I guess to be fair I don't think Microsoft themselves have ever used the word slim (?), they could just consider this a redesign.
 
Does that mean HD now goes internal? Or does it still attach to the top of it?
The old external HD doesn't seem to look any good on the new XBOX 360 design.
If it does go on top of it though, then it means the new 360 is just going to be as wide as the old one...

Microsoft has never mentioned a redesign at all. They can still pull this announcement and go back to the drawing board.

When did Microsoft ever claim they were designing a SLIM Xbox 360? Or redesigning the console at all?

Many posters mentioned months ago that a redesign could very wel be the existing size but with the power brick built in.

Looks like that's what we're getting.

Microsoft going without a proprietary HDD casing? HAHAHA
If it's not externally mounted then more likely it'll be a 2.5" drive sealed into the unit. Maybe they figure that 250GB is more than enough for most users. After all the first Xbox was stuck with 8GB forever, but then we didn't really have DLC or anything back then.

This explains it all, obviously this is a design for the new Metal Gear. MGS: DENT is gonna be exclusive to Kinetic. Truly this will be Kojima's masterpiece. Ha, I just solved this shit.

Agreed. I'd love to see Matrix come on stage and go "Well we were going to announce a 360 redesign, but you ruined it so it's not coming any more"

I don't see anywhere where they could put the power brick in... Try fitting the motherboard template into that box there is almost no space left (especially since the disc tray bay is still there).

Kinect is the new Natal name
Old Man poster here hinted at an animal game related to natal in name, Natalimals = Kinectimals or whatever.

The new console has 250gig storage, (built in?)
Built in Wi-Fi
removal of memory card slots (going by motherboard leak and 360 gaining usb storage use)
New console slightly thinner in size, but looks shit.
 
i hope the power supply is still as big and external just for the lolz.

maybe an extra power brick to power the power brick or something

Honestly I have a slim and it isn't my favorite design. That said this redesigned 360 makes the PS3 slim look like Michelangelo's David.

Expectations are so low, now they can pull an average conference and people will think they won E3!

They didn't say it but every recent console redesign in memory has involved it getting smaller and more heat-efficient.

I wonder what the Arcade version of this thing is going to be though. No HDD, but w/Kinect? Or no Kinect at all, 60GB HDD at $199? That's going to be interesting.

I seriously hope they drop the Arcade, I mean come on. You cannot even use this junk, without the harddrive. And don't tell me about the USB storage, 16 GB is not the solultion :)

I love the matt texturing on it and the front mirrored bezel with the back lit lights, really classy.
