XB1 Elite Controller ($150)

One thing to add about the price...MS can definitely get away with charging this much, but it might have been smarter to charge less to improve their position against PS4. Xbox was always the FPS console of choice, a position that has been diluted some this gen. Having a controller like this at a more approachable price could have swayed some of those FPS fans back.

LOL

Yep, I prefer batteries like this as well. They last a lot longer, and aren't that much of a pain to switch out. Also, they make rechargeable versions of these, if you don't want too pay.

Seriously. I'll gladly take standard AA batteries over a proprietary battery pack or non-serviceable internal battery every day of the week. I'm going to need to buy a second DS4 because of how short the battery life is. Whereas with my Xbone controller I can just buy 4 eneloops.

I'm at E3 right now.

A couple of things that maybe haven't been mentioned yet:

- All the customizable bits are metal, and beautifully made.
- There are two dpad options: a standard cross, and the weird dish thing.
- The sticks are made of shiny stainless steel. Combined with whatever they're lining the stick well with is so smooth feeling that it's shocking.
- All the customizable parts (sticks, paddles, d-pad) are all magnetically attached, they just click in and click out.
- It is heavier that the normal controller and way better built. I tried hard to flex the controller, and there is none of the plastic creak and squeak of the normal controller.

Hnnnnnnnnnggggggg. I cannot wait to get mine.

I have mine preordered. Microsoft really needs to announce a wireless dongle for the PC.

Sounds too good to be true. I just went on the SCUF website and tried making one with the equivalent options to the Elite and stopped after it surpassed the $150 mark. Will be buying this for sure with my copy of Halo 5 since they're both out October.

I just played Gears with the new controller...it even had Gears sticks and that new d-pad customized with the logo. The thing fit like a glove...really nice material

Gonna have to save up some pennies for this baby, at $99 though.

I have no issue buying something made of high quality components but I still feel like 150 is a bit much. If this was in the 100 range I'd be all over it.

So two things.

1) I realized that this would be awesome for shifting in Forza, using the buttons on the paddles instead of X or B. That alone got me excited enough to start thinking about the controller.

2) It's currently #9 Best Seller on Amazon, so there must be some demand for the thing at this price.

Isn't that what they showed the paddles being used for in the trailer? ;)

I bought one. Probably a better buy than the $150 I dropped on Kinect1

I'm not a competitive gamer at all, I'm just looking forward to the premium materials and the options opened up by having the paddles -- specifically replacing the fucking thumb stick press

I haven't seen any trailers about it ha, but the functionality came to mind today.

I love that they made most of the controller out of steel. Done, I'm buying this.

To be clear, the body is plastic, but higher grade and stronger than the regular controller. The sticks themselves are stainless steel coated with rubber, and the dpad and paddles are also metal.

Pre-ordered on Amazon. I am a fan of paying for and supporting quality products. I love my Yeti for example. Some simply will not understand spending that kind of money on a cooler, but you buy it once and it's bought for life. I know this controller won't last for life, but it shares the same principle.

I justify spending quite a bit on my mouse and keyboard just like I justify spending a good bit of money on quality tires for my car. Why invest a great deal of resources into a machine (PC/Car/Console) and limit it where the rubber meets the road so to speak?

and this is coming from someone who spent almost $200 on a Das Keyboard)
Das Keyboard fist bump
although I only had to pay 80 for mine. This was back in 2006 they were much cheaper then.

I have mine preordered and am pretty excited about it. I think MS priced it well, to be honest. I don't think it'd make sense for them to make it really cheap when the competitors for this product cost at least/around this much.

I want to buy this now, can't find it on UK Amazon :(
For the US site at least, you have to look at the normal xbox one controller's page and in the model options like part select elite. The three boxes. I can't find it on co.uk either, though

edit: also +1 for team eneloop

Well said.

This controller might very well be the peak of controlling perfection as far as I'm concerned. The innovation on that plus pad is awesome (even on a aesthetic level; pixel effect).

They just did a segment on the Xbox Daily show. They said the triggers and bumpers are steel, sticks are steel (with rubber nubs), dpads and paddles are steel.

$150 is steep but everything is worth precisely what people will pay for it.

And people will pay $150 for this for that premium experience.

I'm not an elite online gamer but at $99 id probably grab one as my main controller for home. Might even spend the $150 anyway... it's sweet
