After a fairly long conversation with customer services they agreed I would be charged the lowest price of £75.72. They wouldn't amend my order price but sent a conformation email stating specifically I would be charged that amount upon release

I think they way they are dealing with these is that they will charge you the full amount, then refund the difference. That's how Amazon has confirmed how they are dealing with my issue, as well as a few people on the Xbox One reddit page.
 
In a chat with an Amazon rep right now and he's flat out denying there was any price drop on August 4th and that I need to provide proof that the price dropped. I did and was instantly told it was fake.

Cool.

Linked the guy to GAF, r/XboxOne and some other article too, all of them were fake.

Talking to someone else now and I've mentioned it. We'll see how it goes.
 
Got a chance to try it out and it really is pretty cool and I love the customization options, but at least for me it's not worth the price. In actual feel there simply isn't a massive difference and I personally didn't feel the extra features were enough of a game-changer. It's not gimmicky though, it has its use, but I don't think its quite enough to justify the price in use even though it can't be an inexpensive item to produce.
 
Just got finished talking to another rep, went a lot better. Explained what happened, provided a few dates on when the price dropped and when I noticed it went back to full price.

Mentioned that the first guy claimed I was linking fake stuff and cut me off. She was happy to change the order back to the £75.72 and told me to refresh my order page and bam, there is was.

Guess I just got really unlucky with my first rep but thanks to those who said contacting support was worth a shot.

If you guys haven't already, try giving support a buzz and don't be mean.

Yeah I can't think of any reason a controller would be worth $150 unless you got a lot of disposable money lying around

Can I ask, did they reinstate your original order or did you have to create a new order for the pad?

It seems the reps are handling this in one of two ways. Either marking your account for a refund of the difference between the £119.99 and £75 after dispatch or are adjusting the orders to reflect the original price.

My order, for example, is still sitting at £119.99, but I have an email telling me the difference will be refunded once its been dispatched.

I was kind of in a different situation. I ordered back in June and the pre-order price guarantee dropped my order to 75 pounds. When I saw the posts here that they were cancelling the 50% off orders, I kept checking my order and it was sticking to 75 pounds. Overnight it went back to 119.99 and was never cancelled.

The rep changed the price of the order back to 75 pounds and I'll only be charged that. Not 119.99 and refunded the difference.

Ah, fair enough then, that makes sense. Still, awesome that you got the price back down.
 
Just preordered my Elite controller through the MS store and it says the release date is October 6th. That will give me plenty of time to get use to it before Halo 5 drops.

That's when the Halo 5 LE controllers are slated for too I believe. Would make sense for them to get it out before H5.

Great news, I will be on the chat to Amazon myself.

My price has now gone back up to £119

The guy firstly confirmed my order has the Pre-order Price Guarantee on it and then went on to tell me the lowest price recorded since my order was placed was £63.10 on Jul 30th which is what I'll be charged.

He re-assured me that even if I'm initially charged the full amount, they'll refund the difference within 48hrs of dispatch. I've got all this on transcript too so should be easy to raise with them in the event of a problem.

Friend held one at Gamescom. He said it felt like "200 dollars", and he had that look. That look you got when you saw the PS2 had a blue led. That look you got when you got your hands on a real joystick after trying to play Tie Fighter with a mouse.

I know that look. Same one I had when I got my X52's for Elite Dangerous.
 
I initially thought no way I would buy this but seeing and reading more about it I'm tempted to preorder it so it can be in my hands for Halo5

I cancelled my Amazon preorder for the same reason. Anybody know why MS store's release date is so much earlier? I normally wouldn't care about a couple weeks difference, but I want to be able to start playing Halo 5 with my elite if possible. Don't want to get used to a sub-par controller scheme if I'm spending 150 bucks.
 
This controller looks pretty nice. I think I buy an Xbox One within the week or so for Gears and then get this controller when it comes out. It will be nice to use on PC as well.

Wow, the MS store has a $350 version with MCC, AC Unity, and 12 months of Xbox Live. That's a hot deal.
 
I kind of want this controller. I am only a PC gamer nowadays but I plan to play Battlefront and Street Fighter V when they come out and I generally prefer a controller over my keyboard/mouse. I wonder how this will fare with movement in fighting games. I don't feel like buying a fight stick AND this controller.
 
Wait, so people are getting Amazon to reinstate their cancelled orders?
 
Has anyone found out what is the warranty on this controller. The regular controller I believe is 90 days. That ain't goin to work for $150.
 
Bit of good news. I emailed Amazon support about my £75 order. I tried not to sound like some entitled customer (not using things like: I've been a loyal customer since X, I've got these subscriptions, I've bought a Kindle etc.) but just asking if they'd be willing to honour the original advertised price, and they came back to me and said if I placed a new order (with first class postage, strangely) they would refund the £44 difference after purchase.

I assume that's to ensure you can't increase the order number. I know they're protecting their margins by only doing this for people who ask, but i wish I didn't have to. Still, happy with the service once I did.
