Where did it say 12 tflops? why didn't phil say 12 tflops. is this 12 tflops vega? has to be.
It's does not have to be Vega they announced they were using Navi way back during the motherboard video.

The Xbox Series X will include a custom-designed CPU based on AMD's Zen 2 and Radeon RDNA architecture. Microsoft is also using an NVMe SSD on Xbox Series X, which promises to boost load times. Xbox Series X will also support 8K gaming, frame rates of up to 120 fps in games, ray tracing, and variable refresh rate support.

where did 12tflop confirmed come from?
When Phil said 2 x the power of Xbox One X. I updated my post with a quote. Read it again. This was on TV so the people watching dont understand the differences between RDNA and GCN. But numbers are numbers and efficiency is efficiency. TFLOPS only stand for power being used, and doesn't really tell you how efficiently the console will use that power. RDNA makes it super efficient, which Phil touched on.

Some supposed leaker on Ree that everyone seems to trust. He also said it was slightly more than 12tf, and it was Navi flops.

but ps5 is still more powerful? ya its 40CU's running very hot hence the design. expect loud and hot consoles. will buy extra cooling pad for my box.

PS5 slightly more powerful according to him, but that it could change. He said the difference is like the XB1 vs the S (1.32 vs 1.42tf).

To give some idea.

" Series X's square footprint is roughly as wide as an Xbox One controller and (again, roughly) three times as tall."

That's not right, at all. How can it be three times as tall as a pad but only one times it's height, when it's a 2:1 shape?

The unit is about 28cm tall and 14cm wide. An Xbox controller is just under 15cm.

They got it wrong. Look at the pics, it's clearly twice as tall as it is wide, not three times. Look at the disk slot for sizing.

Edit: I would give errors of about 2cm, so at max it's about 30cm ish tall. But three times? Nah.

No this thing is far worse

You cant even put it on the table cos it will block your tv

You literally have to put it on your floor or lower cabinet ( in case it fit) so it doesnt block your view

Not to mention the ventilation of this console seems to come from the top

So if you put it in a close narrow cabinet it will block the heat and could posibly cause overheating issues

That exactly what I'm afraid of as well. It doesn't really fit in my cabinet, at least not in the space where my XBX and PS4 Pro are. And even if I change it to make it fit, I'm a bit afraid about the cooling as there is most likely only a few inches of space.
This would mean that I need to put it on top of the cabinet which isn't an option for me.

You can put it on its side like a normal console, unless you mean it wont fit even on its side.

Do you think they'll announce an Xbox S series? And that they are going to champion infinite BC and just release future consoles under these names, and go with the "beyond generations" model? 🤔

Not going to lie, I like it..alot.

Clean & minimalist ...an object lesson in less is more. Well done Microsofts industrial design team! It would have been so easy to go with a OTT, bombastic design to match the power inside but the temptation was resisted.

..It's also a design that lends itself very well to custom design special editions later in the consoles lifetime.

yeah one thing I haven't spoke about is the pad. I'm happy its the same form and everything, and there's a share button now too, but... Its just too minimal. They have done some weird ass shit with the dpad and it looks awful, from a usability point. Like it will cut into your fingers. But nothing else...? I see some new triggers on the back, slightly, but nothing? At all? No motion control? No mic? No resistive triggers? No anything...?

It just looks... The same. And that's not a massive thing, the xbox pad was far, far better than the PS4 one. For me anyway. But... I expected, I dunno... More?

Cerni will walk on strange and speak in that silly voice about how they have Sony flops, and that their slightly slower speed will be faster in reality, and sony fan boys will eat it up. Same as always. They still harp on about how the X can't hit 4k, even though it does, quite a lot even. But then the goal posts move to performance.

To be fair, I'm surprised there aren't more sony fan boys in here right now laughing. I mean this name is utterly STUPID and the design is a bit daft as well. I'm on their side here.

Regardless, both consoles, no matter how takes the lead on power, are going to be utterly fantastic, and I'm going to be poor as shit next year.

Oh how cute, throwing the partisan bait to troll people some more and get a raise out of them 😜?

What you said would be even better if it was in the same sentence about quoting RDNA higher efficiency over GCN when discussing about 2x the GPU performance over the X and how that is absolutely not a rushed half step like the Pro was ;).

That's how most/almost all people place their consoles, and that's exactly what I wouldn't call "functional" - it's literally 3x as tall as X1X, and almost twice as tall as the OG VHS... For most people who have their consoles placed inside a TV stance this thing simply won't fit no matter what, MS cut down the depth by half which doesn't change a thing, while doubled-trippled the height, at the same width.

At this point I'm really curious about the cooling system design, the whole thing reminds me of the can-like Mac Pro,but who knows.

These two pics are quite good to judge absolute size, but you cannot push for so high performance numbers and keep a small box.

Don't like the name. Design is kinda growing on me... Next year is gonna be interesting, don't know yet whether I'm gonna go with the PS5 or this new X tower.

I don't get it, the console looks okay. No need to be in arms about the design. I'm a fan of simplicity myself, I take this tower brick over the V PS4 spaceship design any day (yes I know it's the dev build design).

I am very excited about the seamless aspect of the next generation, it's literally the first one where both platforms claim to have backwards compatibility. Like, I've never before bought a new console generation and had proper games to play... now I have thousands of games to dive into until the new ones come out.

The design it's awesome, really really good. The controller looks dope as always. If i spare some money in the future i definitely buy it. Likewise , hope PS5 do something more spicy

I wonder if there will be a Project Scarlett version as there were the Day One Edition when Xbox One first came out and then the Project Scorpio version of Xbox One X.

Did you see the PS5? Lol

Also portable. WTF why does this matter?

Having a QUIET console on the living room is MUCH MUCH MUCH more important that portability. I don't need a JET ENGINE in my living room. And the PS5 is definitely going To be a fucking JET ENGINE.

The PS5 is going to be a Saturn V lifting off if the Pro is anything to go off of.

I like the design but I'm not sure the size (as measured on its shallowest side) is practical for many setups, including mine. For practical purposes, it should have a shallower side.

It probably won't fit a cabinet (open) shelf, and standing up on top of the media table it will probably cover the soundbar. Laying down is a possibility but it will also look extremely imposing, and more like a central speaker. Which ok you can learn ignore, but it will look outdated when they come up with a smaller version of it.

I'm sure the square footprint is optimized for cooling, I just hope the practicality aspect doesn't cost them sales.
