Xbox One Wireless Controller, Charge Kit and Chat Headset available for pre-order

i've had my first PS3 controller for 5 years and use it all the time and shows no signs of dying anytime soon and i don't have to go out and buy any extra batteries of a battery pack
all rechargeables die sooner or later. If yours lasted 5, great will it last 10? If you take care of the 360/XB1 controllers they should last a lifetime.

Xbox still behind in the times for the controller still needing a external batteries or battery pack to power the controller another reason the PS4 is better then the Xbone.
I don't even care that I have to use rechargeable batteries, I'm so glad I never have to spend $100 on a mixamp again.

just the name i been hearing people call the Xbox one alot shorter and i'm sticking to it
X1. XB1. Shorter and they don't look stupid. You're welcome.

PS 4.0, 3.5, 3.0, 2.5 its as dumb as calling the XB1 the Xbone.

I do agree that a nick name that only saves 3 character spaces is a bit weak, but it's just a short version of Xbox One. XB One. Xbone. Just seems to have caught on. There was a GAF thread vote after the reveal, Xbone was by far the most popular vote.

"We have a microphone for those who don't like wires, it's called Kinect."

I'm sure they'll release a wireless headset fairly quickly.

I know about this and I think it's down right stupid. Who the hell wants to hear screaming through their surround sound?

Really think Microsoft is stupid for not including the wired headset in the box and releasing the wireless headset at launch.

PS180 is charging for online, I should take a vote. Come on, its childish.

Unfortunately I think the XO has already nabbed that one lol.

I think it'd only seem childish to those too invested in it all. It's funny. Call the consoles whatever you want.

I think it's pretty stupid too, a decision I'm hoping they go back on. An Xbox One dev (possible PR person) that posts on the Xbox One subreddit keeps hinting that the XB1 might infact ship with a headset. So fingers crossed.

OMG, Should I quote your posts?

Here you go. Did it for you.

Are saying the PS4 is next next gen? Don't be silly, it's not that much more advanced than the XO...

I was poking fun at the fact that your name for the console was likely to have the opposite of the desired effect.

I've had a PS3 controller last me 6 years, and it still works. I'm not really worried about that.

Really? Mine are still going but I'm a long term guy.

I'm a tad worried that one day in the future my controllers will be dead and I might struggle to source a new one.

Batteries are the better option. Also means that if I only own one controller, I never need to wire it.

I get that its trendy to hate the Xbox One right now, but its borderline illogical to view in built battery as the better option. It just isn't, at all.

You can change the battery on a PS3 controller, it isn't as easy but it ain't hard either.

Wii U Controller Pro comes with a massive rechargeable that's completely replaceable. AA batteries aren't offering longevity, Sony's controllers just lack it by design.

Yeah, it's a very very bad decision.

I realize the Kinect functions as a mic...but really?

Multiplayer games on PS3 were pretty much DEAD quiet a vast majority of the time.

I think the mic boiling down to "talking to your tv" will actually encourage more people to talk.

I tend to replace my remotes within 5 years. The only reason I didn't replace this is because I have two now and this one being a non-rumble one makes it less valuable to sell.

It would be an absolutely terrible decision, I really hope they change their minds

We agree on something!

And yeah, not a fan of the decision. When I eventually get an Xbone, I very much would like a headset to come with it. I usually game with a headset anyways, but mine is PS3 exclusive since it's the Sony branded one.

On my 360, I used the bundled headset almost exclusively and it worked perfect and sounded great.

Not a smart move by MS.

and this happened because I replied ps4.5 from someone saying Xbone

You're just not a fan of Xbone and Xbox180..it's ok.

Yet another reason why Microsoft can take a fucking hike.

I have had SO MANY of the stupid play and charge kits just flat out stop working for me.

Its clearly about preference but I dont think saying that will stop the "Another reason why PS4 is better" type posts.

Isn't the Polk 4 Shot a wireless chat/game audio headset that is coming out at launch and is officially licensed like the Astro a50's? I think it is fully wireless, but don't quote me on that, it may require the wire from controller to headset. If it is in fact wired to controller then the $160 pricetag is abuse.

A wired Xbox One controller for PC will really REALLY make my day:)

Outside of rumble triggers and improved d-pad (which I rarely use for character control on PC games), what's it going to offer that makes it so superior to the already wonderful 360 controller that you should already have?

I love my 360 controller on my PC, but I'm not seeing the kinds of improvements to warrant a $60 purchase.

I get that its a preference, but its hard to come up with a sound argument as to why its better.

If the batteries/battery pack die, I can swap them out. I never need to wire my wireless controller.

As a collector, in 10/15/20 years when these battery packs are dead dead, I can go with fresh AAs.

There's almost no reason to see an internal as the better option. Weight? Maybe?

Lots of tension here.

I know this, I will buy one of these new controllers as long as they don't require batteries.

I will end up buying something like the play and charge PC pad I have now. If I see the price as a worthy proposition. Doesn't seem like it now but the goal is to update from this controller to the new on.

It is the same price as a Xbox 360 controller which doesn't come with a built in battery :P

Well that answers one of my inquiries.

That's not good.

Will have to hold out for one with a rechargeable. You would think these new controllers would come with a lithium.

Not having to buy anything extra would probably be the argument but thats really the only one I can think of.

You can buy a controller that comes with a rechargeable pack + charge cord for $75

But the base model doesn't include it. (Can also buy the rechargeable pack + cord standalone for $25)

Good and bad about built-in battery pack for PS3/PS4 just like good and bad for Xbox 360/Xbox One. I rather just use AAs.
Like I stated, I get that people like batteries, but why does that mean they can't include a rechargeable battery pack with the controller? It is cheap as hell of MS when the competition has been doing it for years.
