Xbox One Media App line-up - coming within few months from launch

honestly if you can afford a x1 at launch you should be able to handle a yearly gold membership.

I always thought this was a silly argument because it never terminates.

"If you can afford a x1 at launch you should be able to handle a yearly gold membership."

"If you can afford a x1 at launch and a yearly gold membership you should be able to handle buying a couple of games."

"If you can afford a x1 at launch, a yearly gold membership and a couple of games you should be able to handle buying all of the launch titles."

"If you can afford a x1 at launch, a yearly gold membership and all of the launch titles you should be able to handle buying a new TV to play it on."

...and so on.

We can always spend just a little more, but we all have to set limits for ourselves. We all have to stop somewhere. It seems fruitless to criticize someone for having slightly different priorities than you. (Tangentially I always thought "It costs less than a cup of coffee at Starbucks was silly for similar reasons. Maybe I want that really want that Almond Mocha Latte holmes!) For most people a new console is already a splurge, I think it's reasonable that people would want to minimize the damage.

Great list!

Love that Twitch is there at launch. Wish HBO Go would be there at launch, but as long as it's here for Game of Thrones premiere I don't mind.

Only app I'm not seeing is the Xfinity app for on-demand. Though I suppose I could just access the cable box through the Xbox now so maybe it won't be that big of a deal it's not there like it was on the 360.

I can't believe they said launch apps, then in the article says coming by spring 2014... Microsoft double talks all the time. The disingenuous continues

Edit: guess I misread that, but still to have to guess what will be there day 1 is bogus

Not blaming MS but lol at the shitty apps for France.

Well it's mostly missing CanalPlay, everything else is quite similar to what is already available on the 360. Not that I use many of them, but if the FranceTV channels include live programs, I may consider using it for my daily "Télématin" session. ;) (yes I'm lazy)

I just want Netflix to come here.

Problem is, Microsoft shared a huge list of apps that are coming at some point from November 22 - Spring 2014. Basically, sometime in the next 6 months. Sony hasn't released a list of what is coming AFTER launch. So we are basically comparing Sony's Launch Lineup only, and Xbox One's lineup for the next 6 months.

That is not a very "balanced" comparison, at all.

I just realized this say "within few months from launch" i thought these were day 1. Would have been impressive.

That was the point I am trying to make. That Gizmodo Chart is comparing Day 1 Confirmed Launch Apps for PS4 to the next 6 months of apps for Xbox One..

Heck, we dont know which of the Xbox One apps will even be available day 1. It is a 6 month window for all of these.

Oh well, whatever gets people excited I guess.

Wow Xbox is missing a lot is apps that are on ps4. seeing as how they are supposed to be the all in one media box I would have thought that Xbox would have all the apps the ps4 had plus some. At launch, they are offering about the same number...

Now that the NBA season has started I use my league pass every day. Pretty disappointing not to have that app.

hope ps4 gets more apps soon. they seemed to kind of stop making them for ps3 after they got most of the basic ones down.

cw, foxnow are a nice supplement for cord cutters who don't want to subscribe to hulu. ota tv antenna and these apps mean no need for a dvr :)

According to the Gizmodo article it seems like HBO is the only app that won't be coming out until the Spring for the Xbone lineup.

On the numbers game alone, Xbox One appears to have the edge with 19 video services ready to go (if you include HBO GO, which won't launch on the console until the spring).

According to Xbox's Official Site, it appears pretty clear that these apps are not all launching on November 22nd. Unless they are saying

Here are their words I copied and pasted from the link above!!

"Today, we’re announcing the very first wave of some of the world’s biggest names in entertainment rolling out on Xbox One in the 13 launch markets between Nov. 22 at launch and spring 2014"

"The list above* is just the first wave of third-party apps that are coming to Xbox One over the course of the next few months. We will continue to announce more apps coming to the platform and both the Xbox One and Xbox 360 entertainment app portfolios will continue to grow weekly. "

The United States is part of the "List Above" that are coming over the "next few months."

Okay. And the one app listed as "Coming Soon" is the HBO app.

Ok, I am not trying to argue, but I dont think you are getting my point. They say, pretty clearly, that the list above (the list of apps) are coming from November 22nd to Spring 2014. All 13 of the launch markets listed with those apps launch this November. Why, if Xbox Go is the only app coming after launch, would they put the disclaimer below the list saying the apps are coming in "the next few months" ?

Why would they put that disclaimer below the list, AND put "Coming Soon" next to Xbox Go, if Xbox Go is the only one coming after launch? Why would they say "apps" as in plural that are coming soon? Wouldn't the "Coming Soon" be enough, next to HBO Go, if that was the ONLY app coming later.

Man Australia gets ripped off :(

Well its not like there are many local video services anyway (or ones that arent geolocked). And many dont have windows 8 store apps..which I guess is the base. Thats certainly the only reason SBS could afford to produce an app whilst the ABC is unable. Foxtel is a surprise. I suppose its too much to hope they arent exclusive anymore...though I've not had foxtel for many years and see no reason to change.

Xbox one loads up to a next gen UI and media system features and enters into a last gen gaming

PS4 loads up into a last gen UI and media system features and enters into a next gen gaming

Decisions for the next gen consumer
Option B seems to be the better choice, UI and Media features can change in a firmware update :)
