Xbox One - Walk into a store and pick it up?

The target near my work didn't seem to have the X1 at all. There was a demo station and section for the PS4 but for the Xbox it was just 360 stuff.

That person should be handed the keys to the city.

Haha. There were people doing it last week with the PS4 also. Granted, fuck those people, because I called a half dozen different stores and couldn't find one.

Craigslist around here has not been good for scalpers from what I've seen. There are pretty much no PS4s popping up and after the first day there were already people asking for $500 and occasionally less. Not many XBox One's popping up for much either.

I'm guessing this person is wishing sales were going better right now:

Just walked into my local BB (Culver City Mall) and they had stock to buy. You just had to ask and they went in the back to get one. No pre-orders necessary.

I still passed, kind of asked in jest, but was totally surprised they had them. Looks like there is some hope for people to walk in and grab one.

Folded yesterday and decided I would try and get one to go along side my PS4, but they're totally sold out everywhere in my area (UK). Have tried calling every shop I can think of, but no joy.

Pre-ordered one with shopto which is supposedly "guaranteed for Christmas"...We'll see.

Maybe they just shipped a shitload of units? We always assumed that MS has produced lesser units, maybe they are pretty alright in that regard. Does retailgaf have anything to say about this?

Day 1s?

only to possiblle escenarios :

1) "low" preorders so lots consoles avaliable to pick up

2) MS managed to produce lots of consoles , more than preorders.

I find difficult to believe 2 escenario to happen due the yield problems MS had.

I went to Best Buy to pick up Mario and Zelda and they didn't have any XB1s in stock. Also went to Fred Meyer to pick up some groceries and they were also sold out.

You can easily walk into the recently opened new Microsoft store at my mall on the Xbone Launch day. Plenty of room.

Xbone available at every store in my mall. EB Games, Toys R Us, Best Buy, and the Microsoft Store.

PS4 sold out everywhere. EB games showed me a 3 page waiting list for the PS4 too.

Kinda funny to see people in denial over something so trivial.

If it makes you guys feel any better, they will probably sell out by the end of the day, or tomorrow.

Target I work at in Minneapolis sold out within the first hour and it sounds like the other stores in the area sold out as well. I didn't ask how many units they received and since I work in pharmacy, don't have access to any information like that.

Can the people saying there are available xboxs near them please post WHERE...

• Story Name
• Intersection
• City

so us people looking for them have a chance to buy one?

I thought this thread was to help fellow gaffers out and it's turned into another thread where people troll, gloat, taunt, fanboy, etc.

I just left Champaign:(

Just called, guess none of them do. Broke ass websites.

don't know if true. but when i was trying to score a 2nd ps4 for my lady, i mentioned their site said they are in stock. and the guy said it's pre-order copies that weren't picked up yet.

a day later targets website removed the ability to search in stock on ps4. walmarts site apparently does the same thing as well.

again. this is claims from random employees, which i'd assume is true. but i have no way to back up.

I ended up scoring a second ps4 using this site: http://www.zoolert.com/videoconsoles/xbox-one-console/trackers/ Just be sure to turn Alerts on, and leave the window running in the background. If a major retailer has them available online, it'll start making noises. It auto refreshes every 1 minute.

Seems like the PS4 is a harder find (speaks to the power of the lower price point?). And Polygon is reporting that Best Buy is very confident they can stock both regularly during the holidays.

I know, I know Lulz Polygon reporting but here is the link

The Source.

I was at the store earlier when I witnessed an employee knocking over, and being subsequently crushed, by a giant pile of Xbox One systems.

"If only we could sell these things" were his dying words.

Well, not exactly, I saw a couple as I was buying a game but I don't know if they were real boxes or what. I love the drama and warring in these availability posts though, in a sincere fashion. The Wii U ones were fun last year too.

If this abundance of unsold Xbox Ones existed I'd be playing Killer Instinct right now instead of making phone calls to every store within a 50 mile radius. That's all I'm saying.
There are a bunch at various retailers around here. I helped a few friends who didn't go last night find some in stock. Fry's, Best Buy, Target, etc. had some but that was earlier this morning. Sunnyvale / San Jose area (California).

I'm pretty sure the demand and availability will differ per city / state / etc.

My friend near Seattle said their store had ~30 left of ~140 at midnight.

Edit: PM me if you're interested - I don't want to possibly get him in trouble

The Best Buy I work at isn't getting in another shipment of xbones or DatQuad until December. Haven't heard any noise about further shipments, but basically if you're in the Bay Area and you didn't preorder then good luck getting one from Best Buy until then.

After not preordering because I really didn't think I wanted one, got up this morning, drove around for an hour going to 5 retailer & 2 indies all sold out preorders only.

Stroll into GAME where I have my PS4 preordered to go and pay it off, low & behold there's a customer just ring up & confirm he wants to cancel his XBone preorder, Fucking beautiful, so I'm still to pay off my PS4 & I'm £600 lighter but so far so good.

Got to target at 8am to get games and would have had no problem getting a regular edition they had extra. But got DR3,Ryse and Forza 5 for $88+ tax. Was exchanging BF4 from the b2g1 deal last week but the lady put it in the bag and I didnt realize until I was Almost home. $88+tax for 4 games is awesome.

yeah, awesome if you have zero integrity. bring it back, dude.

some best buy dude called me in a panic begging my to buy an xbox one, employees can barely move around in that store without bumping into one

Most Targets have them here in St. Louis. Id say only about 3/15 are sold out as of now.
Are you using the web site or calling?

Its been confirmed that the Target web tracker isn't up to date.

Update:
I think I may have tracked one down at a BB near me, the dude needs to check with his manager if he can sell it. On hold... crossing my fingers.

That's nonsense.

You are projecting your personal experience of one data point on hundreds, and expecting the exact same result everywhere. C'mon, now.

Although I agree that it would be nice if this thread was also helpful to get people to buy consoles if they can't find one.

Can you give a ballpark for how many day one PS4s your store received vs day one X1's?

Best Buy and Future Shop in Langley, B.C. are both sold out of XBONEs now.

FutureShop at Landsdowne (Richmond) and Best Buy (Metrotown) has some stock. All other stores look like they are sold out.

I been using the web I will be honest.

I think it's important to remember that selling out isn't always even. Some areas will be wiped out well before others because they never seem to get the allocation right.

Don't jump to conclusions. Unless he posts which mall there's no way to verify what he's saying. We could easily call the stores if we had more info.

Unfortunately the majority of people posting stories of shelves filled with xboxs neglect to mention which exact stores. At the very least if they posted the info, GAFfers could use the info to purchase them since many of us are SoL in our hunts.

Can you give a ballpark for how many day one PS4s your store received vs day one X1's?

Around 400-ish PS4s + nearly 100 for people who didn't preorder
300-ish xbones + 40 for people to walk in

I wasn't involved in inventory/counting, but those were the numbers told to me last week and last night.

I work at the Colma location, also. We had the most preorders for both systems, which means all the other stores in the district got a lot less systems than the count I just gave.
