There is no precedence for first party custom controllers or ultra luxury peripherals.

You can configure the buttons to anything you want using an app.
LOL
Yep, I prefer batteries like this as well. They last a lot longer, and aren't that much of a pain to switch out. Also, they make rechargeable versions of these, if you don't want too pay.
I'm at E3 right now.
A couple of things that maybe haven't been mentioned yet:
- All the customizable bits are metal, and beautifully made.
- There are two dpad options: a standard cross, and the weird dish thing.
- The sticks are made of shiny stainless steel. Combined with whatever they're lining the stick well with is so smooth feeling that it's shocking.
- All the customizable parts (sticks, paddles, d-pad) are all magnetically attached, they just click in and click out.
- It is heavier that the normal controller and way better built. I tried hard to flex the controller, and there is none of the plastic creak and squeak of the normal controller.

how long will it be before Sony copies this idea and creates their own elite controller?
AA batteries still, yikes
I just played Gears with the new controller...it even had Gears sticks and that new d-pad customized with the logo. The thing fit like a glove...really nice materialI'm at E3 right now.

Its a huge plus, not sure why you would want an internal battery that gets weaker over time.

Especially in a controller that costs $150.
For 150$ it should have a replaceable lightweight lithium ion battery...

Does this controller have removable batteries, so that I can use my Eneloop batteries for it?
So two things.
1) I realized that this would be awesome for shifting in Forza, using the buttons on the paddles instead of X or B. That alone got me excited enough to start thinking about the controller.
2) It's currently #9 Best Seller on Amazon, so there must be some demand for the thing at this price.
Love MS for sticking to this method, fuck wired charging. Eneloop swapping or death.AA batteries still, yikes

Isn't that what they showed the paddles being used for in the trailer?
I bought one. Probably a better buy than the $150 I dropped on Kinect1
I'm not a competitive gamer at all, I'm just looking forward to the premium materials and the options opened up by having the paddles -- specifically replacing the fucking thumb stick press
I love that they made most of the controller out of steel. Done, I'm buying this.

Das Keyboard fist bumpand this is coming from someone who spent almost $200 on a Das Keyboard)
For the US site at least, you have to look at the normal xbox one controller's page and in the model options like part select elite. The three boxes. I can't find it on co.uk either, thoughI want to buy this now, can't find it on UK Amazon![]()
Pre-ordered on Amazon. I am a fan of paying for and supporting quality products. I love my Yeti for example. Some simply will not understand spending that kind of money on a cooler, but you buy it once and it's bought for life. I know this controller won't last for life, but it shares the same principle.
I justify spending quite a bit on my mouse and keyboard just like I justify spending a good bit of money on quality tires for my car. Why invest a great deal of resources into a machine (PC/Car/Console) and limit it where the rubber meets the road so to speak?
To be clear, the body is plastic, but higher grade and stronger than the regular controller. The sticks themselves are stainless steel coated with rubber, and the dpad and paddles are also metal.
Number 9 on Amazon Best Sellers list. The hype is real!
