XB1 Elite Controller ($150)

This whole thread is non-enthusiasts basically saying that enthusiasts gear is worthless even though they have never used any or competed on a high level (admittedly).

Its very strange...

People arent saying it's useless. They are saying it's too expensive. The fact is, this wasnt marketed to competitive gamers. It was marketed during E3 with the expensive price tag not so surprisingly left out.

Isn't that more expensive then a replacement Wii U gamepad. Maybe Microsoft wanted bragging rights for having the most expensive controller.

I know there is a difference since the Wii U pad is needed and the elite is an option.

Define "good"...

We are talking about competitively play here. My KB/M/Mousepad combo is over 300 easily.

what do you have for this price ?
Good is better than average, competitive but not pro gear (ie "serious" gamers I guess. not top5 esport team)
And just because MS said it was competitive doesn't mean it is lol. In the end it's still a XB1 with some customisation

I was in if it was Sub $100....

$150 dawg....

I can buy a Collectors Edition of a game for that price....or a Fightstick....

This ain't for me...

Well, I spent $200 on wireless headphones for the Xbox One, so I guess I can't scoff at $150 for what looks to be the best controller ever made.

Day 1

This was the most exciting thing for me at E3 so far, and then they announced the price. I get that it's a nice, premium products, but I can't justify paying $150 for a controller that isn't an arcade stick.

you sure about that?

the announcement trailer:

"introducing an elite controller for elite gamers"

"pro-level precision"

Was initially happy I only had one xb1 controller but this is definitely out of my comfort zone for mindless purchases.

what would you use more often? If you are willing to buy an arcade stick for 1 game but poo poo this thing, well dunno. If I had the money and a Xbone I'd go for it.

Too expensive compared to what? Seriously... What are you comparing it too? Other scuff controllers for the xbox1?

Wait, so the button remapping is done through software, and they're locking that out for anyone who doesn't buy the $150 controller? A feature which has been requested for ages, needed for disabled gamers, standard on PC and PS4, and they're making everyone pay $150 if they want it.

Classy!

And people said MS learned their lesson after E3 2013...

Apparently too expensive to meet the demand of a lot of consumers. Clearly, a lot of people were interested in the controller, so it filled a niche for them, but were then turned off by the price.

Why would you compare the price of a custom built, 3rd party controller with no first party competition to one that will be mass produced by Microsoft?

Firstly, the bold part is exactly what differentiates stock gear with enthusiast gear when talking about controllers.

I have a Corsiar K95/M95 combination and a Steelseries gaming pad. I wouldn't trade them for anything (espeically the keyboard... the Gpad is crucial)

"The most basic option is the ability to reassign controller buttons wherever a user desires—and because this change exists on the controller itself as opposed to within the console's settings, Microsoft engineers insist that this will reduce any lag issues caused by button reassignments."

Knew there was a reason they didn't announce the price during the conference. Would have been laughed off or met with silence.
