http://www.vg247.com/2010/10/19/foundation-9-ceo-30-percent-of-360-owners-buy-xbla-games/

Foundation 9, developer of Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix and Doctor Who for XBLA, reckons that around 30 percent of all 360 owners purchase games from the Marketplace.

In an interview with Eurogamer, Foundation 9 CEO James North-Hearn said, “Certainly XBLA is past tipping point now,” He went on: “We estimate there are about 16 million game purchasers out there currently. The 360 numbers are somewhere between 40 to 50 million, depending on who you listen to.

“Clearly with PSN the market’s not as big and therefore the data is not as established,” he continued. “Even though it’s a smaller user base, and even though it’s generally accepted as currently not being as successful or as popular, it’s definitely growing. We can see that.”

North-Hearn also predicted a disk-free future for games, saying he expects the industry to evolve into a download-only business.

“Connectivity and digital distribution, and dare I say cloud solutions, are all where the market’s going to go,” he said. “XBLA and PSN are in a great position.”
That is very interesting to know :O.

Meat Boy gets introductory discount:

http://xboxlive.ign.com/articles/112/1128786p1.html

The ultra hardcore platformer Super Meat Boy will be released on Xbox Live Arcade (XBLA) this Wednesday. While its price has been set at $15, early buyers will be rewarded with a 33 percent discount. From launch day until sometime in November, Super Meat Boy will be reduced to $10.

Sales have become common on XBLA, but this is the first instance we know of where a game was put on sale at launch.

"We hope you guys appreciate this early xmas gift," says developer Team Meat. "Your positive comments, fan art, and donations when Edmund was in the hospital have been greatly appreciated. We are more than happy to give a little back."

Trouble Witches Neo! Coming To XBLA Courtesy Of SNK
http://www.gamerbytes.com/2010/10/trouble_witches_neo_coming_to.php

The German USK has rated a new title being published by SNK Playmore -- Trouble Witches Neo, and it's coming to the Xbox 360.

But it's not a game originally made by SNK at all -- Trouble Witches! was a PC game released back in 2007, a "Cute-Em-Up" side-scrolling shooter with adorable Kiki's Delivery Service styled witches at the helm.

It was developed by Studio SiestA, a small "doujin team" over in Japan. They brought the game to the Arcades last year with the Taito Type X board. It would then be no surprise that SNK's last release KOF Skystage also used this board, so it sounds like this release might be a variant of that version.

As it's being published by SNK, and SNK don't deal with retail releases, it would be safe to assume this will be an Xbox Live Arcade release -- good on them, and with Guwange and Radiant Silvergun on their way, we might be in the midst of bullet hell heaven.

What?!?!?!

http://www.digitalspy.com/gaming/s7.../doctor-who-game-was-considered-for-xbla.html

Doctor Who: The Adventure Games was initially considered for an Xbox Live Arcade release.
Sumo Digital's creative director Sean Millard explained that the BBC went through a variety of distribution options for the project.

"There was a lot of talk initially about commercialising it for XBLA potentially, but it's a can of worms, and really that's up to BBC Worldwide and they're thinking of the best way to do that," he told DS.

"It's difficult to try and commercialise something that's already been available for free, even if it is on the other side of the world. So they've got their work cut out to start commercialising that.

"I would guess that if we were to do something like this again in the future, Worldwide and Public Service would probably be working more closely from the beginning so both parties get the most out of it."

The title, which will be free to download in the UK for the licence fee payer, may have a fee attached for international users.

The first episode, 'City Of The Daleks', will be released on June 5.

It's really a shame that "buy 2400 pts of stuff, get 800 pts back" promotion doesn't stack. I'm spending illegal amounts of MS points this month:

-DotW MW2 map packs, 2x 600
-DotW Mass Effect 2 DLC, 2x 400
-A mess of Rock Band tracks, 6(+?)x 160
-Super Meat Boy, 800
-Costume Quest, 1200
-Some Indie Games, 3(+?)x 80
-Pinball FX2 new tables, 800
-Hydro Thunder expansion, 400
-RDR Undead Nightmare, 800
And maybe Snoopy Flying Ace at 400.

I'd have enough for the promo three times over.

Dishwasher Vampire Smile ESRB rated:

The Dishwasher: Vampire Smile

Platform: Xbox 360

Rating: Mature

Content descriptors: Blood and Gore, Violence

Rating summary:

This is a side-scrolling platformer game in which players assume the role of Yuki, in a story of revenge against three villains: the General, the Banker, and the Judge. As players progress through the highly-stylized 2D environments, they use blades, machine guns, chainsaws, and over-the-top weapons (e.g., oversized syringes, giant scissors) to kill "cartoony" enemy soldiers and zombies. During the melee-style combat, players are able to decapitate and dismember enemies by using a variety of "execution moves." These finishing moves are highlighted by slow-motion camera effects and exaggerated sprays of blood. Blood splatter may also covers players' screen, or stains the surrounding walls.

For 400 points it would be ignorant not to buy RISK.

Also just back online and tried the comic jumper trial out. Found it was good, not sure what all the hate was about.

Borderlands getting Deal of the Week also? Nice. Will definitely look to get a few of them since I haven't bought any yet.

XBLA has been CRAZY lately! I have both Snoopy and Risk and they are must buys at 400 if you haven't already got them. Great value at that price.

Wait, Blade Kitten was released only a few weeks ago, and it's getting the DotW treatment ? I know Krome just closed shop and all, but that was fast.

Haunted House in limbo? It says it was released on October 8th but all there's only a 29MB video. Canned perhaps?

It was released on Steam. Wondering where the 360 version gone... Maybe MS want to launch it at a lower price in XBLA, so the publisher is waiting to not cannibalize the PC version (which costs US$ 20).

Xbox.com and Gamespot says the 360 version was released on October 8th... Checked the Game Marketplace on the 360 and all that's there is a 29MB video. The game is obviously very low budget, but it would be nice to have another Halloween game after Costume Quest.

Game dropped from $15 to $10 on Steam like a week after it came out. Not as a sale, just as a new price.

Magicka Trailer Reveals $10 Price, January Launch

If you like your fantasy action-RPGs a little light-hearted, you might fancy a gander at the new Magicka trailer revealing that it'll be released in January 2011 for a mere $9.99.

The new silent movie-style trailer follows on from the last one, revealing more of the magical explanation of why Magicka missed its planned launch this year.

Magicka promises to let you prance around in the forest with up to three fellow wizards, zapping enemies with a "dynamic spellcasting system" boasting over a million possible combinations. Developed by Arrowhead Game Studios and published by Paradox Interactive, it'll be released for download on PC and Xbox 360.

EDITED: found Costume Quest: http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/Product/Costume-Quest/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d80258410a79

xbox.com is weird today.

Breach Hardcore Mode Detailed

Atomic Games, announced today new details for the Hardcore Mode in their upcoming Xbox LIVE Arcade, military shooter, Breach. The Hardcore Mode promises players the opportunity to test themselves and their tactics in an FPS like never before all in a title that will cost less than £20.00.

When Atomic first showed off Breach to gamers, the game's realism caused some organisations that use other Atomic training systems to show interest in using a modified version of Breach as a training aid for their operatives. Since Breach was made from the beginning to offer new kinds of authenticity not available in other shooters, adding in a sim-like HardCore Mode for both operatives and gamers was not difficult. Between its robust destruction and active cover technologies, it can simulate aspects of urban warfare better than any other multiplayer title. Add in its ability to simulate small arms fire, including range, velocity and caliber, and its purpose is clear.

Breach, unlike any other current game, is about using cover and denying its use to the enemy, allowing for the true element of surprise and the ability to use real world tactics in a virtual environment. When players use the new Hardcore Mode in conjunction with the Sole Survivor game type, they will be able to experience Breach similar to the way real world Operators will as they train. Some of the components of Hardcore Mode are listed below,

Hardcore Mode:

New "Sole Survivor" Game Type: Each player is given only one life and no re-spawns, causing them to move and shoot with far more care and precision in this Team Deathmatch-like competition.
Minimal HUD experience – Aiming reticule and other items turned off, while certain other items are left in as real life affords greater situational awareness.
Disabling of Mini-Map radar system - removes the ability to use the radar to track enemy and friendly forces, players must be more aware of their surroundings.
Disabling of ammo counter and weapon fire-mode display.
Disabling of Kill Cam system: No longer gives you a hint about the person who killed you or where they were located, keeping your effective kill locations hidden.
Modified Damage Settings creating a more lethal experience: More realistic damage from all weapons, making direct fire fights highly lethal. Use cover to gain the upper hand.
Hardcore mode can be applied to any of the existing maps and Game types: Creating a unique twist for the serious gamers across the board.
Filter match searchers by normal or hardcore to match your play style

Breach is expected to be released for the Xbox LIVE Arcade and Windows PC in January, 2011.

Three Ways Pac-Man Championship Edition DX Is Even Better
http://xboxlive.ign.com/articles/112/1129963p1.html

Ghosts 'n Stuff
Traditionally, Pac-Man has only had to contend with four ghosts chasing after him. In DX, dozens, maybe hundreds will be on his tail. Ghosts are found sleeping around the maze and will wake up and chase after Pac-Man when he passes by. The longer you wait to eat a Power Pellet, the longer the ghost train will become. Finally chowing down on a conga line of ghosts is one of the most satisfying gaming experiences you'll have this year. While you earn points for eating dots and fruit, too, the biggest chunk of your score will come from your ghost intake.

Way More Content
The original Championship Edition was centered on the Championship course with a couple extra courses thrown in for good measure. DX includes ten courses, most of which are brand new.

Championship II: An updated version of the Championship course from the first game.
Championship I: The original Championship course.
Highway: An updated version of the Extra-1 course from Championship Edition.
Junction: A new course with many warp zones.
Spiral: A new course with several whirly bits.
Manhattan: Namco wants to keep this one a secret for now.
Free Manhattan: Another secret!
Dungeon: New course where it's easy to find yourself trapped by the ghost train.
Half: New course with cookies placed on just the left half. This one will take some thinking.
Darkness: New course for skilled players where only the areas around cookies and ghosts are visible.>

Retro Skins
Pac-Man Championship Edition DX lets you choose from a variety of map and character visual styles in every game. Want to play a round with the 3D look of 1987's Pac-Mania? Or a pixilated Pac-Man? You can. Some of the options may be a little impractical if you're serious about your high score (they may be distracting), but they all look great.

Play with a Pac-Mania skin if you like.

Pac-Man Championship Edition DX will be out soon on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network. Fingers crossed for a $10 price tag.
