Xbox One "Original Xbox" backwards compatibility live now

No, they are all still at their original aspect ratio, just 4x resolution on XB1 and 16x resolution on XB1X. KOTOR should be 1280x960 on XB1 and 2560x1920 on XB1X.

Thanks. When I fired up KOTOR earlier it was on in a small box in the center of the screen.

Never realized the list was so huge and even if we end up getting a fraction of that on XB1 (all the best games hopefully) that would stand to be mighty impressive.

I'm extremely happy MS is doing this, it's just a shame the online functionality will remain dead. My incentive to buy Crimson Skies died upon that revelation. The next updating arriving in Spring 2018 is also a bit of a blow, but a lot hinges on how good of an update to the library it will be. If it's only another dozen games, they'd better be some pretty special ones like KotOR 2, SVC Chaos, and TimeSplitters: Future Perfect...

I'd like to think the large gap is to give them time to give us an impressive delivery, but we shall see in a few months, I guess!

Why aren't all the announced backwards comptable games available in Australia? I bought KOTOR from the website but the option to install it ain't there!

It happened to me with NGB. Give it some time and/or reboot your console. It should pop up in your ready to install list.

I bought it like 3 days ago! Still waiting. Also when I try to look for it through the marketplace I can't find it. Only a handful of titles show up like black, crimson skies and fusion frenzy. Not sure if aussie just got screwed over big time, and they didn't even bother telling us! :(

I've read that you just have to switch your region to US and it will pop up in your Ready to Install list and then you can switch back to AU after you install and still play no problem.

Don't you have to wait six months after changing to change it back? If so that's just bloody stupid!

No. That would be an account migration.

What they're talking about is going into your Xbox One's settings menu and changing your console's region to the US. You can change console regions as often as you like. All you need to do is restart your Xbox each time you do.

Alright I'll try that, cheers :)
Edit: that worked! Also it looks like I had dark void as well which was not backwards compatible in my region but now it is :p

I really don't expect it to ever happen, but it would be nice if Spider-Man 2 got BC. Still the best Spidey game ever made in my opinion. That is unless this new one dethrones it.

Whoa, hold up Larry. Launch model PS3 would like a word.
A how many of those are around and not ylod by now even mine is a display piece now and non functional. They took the ability away pretty quickly too.

Most reliable way to play ps1 and ps2 games is a ps2 slim

His statement did forget the launch ps3 top model though.

Xbox One Owners are Playing OG Xbox Games Online

Original Xbox backwards compatible games just hit the Microsoft Store and already gamers are finding ways to further improve their experience. Sure the added benefit of being able to play OG Xbox games with improved framerates and resolutions is cool but what if you could play them online? While Microsoft has stated that old OG Xbox games would never have their online components working again, Crimson Skies players have used XLink Kai in order to face opponents online.

For those unfamiliar with XLink Kai think of it as it's own Xbox Live. Gamers have often used this online service in order to play old games that have had their online components scrapped. A lot of old OG Xbox owners have used this networking system to play old forgotten games and apparently the Xbox One is capable of using the same matchmaking system along with the ability to play against people playing on an OG Xbox.

The Xbox subreddit notes that if someone wants to play Xbox games online you would have to follow the Xbox 360 guide which works with the One. One redditor even posted video of his experience. Check it out below.

Wii & Wii U can also play NES ,SNES , N64 ,Gamecube (Wii can anyway) , Sega Master System, Sega Genesis , TurboGrafx, Neo Geo & more.

With the original disks? You have to rebuy the games. Different situation here.

It’s anazing in motion. Can’t wait to try it on Xbox One X, too - 16 times resolution boost to 4K. Not upscaling, actual rendering.

indeed!

Going to have to research that stat! It would have been nice if Microsoft could have leveraged and built it into those games.

Edit: Oops. Posted in the wrong thread. The below are 360 BC titles.

Also, looks like 0 day Attach on Earth, Girl Fight, Yosumin! Live, Deadfall Adventures, and Mutant Storm Reloaded out today for BC.

Great to see Morrowind, seems Destroy all Humans was on XBL Marketplace in the past since it already has over 6K reviews.

Full Spectrum Warrior and MX Unleashed are two more games added to the list. Hoping there are a few surprises for their Inside Xbox show today...

Bought morrowind goty last summer, havent started it tho since i was always hoping it would come to BC.

Going to spend this summer playing through this, oblivion and skyrim

It's nice to have opinions even if they are this bad. The Xbox og had some amazing games, from jet set radio to halo 2. Loved every minute of that console.

Exactly! I am aware of the huuuge amount of exclusives the PS2 had, many pf them amazing. But I was a kid and couldn't get that many games. The ones i had were amazing, though. And they looked great.

Few games, but great games and great console.

jshackles

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
So fuckin excited for Morrowind

I have the disc still, but will buy the digital version when it becomes available.

I never put much stock in the value of this feature before, but as time has gone by the value is hitting me in the face. They are establishing a track record of one system that plays everything, and I think that is going to pay dividends in the next couple - few years when a new system launches. So many people with digital collections that have no residual value absent this kind of work. Will tempt a lot of people to switch brands if the competition does not follow suit, and letting you pay to stream old games is not the same thing. I bet it will also help maintain relations with the brick and mortar market who will be needed to sell consoles even if most people go fully digital, by letting them sell old games cheap but with high profit margins. Great work MS.

Its almost like they had this idea/master plan for an all-in-ONE system... they also incidentally called it the xbox ONE

Best part is they are finally going back to their original vision of Xbox when Don was CEO of XBox. A lot of sharing, and a lot of being able to play it anywhere.

yes, they had, but burried it. In an interview they said they had some buildin features from original xbox and xb360 so they could emulate it. So it always was a plan to have one xbox for everything, but well.. BC ... some laugh at this feature others (like me) want it.
As soon as there is a new Playstation that is compatible to PS2 & PS1 disc-based games, I buy it. Well PS3 games would be good, too, but that architecture seems to be much to complex to just emulate it. And adding the needed hardware is to cost intensive. Also I never liked PS3 games that much, I only used my PS3 for watching movies from blu ray, so at least I don't need this. But I really need a PS1 & PS2 compatible console that outputs a sharp image on a FullHD or 4k display. Some of the best games were on those two systems. And a little AA-filter to reduce the flickering would also be good for those old games.

btw, KOTOR 2 and Yager next, please :)
