It depends if you judge Indie games as shovelware, because itts not the same situation as Steam with the endless asset flips and scam games, its proper well regarded Indies on Gamepass. So according to the site there are about 350 titles for Xbox on Game Pass. We'll all agree that a chunk of those are garbage shovelware but a strong majority are "proper" games and a decent chunk of that majority are relatively new.
It's really no different than something like Netflix. The utility of Netflix naturally diminishes over time as you get through the content. It naturally takes far less time for you to consume content than it does for them/other companies to produce content so eventually (if you really really binge the hell out of it) you'll have nothing left to watch.
I personally like the Amazon Prime approach where you're paying for the free delivery but they're chucking in Prime Video, free ebooks and Prime Music for the same price. I don't get the Netflix exclusive stuff but I'm happy with what I get.
I'm not a massive Xbox fan but yeah Game Pass is pretty cool. It's really a case of "if you're getting Xbox it makes no sense not to get Game Pass". I cannot envisage a scenario where I buy an XSS/XSX and don't subscribe GP. Financially it's so inconsequential if we assume that you'd be paying for Xbox Live Gold either way.
Really, you are really trying to convince there are as many if not more threads started to depict GamePass that way as there are ones exalting its virtues? Sure .As opposed to the weekly Game Pass is the worst thing that’s ever happened to gaming threads?
Im sure those ones are fine though.
Incorrectamundo. Your experience is just that: yours. Just as my experience is mine. I replay games, rewatch movies, and love going back to listen to my music library over the years. I've never subscribed to the idea of "one-and-done" media consumption, or this idea that a great experience loses its value after the first time. I find it detrimental to cultural enrichment, to say nothing of truly being able to grasp what you've seen, heard, read, or played. From my experience - all the movies, music or games you even own - you don't use it after some time. PC realized that first. I have a bunch of CD/DVD disks with games but so what? The same games would be easier to download digitally anyway. They would be the latest versions, with all the addons, patches etc. Commodities are those things that tend to collect the dust on a long run.
Collectors are the exceptions though, but they are a separate matter.
I'll continue to own and play all the platforms, thanks. How about stick the bolded stuff first. Saves everyone time.
Ok, fair point mate. Fair point. As opposed to the weekly Game Pass is the worst thing that’s ever happened to gaming threads?.
I think it's impossible to watch Netflix programs faster than they produce it, especially now that they buy stuff from TV / old catalogs / other networks. So according to the site there are about 350 titles for Xbox on Game Pass. We'll all agree that a chunk of those are garbage shovelware but a strong majority are "proper" games and a decent chunk of that majority are relatively new.

Wouldn’t that mean the pricing of Gamepass would have to go up?We already have EA and looks like Ubisoft is next.
Ubisoft Plus Subscription Service Rumored To Join Xbox Game Pass
It looks like the Xbox Game Pass could be expanding even more with the help of Ubisoft Plus.www.gameinformer.com
If you're a kid or just can't afford to buy the games you really want when they release, I could see GamePass being neat.
MS is preparing somethign for the BC, it was from the other thread and few days before, that guy who is doing those video footages with FPS saying that MS allowed him to use some new feature for Series. So hopefully it would be BC related.Post like OP made me buy Series S and regret every second. Not shitting on Gamepass, it's just SS BC being utter shit since it runs Xbox One S versions of games.
Same. Been on Xbox since OG. It’s either stuff I’ve already played or stuff I’ve never had any intention of playing. It's cool for all those gamers that never played those games, but I've played every single one of those (and some a whole lot). Game pass doesn't bring anything new to the table for me and I'm sure many others. It's just another subscription service.
It's a cool service that makes Xbox, for non pc players, something interesting... Otherwise I would never get a Series S console.
I can't wait to see if Xbox will have a good exclusive line up of games.... Because playing
I am mostly interested on Flight Simulator and Avowed. I am hopefully for Halo and Gears 6.this is not even a complete list
Xbox Games Studios - 2021 and beyond
I couldn't find a thread like this; 343 Industries Halo Infinite, 2021 The Coalition Gears 6(?), 2022/23 Compulsion Games TBA, TBC Double Fine Productions Psychonauts 2, 2021/ Next Project TBA, TBC The Initiative Perfect Dark, 2022 inXile Entertainment AAA Steampunk Project, 2023/24...www.neogaf.com
Don't tell him about the state of the cinema industryLike a wise man said, if GP is the Netflix of gaming then PS is the cinema of gaming.
Its a very good service, but a service nonetheless. Relax
No, OP.
Conning a generation of people into becoming tenants and forking over their money to Microsoft for meaningless, impermanent digital downloads that evaporate once their payment to their landlord is ceased is not, in any way, 'the best thing that ever happened to gaming'.
I've been gaming for more than 30 years, but only in the last three years I have discovered fantastic games and even whole genres that I never bothered to try before.
Uh, no. When Sony does the same thing, the model is equally heinous.Until PS does the same then the model is fantastic.
Imagine if you could have played "every single one of those games" while spending only 45 bucks (let's say for 3 months) instead of the 100 times more that it has taken you to buy all those 100 games (as you claim) at the retail price of (for simplification purposes) 40 buck a game. You would have spent 100 times less and obtained the same value minus just the game boxes in your attic. So that's what the article is talking about. It's cool for all those gamers that never played those games, but I've played every single one of those (and some a whole lot). Game pass doesn't bring anything new to the table for me and I'm sure many others. It's just another subscription service.
Now that you can't even go to the cinema, for sure.So is Netflix the best thing that ever happened to cinema?
