XB1 Elite Controller ($150)

At times like this, it really is a reflection of the Neogaf user base.

Either this site is full of children with no income, people living at the poverty line, or those who will never earn more than the minimum wage.

The amount of people crying over a $150 is eye opening.

Guess what? This isn't a requirement. It's apparently a premium product and somewhat of a premium price.

And if by some chance, a $150 is enough to make you question your life and how this purchase might put you out on the street, you're in the wrong hobby and this elite controller isn't for you.

Harsh, but fair, and the only response this thread's general tone deserves.

People who play games for a living or who get really into competition will buy this, and they'll probably enjoy the shit out of it, too. If you're not one of those people, this just isn't for you.

what would you use more often? If you are willing to buy an arcade stick for 1 game but poo poo this thing, well dunno. If I had the money and a Xbone I'd go for it.

I use an arcade stick for more than one game. Not sure what you're going for there.

I love the touchpad for mouse support of the ds4 but this looks pretty nice--might get it for pc (once the price drops lol).

Junior, you can be banned for saying shit like this.

I have a steady income, and could easily afford the controller if I wanted to. Guess what? i'm not going to, cause that price is fucking insane.

I feel much the same way when I see people call a $300 VR headset, "ridiculously expensive."

I also agree about the controller. I'm definitely picking up a pair of these, one for my PC, and one for my Xbone.

LOL
so if I sold a jar of piss for $300 because it's a competitive jar of piss you would buy it because you can afford it ?

People's income has nothing to do with not wanting to get ripped off.

That's pricey, but if I wanted all those features, I'd bite.

But all I really want is the button re-mapping. May I please have that for the regular controller?

Well, that's good for you, man. There's plenty of things that I don't buy because their price-point is not at a place where they represent a good value to me. I'm not gonna act incredulous at their existence just because those things don't cater to me particularly, though. Enthusiast product, enthusiast price, enthusiast users. It follows.

Banned for saying that it's eye opening that $150 seems obscene to people?

Not sure how I feel about that.

Also, thank you for addressing me by my rank on an internet forum, SIR!

I can't see how it's 'fucking insane'. It's an elite price for an elite product. They now offer three tiers of PC controller and two tiers of console controller. Buy the one that suits you. None of them are crazy prices relative to what you're getting though. Have you seen the price of 'gaming' mice, keyboards, and headsets?

It's not what you say, it's how you say it. I agree that the tone in this thread is way OTT, but you can't just throw stones at the filthy poors.

Considering how hard I'm ballin the fuck out; I'm gonna pass because $150 is a lot of money wtf.

The $90 price Amazon had was perfect.

$150? Almost half the cost of the console itself?

Here - a very quick mock up on Scuff, where you send in your own controller to be re-designed.

So, $120+ your existing controller and/or buying a new one for $60.

Seriously, try and build a custom controller for under $100 with all the additional features this would offer.

$150 for a controller is pretty high... unless you are talking about a racing wheel.

I am not a child, do not live at or near the poverty line and earn much more than minimum wage. And yes, I still think that $150 for a controller is pretty high. That's kind of a narrow minded perspective and claim you are making there..

Price is too much I'll stick with my DS4 for now, give me a decent dpad and it might change my mind, I buy a controller for pc mainly for the dpad.

Apparently too expensive to meet the demand of a lot of consumers. Clearly, a lot of people were interested in the controller, so it filled a niche for them, but were then turned off by the price.

Why would you compare the price of a custom built, 3rd party controller with no first party competition to one that will be mass produced by Microsoft?

Lol? So if Microsoft showcased a Driving Wheel on the level of Logitech's G27, and a bunch of GAFfers got interested, are they then obligated to sell it for $200 less than its market price? I'm not following your logic. Just because people were interested, doesn't mean there is anything wrong with the pricing.

As for the bold, because that is the market that they are competing in. This controller is meant to compete with other Scuf controllers. People misunderstood that but now that they see the pricetag, they get it (i think).

$150 for a first party competitive controller with paddles, hair triggers and swappable parts is pretty good, as long as the quality is there of course. Scuf's cost way more than that and have less features.

LOL
so if I sold a jar of piss for $300 because it's a competitive jar of piss you would buy it because you can afford it ?

Dumb analogy, this controller looks fucking badass. People are only mad because of that fact, if it lookedl ike shit nobody would care that they couldn't afford it.

I'm not sold on 150 bucks for a controller personally, I'm pretty happy with the current ones. But it definitely looks nice.

you sure about that?

the announcement trailer:

"introducing an elite controller for elite gamers"

"pro-level precision"

Yet they did it during E3 and completely left off the price tag that would turn average consumers away. A few buzz words that plenty of gamers want to believe represents them and features they think they'll benefit from does not change the fact that it was debuted in front of the largest crowd possible of media that largely caters to a less competitive audience.

who makes a living from playing xbox one ? a hundred persons ? two hundred ?
"competition" is a joke on consoles for most genres. Fighting games have sticks, racing sims have wheels.

You don't see the difference between a jar of piss and a video game controller?
his point is "you don't like it cause you can't afford it", just pointing out how stupid it is.

I'm actually a fiend for controllers. I end up with 8-10 controllers by the end of a gen. I'll buy this eventually. Once I feel like dropping 2 1/2 new games worth of money on it.

"hurp, if you can't afford it get a job and if you can why are you complaining durp"
Because the price is ridiculous?
Why should i care if this isn't a required peripheral?
For god's sake, i can't even use the damn thing in Windows 8.

Also, see the Valve controller and tell me why this costs so much more, i'm waiting.
