Not just Google DNS, however. It's not reliable for me in my area. However, you can download DNS BENCH to your PC and it will tell you what your best DNS to use is.

I'm literally running this rn. I have a feeling that it isn't telling me the correct results as far as XBL goes.

On PS4 you can put your library in a folder to access it when you power on the console, on xbox, the library is right there on the home page as well. On PS4, friends/messages/parties/etc are located at the top, while on xbox it's to the left.

That's because it was. The focus of NXE was to allow access to friends/messages/parties/notifications faster. And it was significantly faster with NXE because those functions were no longer stupid "apps." Don't know my MS would make them that way in the first place lol

I agree that's definitely a problem, but I don't think that's a layout issue. The problem with the bone OS for the most part is not where things are located, but rather, accessing those things is sloowwwww.

The only thing I find obtuse is screenshot and video stuff. Sometimes the option to share isn't available and sometimes it is. Whereas on PS4 if you wanna show your friend a screenshot, it gives you the option in the messages section to attach stuff

I don't know, it uses five minutes clips, but they look kinda awful. :/ It's one of my favourite features in the PS4 and seeing how it looks it's kind of a downer.

Last time I checked there were some "how to record longer than five minutes" tutorials in YT, but never bothered to watch.

It'd be nice if they let you record as long as want at 1080p 60fps @ 20Mbps. Since they already got the Xbox App Windows 10 Streaming at that quality, I see no reason they can't allow you to record at that quality if you have a separate hard drive (as writing that kind of data to the same drive could potentially have a performance impact).

I got this update on my OG xbox one the other day and was going to make a thread about how snappy it is now. The OS is blazing fast and smooth now, and this is coming from someone who hated how laggy it was. The store loads faster too.

I had to remove myself from the preview updates, shit was way too buggy and made the experience of using the Xbox One terrible. Turns out the OG is just as bad, shit is slow and I've been experiencing app disconnects in Netflix and ABC iView.

The other thing people are skipping over is the smoothness.

It's actually not slow per se, it's just not very smooth or precise.

I'd say it's a mix of genuine lag and a lack, like you say, of smoothness that could be helped greatly with some visual transitions. Anybody who has ever disabled transitions on a jailbroken iPhone can attest to how much more disjointed it it feels without those little touches.

DNS is not provided by xbox live. It's usually provided by your ISP. However, your ISP may have terrible DNS resolution performance. Mine did. The bench will gather a list of DNS in your area that may perform much better. As poster above just stated, change this at router level and you'll see an increase speed of pages loading on PCs and overall better net surfing.

Worked for me in Blackpool (with Sky). I have had some terrible issues with this connection but, damn, Xbone is really nice now. I actually thought the dash had performance issues (I have commented before about how it's better with a good internet), but this is like, perfection.

Just for reference, they say this after nearly ALL major updates and nothing changes.

While the dashboard is so heavily tied to your ping to their server, the dash performance will continue to be laggy and clunky for the majority of users.

Maybe they've changed that for this update? Would be nice I guess.

Making the dashboard snappier would be a good update. But a better update would be overhauling the dashboard as a whole and going to something more akin to what the 360's first major dashboard overhaul.

Good shit. A lot of people say the UI is the best, a lot say it's the worst, I think it's decent. There's nothing in particular that makes it better or worse than the PS4 UI personally, except for maybe speed, so this is a welcome change.

I do hate the snap an app thing though, a good idea with a terrible execution.

Except plenty of people say that the speed of the UI is an issue. It seems to vary from person to person and some have said that the speed of the UI was affected by the users Internet speed.

You're obviously trolling here but just because some like the look and feel of the UI it doesn't mean they're also blind to some of the obvious flaws. Don't get it twisted.
