Xbox 360 Live demo availability thread

W00T! My son is sick so I had to pick him up early from school. As soon as, he hits me with the "Can I go to the park...?" I'm all like "I thought you were sick?"

I was pretty pissed off up until reading this... Now I'm happy.
 
Just played a one on one with someone on live... it's hella fun.

It's like onslaught (UT) with ai squads you can give orders to.


And walls are not adequate cover... you have been warned. :lol

Imagine for half a second how many people are DLing it at the same time. You're not the only person around.

If you think the download speeds are bad... wait until you sign on. Good luck finding a server that isn't a slideshow.

And in a few days, imagine what GRAW is going to add to the strain. Oy!

They haven't turned on the other servers yet for GRAW. :D

That's blazing fucking fast. It's gonna be six hours when this finally finishes. And I'm on a 6mbps connection. This thing seriously has to be like 6 or 7KB/s.

Bullshit. I have a $400 game system that plays $60 games on a $50 a year internet service. A decent download speed is not too much to ask. I could seriously download this demo off of fileshack or something in a matter minutes, instead my 360 has been sitting here for hours spinning its wheels.

What's going to happen in a few years when there are millions of users, not just thousands. Are you going to just sit there with your 56K modem speed downloads and enjoy it because wah wah a bunch of people are trying to download the same thing at once?

Nah, not really. It appears to have been throttled way back and it's going probably about as fast as you guys are getting it now.

MS needs to add more pipes and servers to their farm.
 
Once again it seems like a company was unable to anticipate the peaks. They have to be aware of how many customers they have on Live and should expect that a majority of them will download big demos like this the moment they become available.

Well, in a few years the proportion of Xbox 360 owners who read gaming message boards and news sites and know exactly when to go download big demos will be much much smaller. At the same time, Microsoft will have had to ramp up its server capacity because the overall population will be much larger. So the situation, in relative terms, will be better when there are more people with 360s. I wouldn't be completely surprised if they also started a thing where they charged you $5 a month or whatever to get guaranteed fast speeds. As someone else mentioned, the demo download service is something available for free to all 360 owners right now, regardless of whether or not they subscribe to $50/year Live Gold.
 
You can get the demos completely free, so you aren't paying anything for that at all. *Can't wait to get home to get the Outfit...*

Oh, did everyone get the Dead Rising trailer?

The lag was bad in The Outfit during the first game I played. I started playing with my friends and some new friends from here and it was smooth sailing.

Does anyone know why the Burnout Theme & Gamer Pictures were removed(Besides them being a rip off)?
 
I can't play the outfit demo, for some reason is says that I'm playing in PAL-50 mode, and need to change it to PAL-60 mode, by going into the console settings and change it.
The thing is, in the console settings, I can only set the resolution not any mode.
And my HD-tv tells me that I'm playing in 60Hz, so that should be PAL-60, right?

Made me mad as ****.

Anyone got a tip, or two, for me?
