I think Crackdown may launch in April timeframe. I see Sea of Thieves and Halo Wars in Feb. Scalebound in March and Crackdown in April...well it could also be March but I think they need an April game (and I hope it's not Scalebound, I can't wait another year...lol)

What do you guys think this console will end up being called?

Alright I'll start the guessing.

'Super Xbox God Super Xbox'

Or

Super Xbox Blue for short. :)

I have a feeling Sea of Thieves is going to be your April or May game, honestly.

I mean the launch model with the power brick. The S model should have lower manufacturing costs.

you can't compare a refurb to retail, though.

It may have lower manufacturing costs. Rarely does that pass to the consumer though. Especially when they tout new features (4K BD-ROM, HDR)

I thought I heard it is in the February timeframe...to me that's Jan-March...April could be it. I think if they were doing 1 AAA title per month it would be:

Feb: Halo Wars 2
March: Sea of Thieves
April: Scalebound
May: Crackdown 3

That would actually be preferable to me (give me some time to play).

Name: Xbox One Pro or Xbox One +

I don't think they 'll do a name like Xbox One 4K since it does VR as well. They could go with Xbox Elite though. (Yes, I know that they have a Xbox One Elite bundle)

They need to pass it to the consumer, unless they don't want to compete against Sony...

This machine is going to be almost 5x more powerful than your typical bone. Games are going to need to look better than just a simple "touch-up." They need to justify the monstrous price tag this thing will have.

Seems there are predictions all over the place for the price.

But that's what the XBox One S is for. They serve two different purposes... Scorpio is not a new generation.

Not a new generation, so "again" doesn't apply here.

Yet again, not the same situation. This is not a generational launch.

Yup, at absolute minimum. In nobody's mind is $399 a "premium price."

I highly doubt anyone was unaware of the difference between this and a regular launch, but carry on.

Xbox One Ultra (HD) will be the name, with Sony bagging PS4K.

Hope they are anyway, both pretty cool and to the point.

Hmm, I know they kept 'One' in the name for the Xbox One S, but do you really see them keeping that in place for this new system? It seems like such a drastically different kind of Xbox. Would they really keep it in the 'One' family of Xbox Products? I see how it makes sense, but somehow I see them wanting to move away from that, and even I kinda want them to. This may sound pretty silly but you'd be surprised the number of times people told me that they had no idea the Xbox One was a newer, more powerful Xbox and the successor to the Xbox 360. It was mostly more informed gamers, or people who knew hardcore gamers that gave them proper information, that were able to discern this simple fact. A lot of other people were, and continue to be in some cases, in the dark about this very simple fact.

I'm not sure what they'll end up calling, but I don't know if it should be in the One family.

I'm not sure what they'll end up calling, but I don't know if it should be in the One family.

When Spencer announced it during the E3 conference he said it was an addition to the Xbox One family.

If they aren't going next gen and everything is still cross compatible then they have to keep the name I think. But who knows, marketing teams can find lot's of ways to spin things.

I would have preferred that they drop the XB1 and just move on, but that's perhaps a bit unrealistic in todays market and in such a short space of time. I still think a non VR exclusive game or two will show up at some point though. It all depends on attach rate and install base.

Besides, I quite like Xbox One Ultra. Make it happen Phillis!

I'm pretty confident the Scorpio will $399 at launch. Phil Spencer is pretty adamant about 'learning from the Xbox's past mistakes,' and one of its biggest mistakes was releasing at $499 - well north of the competition. Not to mention that we currently have a 5.5 flop GPU from AMD that's $199, and we're about 16 months away from the Scorpio's release at this point. Microsoft suggests that this is simply a continuation of Xbox One, but it's pretty clear it's a means of fixing a lot of issues they had out the gate with the launch of XB1.

I'm so curious to see what the visual differences will be between the XS and XBigDick. Man this is exciting times

That's the official name to be announced early next year. "We're pleased to announce the XBigDick, the next Xbox in the Xbox One family".

Personally, I can't wait to see what 343 does with Halo because I absolutely believe we'll be getting a full title next year with them really going hard with what the Scorpio will be able to do.

dont do this to me, I completely wrote off the possibility of a full Halo with Scorpio.

I dont need that hype.

They need to release a big game with it. It should be Halo 6 or a gigantic new IP. Are there going to be Scorpio only games? Or will all the games still run on the One?

I doubt we see Scorpio only games for 2-3 years after the launch of the Scorpio. Next E3 I expect every game to be showcased running on the Scorpio because everything will look incredible with Spencer being sure to mention everything that's coming will also work on the Xbox One and Xbox One S.

Ah, I never knew he was there : )

Guessing we'll be getting a dedicated event around May next year?

Panay will be sitting on the ground in a Playboy pose in clothes made for someone 30 years younger than him. Frodo will be there drinking Mountain Dew. All live on SpikeTV.

It's a brave new world, indeed!

Games will look absolutely pristine on Scorpio, but they will still work on the OG and the One S. They stated numerous times that no one will get left behind.

I hope it's not just vanilla Xbox One games rendered at 4K resolution. It will most likely be MS first party output that goes for this target but hopefully third party devs push as much as they can at 1080p.

I want to see 1080p/30fps exclusive games that look like CGI. And 6TF can do it.

I think most people would but I'm not sure if MS feels games rendered at 4K would be a bigger selling point to consumers. They may have consulted third party devs and were told it would take too much time & resources to update Xbox One assets and would be better to bump their existing games up to 4K if they're forced to support both platforms. I'm just speculating because if that is the case then Neo may follow a similar path (maybe rendered at a 2K buffer and scaled to 4K)

After Phil's initial comments about comments about Scorpio & 4K, despite clarifying & stating devs have freedom to use the power as they see fit, the focus may be on pushing 4k.

Man, it's crazy that we're on the verge of having this type of power on consoles. Games are going to look absolutely nuts with very little held back assuming games utilize the resources in the right way and don't blow it all on ultra resolution alone. And even if they do go nuts on resolution, we're still likely to get games that look downright gorgeous.

With this type of power we shouldn't get the short end of the stick on shadow quality, lighting, special effects, and all sorts of other visual niceties.

Yes but 4k will not justify a $499-$599 price point for a mid-gen upgrade. There has to be the promise of something greater.

Devs are not up to it. Easiest way to support Scorpio to either make it 4k or if you have a PC port, use the best looking config on Scorpio.

I'll be satisfied with games as devs are currently making them just turned up to 11. That's more than enough. If specific devs want to go even more nuts, and make something even crazier looking than normal, then I'm all for it, but we're likely to only see that from first parties.

For example, I don't see it as being impossible that the Scorpio version of a game receives much superior LOD models for given circumstances, and that goes a long way towards separating scorpio from xbox one.

I am curious as to how much work it would take to make games work on both MS systems. As I understand it the PSNeo shouldn't add too much more work because it has basically identical architecture as the PS4. On the other hand what we know about the Scorpio is that at the current "specs" there's no way it could have the same architecture as the Xbox One, especially if they decide to change the cpu as to not bottle neck the gpu. Wouldn't this create a lot of headaches for developers? Just curious if anyone could answer / correct me. Someone with development experience preferably.

I have a question I would like to ask and its somehow a serious a question and not a troll post at all.

By the time this new Xbox comes out, the 1080 gtx should be cheap. from my understanding, the GTX 1080 and the 1070 are still way more powerful than this.

assuming the xbox scorpio is around 450$, and all the xbox games are coming to pc. Why would someone buy the new xbox one and not buy a video card like the new GTX ?

I am no longer seeing any value inthe xbox as a console. Don't get me wrong I love MS games like forza halo etc. but if I get the option, why would i buy them on Xbox when I can have them on PC with probably better graphics ?

Is it to give gamers an ( option ) to buy the games on whatever format they like to buy ( PC, Xbox, probably one day future TVs etc ) ?

I am really just considering selling my xbox console with all the games i have and just buy the games i want on PC ( i already have Killer Instinct )
