Xbox One streaming to Windows 10 PCs and tablets announced

In Europe You Can Stream TV to any smartglass device (phones, tablets, pcs/laptops) since last year. :)
In The US it doesnt Work, due to licensing issues.

You can only stream content from the USB TV tuner though, not from the HDMI IN. So I suppose the licensing issues are similar in Europe, only the tuner allowed to circumvent them.

I thought remote play was coming to tablets and phones as well. Didn't Sony was showing it on their Z3 lineup?

Anyways too bad the remote play for X1 isn't supported over the internet. Would have been nice yo sneak in some games at work.

It's already in place, I tested out the streaming from PS4 to my Z3. Neat feature but I can't say a phone screen is the best place for PS4 games.

This is a fantastic announcement and I feel dumb for not seeing it coming - it's so obvious!

I also love the Xbox App. Really neat stuff.

Is it confirmed to be just in-home streaming?

Because that would diminish 90% of it's usefulness right there.

Depends if you live alone in a small apartment, or with others in house.
I know I will get use of it, but it would be better if they allow usage outside of your LAN as well.

Streaming to portable systems is useful - if you have a Windows 10 laptop or tablet, of course - but I can't see the utility of this on desktop PCs. I suppose if it works on those cheap slim PCs or you've installed Windows 10 on a Mac Mini it'd be a neat streaming box.

But regardless, a very cool feature. Doing it in reverse would be a good value-add for those who game on PC and XBO too.

This will be awesome if you can do external streaming access, guess setting up VPN would work if they only allow LAN

Hopefully the Internet can handle it, I doubt it though :(

I'm not seeing much reason to be excited for this, as someone who only has a gaming PC. I see no reason to stream an Xbox One game to my PC, it's a stream so it's not like I can enhance the experience.

Tablet, ok. PC? I see no reason to ever do this.

Really depends on your situation. For example, my TV/Xbox is in the same room as my PC. Sometimes when my GF wants to watch a TV show that I'm not interested in, I'll sort of half pay attention while I game on PC. If I could also play my Xbox games there whenever I needed, that would be useful to me.

Regardless, I think the main draw and push for this is to the portable Windows 10 machines (Laptops/tablets).

For some I am sure. For me it will be great. I only play at home and wouldnt want to play my Xbox One games on my tiny 5 inch phone. My daughters will use this all the time.

I was just reading about the new Raspberry Pi 2 that is supposed to run a version of Windows 10. What are the chances that we will be able to stream from an XB1 to this device? It looks like it has HDMI out, and it's only $35, which makes it seem like a great way to extend your XB1 into another room

I wonder how streaming will deal with different screen resolutions?
Does the xbox one have a good scaler that could be used?

This feature still needs to be refined. So far its fucking annoying.

1). I can not adjust volume at all. If I am watching a video on my PC, and want to mute the game sound? I can't. If I want to lower the game sound and increase party volume? I can't.

2). As soon as you minimize the app, streaming is off. Wtf? why? its it literally just a video player?

3). taking screenshot/recording fuck man. Missed some amazing MCC moments, didn't know how to record :(.

This is what I don't understand, isn't this literally just mirroring your Xbox? why are these volume adjustments, and recording feature not there? unbelievable.
