Xbox Fitness - Insanity - Preivew (IGN)

My sister and I enjoyed the 10 Minute Solutions videos for a while, so I'm glad to see those, and so many other highly regarded videos available. I was honestly expecting these to be the super cheap workout productions you tend to see all over (not that they can't be effecting)

Definitely excited to try this feature out.

P90X is getting old but the rest are a high quality. T25 in particular will be perfect for this one day.

Sorry if answered, but is this US only??

Killer app for casuals. Will sell Xbox One's to middle class.

And damn that dude new IGN editor was suffering. Most be rough time for interns at the IGN office lol.

I wonder if you can snap the game and sync with another person playing the game so you could directly compete or have a workout buddy. Would be neat to get my gf on this too. Probably could stream a video via Skype as a workaround.

After watching it, I am really looking forward to this thing. My wife and I will definitely use this. Especially since it is free for the first year.

This is honestly the most interesting thing on XB1 for me. But I'm not going to buy a console, an Xbox Live sub and a Xbox Fitness sub just so Kinect can judge my form. Still, it's very cool.

This thread reminded me that I need to start T25 soon. Been slacking since I stopped Insanity a couple months ago!

fuck....now i want a Xbone!

Me too lol.

Damn it's really slick. Works pretty great too.

Also, LOL @ 5:28 when he grunts. That's when you know that shit was beating him up. Hahaha. Props to him for doing well on it though.

Looks pretty awesome. It seems the kinect app is independent of the video which is great because it allows a large library of videos. Does it measure heart rate at all? I remember the kinect being able to do that.

This fitness thing is the biggest by far, it'll make working out FUN lol

I actually think the other small things are just as important. You'll get so used to them, PS4 will feel like it's not up to date. Like switching from a touchscreen laptop to one without.

Remember the rumour before the Xbone reveal that there was gonna be two consoles? I think they should have went with it.

One console being reboxed 360 innards, Kinect 2, HDMI in/DVR and the new dashboard features like voice control and snap. Price it between $199-299 and focus the marketing on this sort of stuff. Maybe even drop the Xbox name to stop confusion.

The second console being the 360 successor, similar power to PS4 (or better), no packed in Kinect and priced at $399.

Right now it seems to be stuck in between the two, too expensive for the casual, not powerful enough for the hardcore.

*LOL* yea...that stuff really makes you *feel the burn*

Let's be fair though How many videogame editors/personalities you think can do better? Sessler looks like he could kill it and most of the female personalities/hosts like Chobot would have no problems but on average? Insanity will straight up send them to hell.

Jeff Cannata would destroy that shit.

why wasn't this feature set being screamed from the mountain tops already?
Did they forget about the whole wiifit thing?

As someone who has done P90X, P90X2, and Insanity, this is a really cool feature. It's so easy/tempting to "cheat" when you're working out by yourself in your home, but that visual feedback and one-to-one tracking really ups the accountability.

Does anyone know if this replaces the traditional workout sheets that come with these programs? It would be awesome if the Kinect tracked and stored your reps/sets automatically!

Great value with the first year free. I'm sure neogaf doesn't care too much for this but this but I could add a couple if these to my routine.

I didnt see anything in the video that shows heart rate or warns you to slow down...but it may exist. I do think the guy mentioned Kinect can do it in the video. Would love to get a confirmation on this. I am actually quite interested in how much feedback Kinect will provide and how they use that to custom tailor the workout to you.

Can't imagine why you couldnt.

The streaming video is a given, but I was wondering about a "multiplayer" option that syncs and with video of the other user(s) (after checking appropriate privacy options).

That would be a killer app... no more gym memberships and no more body odor (of other people).

I wonder how much this is going to cost after the free period is over. Can you use the Fitness app for free and buy permanent access to an individual workout program? Or will it only be offered as a buffet for an addition subscription fee?

That single video might have just caused me to cancel my ps4 pre-order.That looks absolutely amazing
Now to make sure it is available in Canada

I imagine it'll work like SingStar: Purchase the core game for a premium (including 2-3 "free" videos), then purchase additional training videos separately.

By the time I get an Xbox One I hope to be in a new house with a large room dedicated just to working out/playing console games.

They should really highlight these features and the use of the kinect this way with their marketing. All of a sudden $100 more for a console has a little more sway

Dude did pretty well.

He didn't make it through the warmup... Insanity is no joke if you really put the effort forth.

This whole thing has some serious potential. If they keep the sub price down to something reasonable after the first year, I can see this taking off for Beach Body (the company providing all the videos) and Microsoft. I wouldn't be surprised to see new infomercials for Insanity and P90X that show the Xbox One being used.

Exactly, from everything that's been done so far, nothing has even hinted that it could be a viable controller replacement or more than just a novelty for serious, traditional gaming so why on Earth do they keep focusing on that?

For other things it is completely brilliant.

Honestly, considering what the price is for most of these programs (assuming you don't go for the bootleg copy) and the motion/score/progress tracking, this feature alone seems to justify the Kinect as long as you use it.

I continue to think that while Kinect may never end up being a good gaming peripheral, there seems to be a lot of ancillary "stuff" where it can add a lot of value and innovation, just not in core games.

This is great that it keeps track of your previous results and compares them to your best runs and also to other people in the community. Great motivation.

Now I just need them to integrate this with Fitbit-style pedometers and wi-fi body scales so that you can track everything weight/bodyfat/dailyactivity on the Xbox.

This actually looks good. May end up trying it (especially since it's free during the first year).

MS should show this off on daytime talk shows like "Ellen". They would get a lot of attention.

I wonder if Ubisoft is pissed that they're giving this away for free? They probably had a ton of crappy fitness Kinect titles planned.

The pedometer for sure...but I'm pretty sure the kinect 2.0 can gauge your weight thus no deed for a scale.
