Standalone NBA Jam Coming to PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 After All

http://www.1up.com/news/nba-jam-coming-playstation-3-xbox-36

Electronic Arts' upcoming NBA Jam will be available as a standalone game on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, despite past reports to the contrary.

The news comes as part of a larger blog post by EA Sports head Peter Moore, who said that a "standalone product" would be available for the consoles "in time for the holidays."

PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game were previously announced as bonuses for consumers of NBA Elite 11, with EA specifying that an Elite purchase would be "the ONLY way" to play NBA Jam on these consoles. However, this appears to no longer be the case.

Moore also announced today that NBA Elite 11 has been delayed from its planned October launch; presumably the standalone NBA Jam releases are being made in response to this.

The initial announcement for NBA Jam on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 indicated that these versions would not contain all of the same features that will ship on the Wii. It is unclear if this is still the case, but we will update you when we learn more.

Everyone's favorite blue hedgehog will be ready to go next month as SEGA announced the release date for several versions of Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1
The game will be available for download on the iTunes App Store starting Oct. 7, the Wii Shop Channel on Oct. 11 (15th Oct in EMEA territories), the PlayStation Network on Oct. 12 in America (Oct 13th in EMEA territories), and Xbox Live Arcade on Oct. 13 across all territories.

Sonic 4 will be priced at 1500 Wii Points on WiiWare, 1200 Microsoft Points on Xbox Live Arcade, and $14.99 / £9.99 / €12.99 / AU$19.95 on the PlayStation Network.

No way I'm going to cough up 1200 points for each Sonic 4 episode.
It's bizarre pricing when you could pick up three of Sonic, Sonic 2, Sonic 3 and S&K for that price. Or all four when they were on sale a few months back.

I mean, it's not going to be better than all four games combined, is it?

NSMB Wii is $50 but you can get SMB, SMB2j, SMB2, SMB3, SMW for $29 on Virtual Console.

Not that I think it's a good idea to price a "slice" of any game at $15. Especially one where they haven't even explained anything about the future episodes. Like...

How many are there?
When are they coming?
Will they also cost $15 each?
Will they be DLC for this game or separate releases?
Will they basically continue on with an increasing level of difficulty or will Sonic end up in a Green Hill Zone-type easy level at the start of every episode?

Episodic gaming is littered with unfinished projects that are missing "episodes" because of poor planning by the developer, and this is SEGA.

The remake of Haunted House by Atari is up for sale on Steam today, so could it mean that the XBLA version is eminent as well? And the price is US$ 19.99 so it will probably ended being 1600 space bucks on Live.

Pinball FX 2's pricing explained
http://www.destructoid.com/pinball-fx-2-s-pricing-explained-185231.phtml

The third title in Microsoft's Game Feast line-up is none other than Pinball FX 2. We already know it's being released on Wednesday, October 13, but there's been some confusion here and there as to what the asking price will be. Yes, the game itself is a free download.

Zen Studios wants you to think of it as a platform. As such, you'll be able to demo all of the tables and then pay to unlock them, if you so desire. Speed Machine, Extreme Agents, and Buccaneer from Pinball FX (with updated graphics/physics) are $10, or can be imported for free if you own the tables already.

Similarly, the add-on tables Nightmare Mansion, Rocky & Bullwinkle, Street Fighter II Tribute Table, and Earth Defense from Pinball FX are $3 each for new players. As for one-hundred percent new tables, Pinball FX 2 has four bundled together for $10: Pasha, Rome, BioLab, and Secrets of the Deep (shown in gallery).

This will make more sense come October 13, hopefully.

Auditorium Gets Dated and Priced
http://www.psnstores.com/2010/09/auditorium-gets-dated-and-priced/

Zoo Games has announced today that they will be releasing the award-winning music puzzle game Auditorium on November 2nd, 2010 for the PSN and XBLA. There are a bunch of screenshots, but they probably do little to explain the gameplay.

Players will manipulate magnet-like circles in order to dictate a stream of colored light called “The Flow.” There are stacks of horizontal bars that need The Flow to intersect them in order to fill up. Once all of the stacks are filled, you clear the stage. Checking out the video in our earlier Auditorium post would do much to clear up any confusion you may have. Just remember, that video shows off one of the later, way more complex levels. If I remember correctly (the game was released on PC a while ago), the game does a good job to teach you how to play while gradually ramping up the difficulty.

The game will cost $9.99, which isn’t too steep. There’s no mention of it in the PR, but I’m wondering if this version of the game will include any extra content. Who’s played this one before? Not bad, right?

I've played it on PC a long time ago.

800 points ? Good luck with that. It should be XBLIG and even under 400 points.

Next year you'll get to either relive the experience or see why it's a cult classic when Beyond Good & Evil HD is released on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network. This will be the same game released in 2003, only now it will have 1080p visuals, the character models are receiving makeovers, textures are being polished, and the soundtrack is being re-mastered. Achievements/trophies and online leaderboards have also been added.

Title says it all. Apparently, it's on ANYTHING, not just games feast stuff.

Starts in October. Points will be added to your account by the end of November.

Too much awesome stuff coming out! Glad this deal came along.

I was going to buy Comic Jumper, anyway. Might pick up Lara Croft, or Super Meat Boy, or maybe the new Trials HD add on pack if it comes out in October, or the new Toy Soldiers DLC, or the RDR Zombie pack.

That spend 2400 get 800 back is worldwide.. apart from france lol.

Cool, I'm glad now that I didn't buy two x 2100 points a few weeks back, now I have a valid reason to buy about 5 xbla titles.

I, on the other hand, wasn't planning to spend any because of 1200 point lunacy. For 800 points, I'd definitely get CJ and SMB day one. Problem solved.

Bangai-O HD delayed until spring, Treasure adding multiplayer

http://www.joystiq.com/2010/10/04/bangai-o-hd-delayed-until-spring-treasure-adding-multiplayer/

Okay, we have some bad news and some awesome news. First, the bad news: you won't be blowing up robots, houses, mines, and everything around you with bajillions of projectiles in Bangai-O HD: Missile Fury this fall. D3 Publisher announced that the XBLA title has been delayed until spring.

How can a delay be awesome? Developer Treasure is using the extra time to add multiplayer gameplay, including both cooperative and competitive modes. Despite Bangai-O Spirits on the DS having wireless local multiplayer capabilities, Missile Fury was originally announced without any.

Did they announce that the game will be 800 points or am I mixing it up with another XBLA title ? I hope the price won't increase if so.

Costume Quest Launching October 20
Halloween-themed RPG will be available for $15.00.
http://www.1up.com/news/costume-quest-launching-october-20_2

Double Fine's upcoming RPG Costume Quest now has a release date.

As expected, the Halloween-themed title will be released around the actual holiday. It'll be arriving about a week beforehand.

Gameplay revolves around going door-to-door collecting items and picking up quests at costume parties. The battle system is a traditional turn-based setup, with characters becoming a superpowered version of their costume.

Costume Quest will be out October 20 on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network. It will cost $15.00.

So is this like a Dead Rising arcade thing? I guess EA is checking the trend out too...

Oh yeah, thanks.

This one will come later, no ? First on PS3 I think.

Could be nice if they include a Kinect mode.

Only on PS3, and only with the CE

Costume Quest isn't on the XBLA release schedule for 10/20. This worries me. I hope MS doesn't sit on for a few weeks.

Well they announced the date this morning, so it could be PR plans clashing with MS uploading their schedule of what will come to the service.
