Starting in early March select invitees will be able to join the Xbox 360 Preview program. This will work much like the Xbox One preview – and selected customers will be able to sign-up directly from their Xbox 360. Look for a special Xbox Live message then head to Settings, then account then under account management if you’ve been selected, you’ll see Xbox 360 Preview Registration. Sign up there and enroll your console. Nothing will happen yet, but we’ll let you know when the Preview is ready to begin through a Xbox Live message.

In our upcoming release will be addressing common customer issues including improving the ability to troubleshoot common network issues from the 360 and adding a Network Connectivity test including Download and Upload speed tests.

There will be even more changes coming later this year – so sign up to be a part of the Xbox 360 Preview Program.

So there will be one last software update for the 360, one of the feature being "Network Connectivity test including Download and Upload speed tests"???

How much life does this thing have left? Goddayum.
Hopefully, as long as is reasonable considering its still-decent sales and active userbase. Too bad about it losing steam with digital software, but weren't a lot of people convinced MS would kill it to focus on X1? If only there was a way to revamp it's availability to developers to give it new life on the new title front.

Still updating a 10yr old piece of hardware? now that's some unprecedented support. I wonder how many 20gb pros are still going.

Hope they fix some of the weirdness that's going on between 360 and One. I'm talking the friendslist, achievements etc.

mine.

my launch 2005 core console still goin too. surprised tbh

Wow! count your lucky stars. from 2006-2012 I went though 3 different consoles and a dead HDD. Its crazy, if you look up/ remember their messaging from that era they said while the silicon is frozen in time, the software will evolve and adapt.

360 won't die really for a few more years. I'm guessing COd will be crossgen until at least Holiday 2016. And madden/Fifa will continue to come out for a while still.

And those live subs will still spike during the fall

Isn't this already a thing? I swear I remember getting preview builds on my 360.

Kinda.

You could manually sign-up for preview builds, when available. With this I'm assuming signing-up would no longer be required for any other builds down the line once you're in.

Maybe MS will get Windows 10 on it and deliver on their streaming service. Beyond that I would love it to become a PC gaming and Xbox One extender.

I wonder if there's (finally) a $99 Xbox 360 incoming at E3?

This is very interesting. Make me wonder what Microsoft is planning to do.

Interesting, does MS have some long-term plans for the 360?

Of course they do, it's a budget priced system with a huge catalog of games and is still receiving ports of newer games. As long as it keeps selling, it'll likely be in their scopes as something to keep around.

I was already in 360 dash betas. So I guess this is just aligning it with how its done on One. Hopefully they FINALLY unlock the USB limit. Fucking ridiculous.

Wow, didn't expect another update. Still use my Xbox 360 every day so this is welcome news. 1080p dash would be very nice. And fixing the network errors that require rebooting your console hopefully. Also give me support for drives without 32GB cap FFS. So dumb.

I'm expecting them to update the dashboard with 1080p support and re release the system as a tiny, $99 box to compete in the streaming space.

I would be all over that. All my stuff on it is digital anyway. A tiny Rock Band box would be sweet.
