XB1 Elite Controller ($150)

I preordered the Elite bundle from Microsoft France and it says I'll be getting it on the 20th of October.
I think we're getting it earlier in Europe.

I pre-ordered the Elite bundle also but from EB here in Australia and they have the release date as November 6th which is shit.

I want the damn thing now!!!

We might be getting it earlier in Europe. GameStop here in Scandinavia says October 15.

[edit]
Never mind, they have changed the date to October 27 over night.

Yep - Amazon have also confirmed to me the pad will be delivered October 27th. The previous agent I spoke to who said October 12th got it wrong. Boo. :(

Have they said anything about whether headset adapters will work with this and the paddles? I just picked up an XO One headset, which I like a lot, and would be bummed if I couldn't use it

I don't see why not. Those triggers run up against the grips and the headset adapter runs pretty flush with the back of the controllers.

I'm personally more excited for this combo

Was actually wondering if this combo would fit, even with the paddles on. Do you know if you have to rock it without paddles for this? Used to love to leave the chatpad on my 360 elite (which of course was not more engineered than this new controller)

Has anyone ever used Kontrol Freeks or anything that extends the sticks before? I never have and I want to know how long it takes getting used to since I'll have the right one raised when I get the Elite.

I would assume so but I personally haven't had a chance to check it out.

Could never get used to them personally and only gave me less control. But I guess it might depend how long your thumb is.

In my experience, they were really obstructive and made using the thumbsticks an absolute chore. It never felt like a huge benefit was being conferred (I play around 2 sensitivity in games like Destiny and Halo), and it hurt my thumbs having them raised so high. Not to mention I had to change how I held the controller to use them.

I was fine with the CQCs, which are slightly-raised Kontrol Freeks, however.

I used them on the 360.

They don't change much if you don't play on an extremely high sensitivity. Only at those extreme levels will the slight extra stick precision matter.

I've been using them for years, so I don't have a great recollection of how long it took me to get used to it, but I want to say it wasn't more than a couple days. Feels weird to use a controller without them now. I used to use one on each on 360, but I switched to only an extended right stick when PS4/XB1 released, and that's all you really need.

I'll be interested to try out the extended stick with the Elite; not sure if I'll use it or a regular length one with a KontrolFreek on top.

I love my KontrolFreeks. I only use it on the right stick, and i only use the Alphas which do not increase the height all that much. I use it mainly because of how much better it feels with the increased surface area. My thumbs were slipping off the xbox default sticks.

I preordered the elites, and i'll be using my alphas on the right stick and the domed shape stick for the left. I can't wait.

Does anyone know if there will be demos of these in stores soon?

Let's list all of the new features this controller has over the original day one controller:

-rubberized diamond grip
-high quality materials
-heavier
-long braided USB cable (with ferrite beads) is included
-improved bumpers
-carrying case included
-3.5mm jack with improved audio quality & increased volume

Did I miss anything?

edit: oh yeah, you can hear your own voice through your headset, but I'm not sure what that's called...

To be clear, is it confirmed what high quality materials it is made out of? Are all metal pieces made of high quality stainless steel? Does anyone know what the triggers are made out of? Stainless steel, or painted plastic?

I have metal allergies, but stainless steel is fine, so it matters a bit for me.

Still hoping the Elite bundle is sooner than the current 6th Nov GAME has it listed for, but it probably isn't. At least I won't be X1'less for the H5 launch, the wait is bearable.

Its stainless steel, not painted plastic.

some is steal (or alloy) - the thumbsticks are confirmed to be steal or something so they don't wear out that easily
some is plastic

Even for the triggers and bumpers?

Yes. The sticks also have a metal ring around them to get rid of the plastic grind that would occur on any normal controller. For as much as people scoffed at the price when they announced it back at E3, it really is a phenomenal looking controller worth every dollar.

Got a pay out from topcashback in the form of an Amazon voucher, yesterday. Mine's all paid off and ready for my gentle caress.

It's technically included under the Elite app but I think the ability to turn down the brightness of the Xbox orb on the controller is a big selling point for us that play in low - no light conditions.

I hadn't heard that, pretty neat!

(and playing in low light is the best way to play games ;p)

Two profiles doesn't give enough info imo. Nobody would know what I was talking about if I told them that lol. Maybe, "the ability to switch between two different customized input layouts of your choosing, on the fly, via a physical switch on the controller." Or something like that lol.

Uggggh so jelly. I'd buy a X1 and switch for this if I could move my Destiny character over.

Not like it's hard to gear/level in Destiny and all your work will be reset next expansion phase anyways. If that's what's stopping you I'm really sorry as playing Destiny with a DS4 was a miserable experience compared to the Xbone controller, let alone the Elite.

I think in the context of a video game controller, "two profiles" is pretty self-explanatory.

but I commend you on raising the point because that is funny!

I really want a rundown of the app that comes with the controller. it's annoying me that we haven't really had any videos on the sensitivity curve or any info on third party add ons for the controller.

da hell microsoft

thanks for that. i still want to see it in action, and a bit of an explanation on how the stick sensitivity will function with various games.

Is there a production issue or what? Still no firm date is stupid. Should have come out a week before Halo 5, so most of us can get used to it and have time to play around with the mapping
