hi network know-its, i know a bit about networking i have 3 pc's all connected at home but im having problems connecting my x360 to my pc. i have windows media center 2005 xp and they can detect eachother but cant connect. when i do the connection settings it says network adapter=wired and ip address confirmed but the last test, computer, says failed. im using a dlink 524 wireless router and cant figure out why they wont connect. is there a workaround these problems? i have no idea how to open ports, but could that be the problem?

thanks in advance

That happened to me as well so I made a new connection through the Xbox 360 and it worked. On one of the menus in the lower left corner it shows what button to do that. Hope it helps.

My friend had the same problem. Try running your network wizard through your PC. Also make sure any anti-virus programs are shut off.

I have the same problem trying to connect my Win XP Pro computer to my X360. When I connected directly with a crossover cable, my 360 connects to my computer; but when I try connecting the 360 with my Linksys router, there is no way that my 360 can connect to my computer. I can connect to XBOX Live either way, but when I try to access any music or pictures, it says that it can not find a PC on the network.

The reason I don't use the crossover cable now is that it is used by my old XBOX using XBMC.

I have tried everything in the following troubleshooting link with no luck

No it won't. Something else might be wrong. I have my 360 hooked into a wireless "B" bridge. That's only 11mbps in optimal conditions and I have a few lag problems, but nothing terrible.

Try putting your 360 in the DMZ zone on your router. Basically, this opens up all the ports. Also, maybe you just have a slow PC. It takes quite a bit of processing power on your PC to use your 360 as an extender.

tried the wizard. can you direct connect your pc to your 360 with a crossover cable?

Crossover and regular ethernet are the same as far as 360 is concerned. both should work.

I'm so glad I read that... I was about to go get a crossover cable. My PC won't even authorize my 360.

Where exactly in the menus is the button on the 360 to make a new connection ?
