If I were Sony, I'd start getting those back on the market, if only for talking points' sake.
There is wi-fi if you are willing to almost pay the price of a DS for it.Kevar said:Why isn't there Wi-Fi?

No offense speevy, but you've been defending this thing for several pages now. Not that I see anything wrong with that, it just seems like a wasted effort. I think most people already have their mind made up on what they think. This news isn't exactly brand new. Though I do think it's funny you take the time to occasionally insert a sony sales jab in some of your posts.Speevy said:Has it occurred to any of you that this will be seen as a luxury Xbox 360, and not a "must-have" like the current premium is?
Haven't you ever known someone who bought their console with 3 more controllers, 2 memory cards, and a few other peripherals?
It's not unheard of that people just want to go all out when buying a console. Do you really think this will make the whole market think "Well now the 360 is $479 instead of $399."
If anything the massive hard drive space disparity makes it crystal clear what this thing is. (overkill for a gaming-only user)
FirstInHell said:Relax guys, I am sure the stupid mindless masses that you seem to generalize everyone into will manage to figure out which SKU to buy. They will do this without hurting sales of the 360 and PS3 sales are not going to go up as a result of this.

Mike G.E.D. said:They should have waited until Fall or Winter and maximized the value of the current premium bundle without charging a penny extra.
This SKU, this early, at this price is damned RETARDED.
BenjaminBirdie said:They'd better get it back out there, otherwise 80% of the talking points in this thread are moot.

I personally don't have a problem with what you get for 480. I don't own a 360 so I wouldn't feel ripped off even if it's a new revision (if you can even call it that, no 65mm?). I think for fence sitters, or people who were planning to get a 360 down the line anyways this isn't that bad of a deal. Though I can understand why the early adopters feel a little iffy.
Only thing I have a problem with is a spare 120gb drive for 180 (i mean wtf?), but that wouldn't really effect me if I were to buy the Elite 360.

Omar Ismail said:You know, out of every single person that has statied that MS is "retarted" and "screwed" and has "lost", not a single one of them have communicated WHY. Like it's self evident or something.
And yet people pointing out potential reasons for this release and who it benefits are obviously giving some detailed reasoning.
I'm not saying one is right or wrong, obviously I don't think it's retarted, but I'm at least interested in hearing WHY it's retarted outside of the opinion that it just is
But I think w ecan all agree that the accessory pricing for the 360 should be concidered RAPE in all 50 states and Canada. $180/120GB HDD included. Just let us transfer our data onto the PC FFS.
Speevy said:In what respect? PR wars that no one cares about but us? PS3 sales aren't going to increase because of the Elite's existence.
Xbox 360 sales could, but may not.

Barnolde said:Wi-fi is built into the premium PS3, Wii, DS and even the goddamn Zune, why doesn't the ELITE 360 have it?
mj1108 said:If you buy the hard drive standalone you do.
If you buy the Elite 360, you don't.
Stupid, as there's going to be some people who already own a 360 that will get the Elite.
BenjaminBirdie said:Seperate HD, yes.
Elite, no.
In that 10 video he explains that because so much stuff is tied to the box itself, it'll take some doing, but they're working on it.
This I agree with.Mike G.E.D. said:They should have waited until Fall or Winter and maximized the value of the current premium bundle without charging a penny extra.

Rhindle said:This I agree with.
They should have just released the HDD, and waited on the new console SKU until they can price the thing for $400.
The fact that it's a permanent SKU makes it the de facto "standard" 360. They're trying to avoid that by using a name like "Elite" but I don't see that working. This really should have been delayed or released as a limited edition.
They've actually made one of the PS3 SKUs look like a bargain. $20 for Blu-Ray, Wi-Fi, and the perception of more power, and losing only HD space which seems rather pointless to begin with, is NOT a good value proposition for MS in my opinion. They've made themselves look arrogant and out-of-touch, like Sony often does. They're apparently kinda screwing over existing users who might consider stepping up.Speevy said:I know it's a wasted effort, and I'm not defending the product itself.
You'll notice I'm not saying things like "Wow! That's great. Everyone should buy this."
I'm just trying to understand the logic behind the "MS shot themselves in the foot/justified Sony's position" posts. It doesn't make any sense, and no one's been able to put forth a sound, logical argument concerning this yet.
This may yet be the biggest waste of time and money MS could have ever imagined, but they've got a few moves to make yet. This isn't their attempt at checkmate.

Plus, three SKUs is an awful lot for a video game player.
