XBOX360ATON! Ping Pong Pals (Rockstar) announced!

hahahaha

Project Sabotage moved to US now? :p

And here I thought they'd at least wait for N3 to start hyping here.

Do they really think that anyone would seriously spend $40 on a table tennis game? This is more homo than a Brokeback mountain game. They might as well make a pedicure game next.

Okay, this sounds kind of cool (and online play will definitely be a riot), but part of me can't help but think this is sort of an insult to MS. They finally get an exclusive title from RS..and it's a ping pong game.

But I'm getting a little bit ahead of myself in my indignation, who knows it could be fun, but like I said...they could have been working on other stuff that people would actually have killed for.

Okay, so you'd rather Rockstar San Diego be working on Midnight Club 4? And people would have killed for it?

There was a C64 ping pong game, i loved it. Maybe they will use the right analogue stick, kinda like Fight Night.

"I like it!"

I think Kobold just wasn't making a distinction between Rockstar studios, and was implying people would "kill them" for not working on GTA instead.

Of course, Midnight Club 4 is a billion times more awesome of an idea than Ping Pong.

The Ping Pong game by Konami was one of my most played game on my good old MSX. Very interesting choice of gameplay too, were you were choosing the type of shot and the hand was moving by itself.

My first reaction: Yeah sure, wtf?

But this could actually be a lot of fun!

At least it's NOT COMING FROM EA!

No "Ping Pong 06"...

I'd heard mention of this (well, the name) from someone at a company that has been working on a part of the game for Rockstar. I thought he was talking BS and being sarcastic - especially when he said the name was 'Pong'!

I dunno man, I love the idea. Coming from Rockstar it'll probably (hopefully) be humorous, too. I just find it funny because this idea really DID come straight outta left field. Rockstar + ping pong?? Nope. Kobold etc. were right. Never would've guessed in a hundred years.

Wow, what will PS3 be able to do to compete with exclusives like this?

:lol :lol :lol :lol

Table Tennis 360 is key to winning the next gen console wars.

This is much cooler than another Midnight Club game imo. :)

Although I think the 40 dollar pricepoint is a little high. 30 dollars or 20 bucks would be just right.

Priced at 40 bucks, it probably will move units. I applaud them for coming out with something different. If it is a good game, people will buy it. Could be the next Geometry Wars. A different game that gets hot.

That Take Two stock will jump on this news for sure!!!

OK?.....

A great man once said....."I couldn't be more shocked if I woke up with my head stapled to the carpet."

$40 sounds good to me.

I just wanted to rub it in. :D
It's a bit of a pet peeve, that kind of developer ignorance. Though I find it more annoying when people talk about "another <Publisher X> game".

Rockstar also announced Hopscotch 2006, Winter Olympic Curling and National Spelling Bee Championship.

So which would you rather have, Top Spin 2 or Ping Pong for $40? I'll stick with the real tennis, thank you very much.

I'll be getting both! :D

Both games will play completely different.

No interest in a ping pong game for me. This is an odd choice of a game for RockStar, but it's not one that gets me upset/angry over the fact that they could be working on a new GTA or anything. They have plenty of resources and it's not like they're wasting time on this. Just a different game for them.

Yeah, who new that the next graphical showpiece for the 360 would be a ping pong game?

Tempest in a teacup. I wish there was a more manly phrase for that, but I was totally put off by IGN's presentation of the announcement. It exemplifies for me one of the biggest flaws of game journalism, the geeky 'show off' nature of the writers who seem so interested in letting everyone know the games they play that YOU CAN'T and the people they know that YOU DON'T.

How can people say things like that without any impressions of this game?

IGN says release in May, is this confirmed by R.?
