Eh, I still fully plan on walking into a Best Buy Tuesday morning and trying to grab one. I bet it'll work out too, I tend to have good luck with that kind of stuff, even if the Internet is doom and gloom about the prospects.

I'm clearly not in the know, but what on earth is so good about this controller that it's selling out everywhere?

Paddles, baby.
An official, premium quality version of an already great controller is exciting, never mind all the options the paddles and configuration tool are going to give.
I'm still hopeful getting it on the 27th over here in the Netherlands. Says 2-3 days now. I hope they won't cancel my order since I had it for 99 EUR during a pricing fault.
I personally don't care for that part and would rather they just be permanently attached, but there probably are plenty of people looking at it for that.
To me, it's all about the quality build materials and adjusting the curves on the sticks and limiting the triggers. The paddles might grow on me as well, I figure.
I tried asking them to do this but they claimed it wasn't something that they do. When my next package shows up late, I'll give it a try again.

Be sure you call them and don't go online chat. If they won't do it escalate to a superior. Somebody can do it (I was offered this a while back) or demand they refund Amazon prime.

Definitely worth $150 IMO.
First party, feel and quality of materials (metal, grip texture, weight), interchangeable parts (dpads and sticks), remappable buttons (though this is coming to all controllers?), paddles, adjustable triggers, and competitive price-wise with third-party alternatives. Lots of little details coming together basically.
And the extra paddles on the back. You've got full freedom to map your control natively and change button loadouts on the fly.
Tbh if you don't get the excitement for it then this clearly isn't for you.
My most hyped feature is that I can adjust the joystick sensitivity curves. I want lower sensitivity for partial stick movement and higher sensitivity for full movements. That way I can aim precisely but still turn quickly in Halo.
What is "limiting the triggers"?
He probably means limiting trigger travel.

Gonna try that. I have to wait until the 2nd of november in France ffs.... It most be the localisation that is causing the hold-up. I tried a few shops in the UK this weekend as I was there visitng family. They ither didn't have them or didn't want to sell.
Yes, this is what I mean. There is probably some specific term for it, but it restricts the travel of the trigger so quick inputs are more manageable.
Lol no. They just didn't make enough and are allocating all of their initial stock to the US and UK because that is where Xbox sells.
And I still can't get one in the US.

mine still says arriving tuesday, i guess it could dispatch anytime tomorrow but it might be time for this gif now, especially since i sold my xbox controller and have nothing now

So probably no way to get one if you haven't pre ordered? Amazon is a no go, maybe a local gamestop or wal mart? Just got the Steam controller, and it's not doing much for me. I love the regular controller, paddles would really put it over the top for me. The less I have to take my thumb off the right stick the better.

Total turned out to be $170 with shipping and tax, and it still will take 3-5 business days after the 27th to get here.

estimated delivery on the 29th so i wont get it at halo launch 
I work at a GameStop, and our store only got enough for pre orders, no extras. Our store is one of the highest grossing stores in our district too. I checked around our nearby stores, and everyone either only got 1-2 extra to sell, or only enough for pre-orders. We only had four pre-orders, and they came 4 to a box I believe. The stores that got 1-2 extra, had like either 6/7 pre ordered, and were just sent two boxes that had 8 which explains how they got extras I guess.
I wouldn't know that, this is the first time I've bought-en from Gamestop. All I know is If I wanted it day one I'd have to pay $15 alone for shipping.

Same. I spent a few days trying to cancel my GameStop order in favor of my Amazon one (which changed to release day delivery). After several calls to cancel I finally gave in that they might not be lying when they say it had already shipped as of last Wednesday. My card was charged Wednesday, rather it has been pending on my account since then.
Order still says open, and I still don't have a tracking number.
