XB1 Elite Controller ($150)

Many gaming peripherals (headsets, gaming keyboards, mice) cost north of 300 dollars easily.

who and what are you buying that cost 300 dollars?!?!?! RAT9 and a strike 7 keyboard that has a gamepad and a touch screen and astro A50's? two of those are made by cyborg....no really shop smart don't buy over priced garbage however if you can afford a50s ther are very very nice :p

And unless a game specifically has built-in support for mouse and keyboard, they won't work. The elite controller, however, will work.

riddle me this oh wise one, why is it they can do this but Microsoft and sony won't allow hard controller remapping in the OS to a keyboard a programmer doesn't have to develop for anything if the device recognizes a peripheral properly. Say X is mapped to space in the OS and the keyboard would be recognized as a controller not keyboard as long as everything is handled at the OS/Kernal level Devs dont have to worry. I can play grand theft auto on nothing but a pilot stick...bet the developers never intended that. I can play WASD on a wheel and throttle a game meant to use W, A, S and D. why is is an OS deveveloper can't implement this? to sell their expensive hardware ;).

anyways I think you didn't even read my post, I was primarily focused on PC where if you went through all of the pages like I did a lot of people are looking for windows support and windows 10 support only etc, these are misguided buyers who would be better off with a basic controller or keyboard and mouse. Also if people are looking for cheaper esport controllers for console they've existed for years just use google.

This was actually my fav thing from E3. MS is killing it. The new X1 UI is sexy as hell and blows everything out of the water. This incredible controller. Playing this with Halo 5. Holy shit, I want this so badly.

Held this controller today and it feels just so damn good. Triggers feel great when locked, and the paddles on the back are nicely places and have a really light action about them. The sticks are super smooth, and in a nice surprise, the main Xbox button on the front isn't squishy like the normal controller.

Yes, $150 is a lot, but then again, so is spending $200+ on an arcade joystick. Not everyone will see $150 in value in this controller, but for a portion of the user base this controller will be heaven.

I'm glad i've preordered mine and can't wait.
Did you try out the faceted dpad? I can't find any impressions

This controller is a dream come true. Higher build quality and cheaper than the custom made controllers. Ordered on Amazon and can't wait to try it out. I had a scuf for the xbox 360 but the Xbox one scuffs have been out of my price range (now that the AU dollar is much worse).

Despite the obscene price I'll probably end up getting this. If it does turn out as nice as it's supposed to be how hard is it going to make going back to the PS4 controller? It will probably feel poor in comparison.

Yeah, the faceted dpad was on it. Without having a game to test it out on, I can't say. It felt a little loose, but had a nice click to it. However, until I can try to pull off a couple Shoryuken's, I can't say for certain if its great or shit.

There's potential in it, but its too early to call.

Fuuny though people buy 200-300$ dollar headsets (a40s,TBs) no one complains
Same thing

You want something with higher quality, its going to cost

That vidoc sold me

I'm ok with the price. It's expensive and it means I probably wont get one, but I'm still ok with it.

I really like that it exists. Some incredibly cool features. I especially like being able to switch the mapping/programming on-the-fly.

One day maybe. Either way, this totally raises the bar and should hopefully mean a lot of this carries over into the next generation of controllers.

Like others have said. This isn't for your typical, average, casual gamer. This is for the competitive, pro and REALLY hardcore players who are dedicated to whatever game(s) they play on a daily basis, for hours on end. This is no different than buying a TE stick for Street Fighter or those fancy ass racing wheels for Gran Turismo.

I might get this. Still on the fence. I would use this for Gears Ultimate for sure, if I buy it.

When it comes to your senses... touch, eyes, ears...

Every damn thing is important.

Just imagine if the xbox one controllers had the build quality of the SNES or original playstation controllers...

The controllers we have these days are considered premium to those days... the elite is the next step

For me 150 for a controller makes more sense than same amount for headphones.

But I'm rocking a 30 dollar Kinivo Bluetooth headset.

Different strokes for Different folks maaaaaaaan.

What? I'm not saying anything like that at all

Headphones and controllers are def not the same thing

Uhhhhhhh

Probably not on xb1 but does anyone know if the extra paddles can be mapped to non standard xb1 keys on pc? I.e. Can I map each one to a spell in a game like Skyrim that I previously didn't have enough buttons for on the 360/xb1 controller.

That video was fantastic. I had no clue that you could switch mappings on the fly but that's sick. Looks like my Titanfall controller is getting replaced with this for any FPS or racing game.

I just wish we didn't have to wait for October because I would love to play it in Advanced Warfare.

You can map the ABXY face button to the superior japanese layout? So sold.
As soon as i get this i will open it up and switch the buttons to match the superior layout.

Well you didn't say anything , you just said nope

Mind explaining why the comparison isn't valid to you?

It was so blatantly wrong I figured a simple nope would be enough, but I don't really care enough to make a long post so I'm just gonna say that a $10 headset does the same exact job as a $300 dollar one. People can get essentially the same thing for cheaper if they want to. They were hoping the Elite controller would be that cheap alternative to Scufs and whatnots, but were disappointed.

How about racing wheels? Racing seats? Three-screen setups?

I made a tired post earlier touching on this, if you want to read it.

You do know you don't have to buy it and that there are cheaper options?

I sure do now!

Not sure if I have ever seen such a large thread complaining about price :o
I will get one to try out as it seems it would work well for FPS and racing games and I can switch it between PC and Xbox. I am getting a steam controller also but I think that looks more like an RTS/RPG controller for me.

F me, sold on hair triggers/smooth analog sticks not for $150 though as I still need to get a PS4 fightstick too soon. Maybe they'll bundle it with the Win10 receiver and a slight discount as that's where I'll bite. It also releases end of October? I guess I don't mind waiting to black friday to see where I can pick it up just a little cheaper.

I haven't seen anyone mention that other d-pad though wonder how it feels.

Preordering now, would have been nice to have a play and charge with it also but I bought an official battery on day 1 which barely holds a charge anymore. Got the energizer charging stand and its great so I'll probably swap that pack in. Price wise it's pretty damn good for what you get, plus the durability factor. I just got one of those midnight forces controllers a few months back and already can feel the sticks shifting ever so slightly, not hard on controllers at all but some games....ahem GTA arm wrestling comes to mind.

I know it won't happen, but it would be cool to be able to see who is playing with an elite controller when in multiplayer. People are already going to get accused of using one, so cut out the bullshit and just show people.
