19 pages in less than 24 hours? Looks like my first page prediction of a shitstorm came true.

Edit: my god, it's 35 pages. 35 pages! About Ryse's resolution! *shakes head*

It's 19 pages if you have your settings of the "Number of Posts to Show Per Page" option switched to "show 100 posts per page."

Makes it so much more easier to view posts/threads this way. :)

Edit: Wow, everyone's replying to traidenk's post.

HAH! I planned precisely for just this response :P

You fell right into my trap.

Dragons Dogma.

Performance Issues ? No. Having much more Omph on screen at cost of resolution and shitty letterbox ? Absolutely yes.

And could we stop already with this games are like movies so letterbox is ok ? Because they aren't. You play game, you need to see what is going on. Movies don't have that. They give you bunch of different shots perfectly composed to be not confusing to viewer.

Movies have this aspect ratio because they are created with that aspect ratio in mind and because in that ratio cinemas operate.
Games are not like that they can freely do with resolution what they want.

Someone mentioned that they could scale picture to 1080p. Sure they can but it would be pretty stupid for them to first create game in 800p to have much better Ophh on screen with 1080p IQ and then later upscale it and lose 1080p IQ.

As of letterbox itself. Could someone from defending camp explain be why you feel it is better for gameplay ? I am yet to see any person claiming letterbox in DD improved their fun with game. Most of the time it is shitty letterbox.

Fuck i should have stayed with 4:3 monitor. To think i could have all my PS3 games in "filmic" resolution ! DD and order would be like inception of "filmic" experience then.

This is literally the worst thing ive read today. You should be ashamed of yourself. Seriously, you must realize that your trolling isn't welcome here. When people are defensive, they try and divert the attention from what they are defending. We are talking about RYSE. I see RYSE in the thread title not The Order. Don't go arguing about what is and isn't an artistic choice when you know absolutely nothing about game development or the project in general. If you have inside knowledge, please provide it or stop posting. Useless nonsense like this only goes to fuel a fanboy war which cannot be won.

Disclaimer: on mobile sorry to not multi quote every one here and being short and flat on the answer.

The "filmy" letter box gives many more cycles on performance.
Developers state things to indicate design choices, what indeed are, but not for the reasons addressed.

Also as already replied it to me, "this how game development goes" and it's just fine, just don't blind believe in artsy excuses.

I vote for windowed version lol

IQ is not lower unlike ruse and KI compromise . if you read about from RAD, it clearly states why then went with that ratio. for the love of God I have a 1080p tv For a reason.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't see a single thing wrong with either Ryse or Killer Instinct's IQ. Especially as it relates to Ryse. I'm not seeing it. Have you seen the new vidoc for ryse? That's some incredible IQ.

Anyway, definitely done with this thread now. Not going anywhere. :)

erm.... Have you heard of a little series called God of War?

Games absolutely CAN be designed around and benefit from planned, fixed camera angles.

read the thread, 21:9 is the movie ratio because the main medium have this aspect ratio, the main games' medium are home TVs, 16:10, no reasons besides technical gimmick to boost performance.

aspect ratios on tvs change, from 4:3 to 16:9, and now there are some tvs which run at 16:10, but the supposed goal is to reach 2.4:1 at home.

if anything, people are going to see more aspect ratio changes from here on out instead of sticking to one aspect ratio for 100 years.

yes I did looks great even though it was 1080p version not 900p .but I complain about how everything is blurred draw distance and avg gameplay animation. But still for sure next gen.

Also you know you will be back, if I can get a quarter for every time you say that ;p
