Xbox One - Walk into a store and pick it up?

During the WiiU launch there was a bunch of photos being posted on here showing piles of consoles still in stock.

All I'm seeing in this thread is a bunch of stories and an out of date inventory tracker.

Until we start seeing photos of XB1 in the wild at Best Buy and Target, I'm calling bullshit.

Kind of hard to post photos. My Target kept their Xbox's under the counter not out on display for everyone to see how many there are.

Target I went to today had three black box xbones, and two wii u boxes (one Zelda, one just nintendoland). They were sold out of Zelda 3ds xls and ps4s.

One of the three xbones was being sold as I was there looking for the Zelda 3ds.

I have three targets in my local vicinity (Culver City near Los Angeles). Every store I called claims to still have stock. Bait and switch to get you in the store or maybe the demand wasn't so great as to generate as much midnight launch interest or maybe the employee who is answering is just clueless?

I have heard complaints in the past where Target would sell pre-orders (albeit those reports were about games) to walk-ins so they could be including unclaimed pre-orders. Not sure what the pre-order pickup period is there. Then again...I don't think your average gamer pre-orders at Target either?

I pre ordered my Wii U and PS4 from Target, both experiences went flawless. For PS4 launch they had a separate line for pre orders vs walk ins so I got in and out quickly.

On the back of their pre order cards it says they hold the systems up to 7 days, so this could be some of the "in stock" reporting even if the systems aren't available. People who haven't picked up their system yet.

Apparently Madison, WI just got the exact number of pre-orders shipped in. Checked five stores and all of them were out. I have about seven more to check after work. I want to get one tonight so I can trade in the ol' 360 tomorrow for $100 at Best Buy. I don't want to be Box-less.

This thread is a mess. A bunch of people offering anecdotal accounts, and a bunch of others saying that the accounts are lying. What exactly is to be gained by this?

I predict you will begin to see many many photos in this thread.

Well, there's some from Europe, apparently. Taken at closing time.

My friend just bought 3(one for me, him and another friend of his) at our local Toys R Us. It's weird because I called them this morning and they told me they had NO extras, and only had preorder units left...

But he went in and bought 3, which did happen to be the last 3 left.

Strange, but cool. I got one!

I just walked out of the local Best Buy with one (early Xmas present from the wife!). They have about 3 dozen left.

EDIT: Battle Creek, MI

Two Fred Meyer in Snohomish County (Washington state) have them in-stock, as well as the one Target that I called. No PS4 stock still.

I've spent the entire day hunting and can't find a single Xbox One. I'm guessing some of these 'Best buy has 20' posts are bullshit. Every single place I called or visited sold out at opening.

then you have these posts from people who have not read the thread. Target.com is not updated. They are sold out in stores.
Could be your area. The Best Buy I live right next to in Houston, TX has sixteen left right now. Four people have bought one since they opened today.

Unfortunately, I don't have photos - Fry's was keeping them in the back (though it's more likely they were in the cage behind the checkout counter than actually in the back). Presumably, if they had PS4s, that's where they'd keep those too. I could have taken a picture of the couple dozen Wii U bundles they had though... ;)

In my case, my post was more of an informative "here's where you can get some!" post for people in the PDX area who are still looking rather than a 'haha, Xbone sucks, didn't even sell out!' post. Doubly so because Fry's is a good 15-20 minute drive outside of town, so making the drive out there if supply isn't available would just be a waste of time.

Just walked into my local Target (in DFW) to get the new Zelda and they seemed to have quite a few. People were looking at me like I was crazy for not getting one.
My co-worker did the same thing last night. I should ask him how that night went. :P Nvm, found out he bought a Xbox One with his new 3DS special edition.

Just walked into a Target in West Hollywood and bought one (two other coworkers bought one as well). They still had 20 XB1s behind the counter. They weren't even sticking to the 1 per customer thing - the clerk seemed shocked that I just wanted one.

one of my local best buy stores still has stock. i'm in ontario canada
Bullshit. It's inconceivable that a $500 system that has received less buzz in the lead up to its launch could have regional stock availability on launch day. I mean, look at the PS3! Sony had a standing wager for finding PS3s in stock!

Target appeared to be off when saying they had some in stock. I checked 3 different locations that the website said had stock, but unfortunately they didn't. Although at one location, the guy said that they're going to be getting a shipment of 4 more for sunday morning.

I'll give it a whirl then.

What's anecdotal about asking and then seeing them all behind the service desk as I paid for mine?

The implication is that you're making that fact up because you don't have a picture of the units. I suppose some people might have an agenda that they're trying to forward by saying they've seen Xbox One units in stock when they actually haven't, but most of us probably aren't like that. I didn't include a picture either, but in my case, the store definitely had units, was definitely selling them to people (so there is demand), and I'm sharing that fact only to help out people who are still looking in my area. If somebody wants to 'masturbate at ' that, as a previous poster mentioned, then I guess they can do that. If my observations help somebody who wants an Xbox One to get one, then I think I've done at least a little bit of good.

Salem OR here...

Seems like the dedicated gaming/electronics stores are pretty barren (Gamestops, MaPop stores and such) but the MECHA walmart and 2 Targets and Freddy's all have em in stock when i called. Granted the dude at Fred Meyer's was like "you better get down here man..." so it sounds like they might only have one or two units left.

No kidding.
It's all heresay at this point.

Don't me wrong though, I freaking wish it were true.
I want one now and I kind of regret not pre-ordering.

Right? My buddy's shipment from Amazon got messed up and he spent hours calling all around Richmond and could not find one available. Luckily he will be getting his Amazon order tomorrow. We both WISH they were just sitting there are Target, like their website says.

Yeah, I bet all these US-gaffers are totally trying to bamboozle the internet about this.
You think all these folks are making shit up?

I ran to Best Buy earlier to pick up a router and I saw they had 19 (you could see where one was missing so I'm assuming they had 20) on the customer service counter. Now I don't know if they were for preorders or what but I'm assuming those are the consoles they had for anyone to grab.

If they're over by customer service, I'd assume they were unclaimed pre-orders. They'll probably (mostly) be picked up by their buyers in the next couple days. I haven't been in a Best Buy for a long time though, so who knows how they do things these days?

In the end, I think the Xbox will sell out its initial allocation, just like the PS4 did - at least in the US. It might take a little while longer than for the PS4, but it is a more expensive system.

(As for that supposed Euro pic, though - if that's actually an 'after closing on launch day' picture like described, then the Xbox One is going to have a seriously uphill battle outside of the US. That's a lot of extra systems.)

Champaign Illinois Best Buy is sold out. Someone had posted on Craigslist earlier telling people not to give scalpers money, because BB had them. That person was either wrong, or his message was well received.

I'm going to need to see unedited footage with timestamps, today's newspaper, at least 3 forms of government identification including at least one form of photo identification and two personal references excluding family members before I believe anything I read in this thread.

Only been to Target, they had a few units it looked like, but I didn't count. Didn't seem to be a massive amount. Northeast Pennsylvania, Poconos

Edit: Wait, no I checked Wal-mart too when I went to pick up some food, and it was out of stock there.
