XB1 Elite Controller ($150)

I know it won't happen, but it would be cool to be able to see who is playing with an elite controller when in multiplayer. People are already going to get accused of using one, so cut out the bullshit and just show people.

People are already using SCUFs and Cinches....

But I understand where you coming from :)

Sounds great. Will Microsoft be supporting all of the additional features in Windows 10? I'm mostly curious about control remapping and headphone jack support but I can't find confirmation one way or another.

There will be a Windows 10 app that handles button remapping like the Xbox One app.

The Xbox One controller, using the dongle, will support PC audio and PC microphone. There will be controller remapping on both PC and Xbox One.

The dongle also allows for 8 controllers to be connected at once.

PC Gamer did say in their hands on though that you can't currently map more buttons than the regular controller

Though I doubt that limitation will hold up on PC, through the official drivers or otherwise

What you won't be able to do (at least, yet) is create more functions than there are buttons on a regular Xbox pad, which probably makes sense in terms of not splitting Xbox users, but is slightly disappointing when it comes to PC.

$150 is really steep IMO. The only way I would even consider it is if they let you map more than the standard buttons (at least on PC). If you could have all of the standard xbox one buttons plus additional functions for the paddles then I'd seriously, seriously consider getting one. It needs more than what it is currently offering to really be worth all that extra money (don't care about swapping stuff and using the paddles JUST as a substitute for the face buttons), speaking personally. The additional buttons though would certainly do it for me. I sure hope they change their minds on that before launch.

I got some hands on time with it. Honestly, were it not for the different shape/texture of the sticks, it would be easy to forget you're not using a the standard controller. The look and feel of the sticks, buttons and triggers is not much different. I was not using the dpad though, so can't comment on that.

At $150, it just isn't for me.

I can't tell if this is a serious question or not.

Didn't they replace the grip with new diamond textured material? It's just weird that you say that because I've heard from others that it was very noticeable to them. That and the weight are said to be the first things noticed as far as feel. Also, how did the paddles and hair triggers feel?

I don't know how you couldn't tell the difference between smooth plastic and steel.... Or the entire diamond grip on the controllers grips.

Is "windows 10" just a marketing thing? I'm assuming that it will working with other versions of Windows. Have they clarified that?

Yes they clarified it. The new wireless adapter will only work with Windows 10. If you hook the controller up with a USB cable you can also use it on older versions of Windows.

More importantly, the app for remapping is only on Windows 10 and Xbox (the profiles are stored on the controller though, so I suppose you just need access to a win10 or xbox to set it up)

The controller itself is listed as Windows 7+

I think the remapping app will be Windows 10 only. It might work in a limited mode with the default Xbox One driver on previous Windows releases - maybe. Windows 10 being free though, makes me think that they aren't going to spend much time trying to make it work for 7, 8, 8.1, etc.

Wait, the Elite controller comes with a new adapter?

Thanks. I might get this. But that price. It's listed for 180 on Amazon Canada. Add 13% sales tax and now it's a 200 dollar controller. Crazy.

I hope MS will sell sticks separately. For 150€/$ it would be a shame if you have to buy a new controller just because you lost your sticks or the old ones suffered from attrition.

I'm sure they will since they've also said they will be partnering with companies to offer more options

At $150 does it come with all the various addons to switch out? Or do you have to buy those separate? If it's all in one bundle I'll still consider it if not fuck that.....will just buy another arcade stick

So they used I don't remember how many for the r&d of the standard controller which haven't even changed all for the better compared to the 360 controller, and now they charge 150 for a new controller that don't even seem polished with its rear things ?
What a scam.

I can confirm that this controller is, indeed, not Polish.

Alright MS, you got me, I'm going to pre-order this shit right now!

It looks really good. I hope Dead or Alive 4 is playable on Xbox One by the time this releases. Can't wait!

Probably been discussed ad nauseam, but what do you guys think the chances are that this thing will go on sale as early as Black Friday, only a month or so after release? Not really sure how that works. I would happily spend say 120 on this puppy, but 150 is just a little much for me....although I'll probably do it anyway.

Just pre-ordered it too.

$223 from Amazon UK. Welp.

Jesus.

I'd still have to buy the wireless PC adapter. MS got me to pay $175 for a controller. Good job.

Whelp, wife gets a new dehydrator and I get a new controller. Win win.
