade stick right?

Seriously , what are they thinking selling it for 150$

Pretty much every single first person shooter will be better with this controller.

I had a very similar controller(grip buttons) I used years ago on the original Xbox called the FPS controller. It did wonders for me in Halo as you never have to take your thumbs off the stick. So you can reload aim and jump all at the same time. Makes a big difference in competitive games.

Yikes, sticker shock.

But in fairness, people regularly drop $130-$300 for pairs of gaming headphones, and a controller is a more integral and omnipresent component of the gaming experience than those.

For me if it is as good as it sounds then that price is justified.

My question more is the ability to customize the buttons and all the extra stuff this offers. Can we make profiles for each game? Or is it Global? There still a lot of questions about it, but it looks good and the potential seems interesting. I do hope that it does drop in price a little but, at least $129.99 or so.

Fuck I want this.. But this shit is half the price of a Wii U.

$150 is a bit too much. But if the insurance/replacement program at best buy is still $12 every 2 years, I'm in. I haven't bought a new ds4 with this program.. I just replace it when I feel like it

I really want this

They are insane. Seems like their hardware people needed something to do and the project just kept getting bigger and they could not contain the costs or something.

I dunno, I think you're vastly overstating the difference it makes when some of the most skilled players play on fighting pads or even bog standard pads. People have been able to spend for controller converter devices for years now. If you value your physical interface and connection to the games you play, you'll find a way to save up for a better input device. This one seems amazingly nice because it works natively for X1 and Windows(10), so its value will be for two platform's worth of games. You get what you pay for, right? It's not a 'win button' situation, IMO.

$150 and I cant switch the left stick and d-pad to their correct positions ?

They're still in the correct spots for Microsoft consoles. Man where have you been living the past 10 years bro, I would think most people would know where the left stick and dpad are by now on MS consoles.

$150 is a joke though. Unless it comes packed in with the console at like $350 it's not worth it (to me).

RE: "Other companies have been selling competitive edge controllers so it's OK for MS to do the same thing," wouldn't this be along the lines of MS supporting a pay-to-win model? I mean, I have my doubts about the effectiveness of these controllers, but if it really does take your game to the next level then isn't MS directly penalizing those who choose not to pay an exorbitant amount on a peripheral?

controllers like this: http://avengercontroller.com/ have existed for almost a decade now

so you've always had to play against these people

Holy shit lol... this thread is delivering big time for me! That product/site is amazing!

Gaming culture is weird sometimes, huh?

the scuffs with the trigger stops and 4 pedals round dpad are $143 though. There is no savings.

you are forgetting the grips

the replaced sticks

ah shit i know what i did... i accidentally chose a colored option

but it's still cheaper

As if the $75 sticker on the controller and play and charge bundle wasn't greedy enough and giving them a huge margin, they come out with this thing at $150.

Defending that price tag is just ridiculous. Regardless of what features or advantages it offers, it's grossly overpriced and exploitative of the consumer base.

Would've bought, maybe, at $99. $150 is the wrong price for me. I can't buy this and encourage this pricepoint for ordinary players.

I'm sure competitive players will buy it in droves if it gives any gameplay advantage in FPS, which is looks like it does.

wow, really? I can't handle a little bit of consumer choice being framed in this way, I seriously just can't.

I think £50 ($50) is too expensive but knew this would be more expensive but £100 more???

I know there is a very small niche market for these controllers but a cheaper price would have sold more.

this has put a small dent in their conference for me. I hope they reconsider the price.
