XB1 Elite Controller ($150)

It works, but it also gives away your full name if that bothers you.

Thanks for the heads up friend but it doesn't bother me in the slightest. I am a community garden manager and was recently in the front page of my local paper so lots of people know my name. :) I never do anything on any social network except for here and sometimes on reddit so good luck stalking me lol. But even if I did I like helping people so the more people who know me the more chances I have to help someone who might need it. :)

Sorry for the derail, I was just trying to answer someone's question in a creative way and it went to poop. :/ It was on topic.

ms controllers always go on sale so $150 is the first dibs price. you'll probably see them occasionally for 120 or 100 then go back to their retail price.

I don't think this is the kind of device where they're trying to be super competitive and move units with promotions and price-cuts.

That's not to say MS won't ever put it on sale, but I can't imagine it happening any time soon after launch. It's a niche product that is apparently already priced competitively compared to its competitors.

(Now watch this thing go on sale a month after it launches)

That is true. Although I have a horrible habit of doing that and forgetting until it drops on the door mat.

Edit:
Fuck it, ordered! What's the release date, so I can put a reminder of my phone to cancel if I don't want it??

I really want one, and I do think it's worth the price, but £75 is still a lot of money to part ways with. Hopefully this is an ongoing price change to give me some time to think about it.

You should consider preordering it while thinking through making a final purchase decision. Just in case it sells out and the next batch reverts to RRP.

I have one preordered here in the states but I'm tempted to preorder one from the UK to take advantage of that price cut. I'm okay with waiting a few extra days to get it for thst much of a discount. The US price has not dropped at all so far. Maybe I'll keep a preorder open in the US and UK amazons and wait to see which is the lowest prior to release haha.

Edit: added it to my cart... This would cost me £72.09, or 112.35 USD, shipping included. Crazy difference from 150 USD from the US Amazon lol.

I clicked pre-order. And they have a pre-order promise, so hopefully that will count at that price. Wanted to pay in full though. Oh well.

Wonder if we'll get a release date today at Gamescom?

I had mine pre-ordered locally for 100EUR, but it won't surprise me if they don't actually come through with it and cancel it somewhere down the line.

My price has been updated, nice.

I am guessing this is a price glitch of some sort though. Also, there is no conformation if Amazon can sell this, as it was marketed as a Game.co.uk exclusive.

Well no if you read it sounds like Game have a timed exclusive on these controllers.

I am more than willing to let those game buyers beta test the controllers, by which point we'll get probably the second wave which'll have minor tweaks on the first batch of them.

"GAME has it as an exclusive until October, however the final end date has not been agreed as yet," a spokesperson for GAME confirmed.

With the controller expected to launch in October, this would give the retailer exclusive sales rights during the pre-order phase.

Everytime I see a picture of the controller it looks like they've pixelated out the d-Pad.

Are people that offended by the Xbox d-pad still... :P

This pretty much sold me on the controller. I need it.

I'm just worried about the build quality of the controller itself.

Don't be. Build quality is amazing.

At the Xbox Fanfest they had the designer of the controller and I talked to him about things like stick drift, extended warranty etc.

First off there is not going to be extended warranty. Little disspointing.

Everything about the build quality is amazing though. So the triggers, bumpers etc. are made out of coated aluminium. Basically everything that you see is silver on the controller.
I asked him about stick drift as that is one of most annoying things. He actually said that that was one of the things they made sure doesn't happen with the Elite.

They changed the underlying mechanism to how the stick attaches to the board and that plus part of the sticks are made out of stainless steel for durability.

It also uses the new 360 style bumpers.

No one mentioned this before, and was one of the 1st complaints about the launch controller. I'm excited because I didn't realize you could adjust the hair-trigger distance/deadzone as well.

Is there really a want/need to mess with stick axis sensitivity/deadzones? That seems like it would go over consumer's head real quick and even the hardcore wouldn't want to spend so much time messing with it. Personally, I would do defaults and mess with the game sensitivity.

You can load presets from Microsoft/developers if you dont know what you're doing (like me)

Preordered mine. That app and customization is going to be awesome. Just wish it was out sooner, the x button on my day one controller is having issues.
