XBOX360ATON! Ping Pong Pals (Rockstar) announced!

Even on Revolution this would be laughed at. I guess it's cheaper than a ping pong table, and now you barely have to move. When's Air Hockey Pals coming out Rockstar?!

The biggest problem with this game is that I cant see how its going to top the real thing, they would be better off taking some core elements of the ping pong gameplay and masking into something much more creative.

I cant see it selling well.

So Revolution gets a Hard-Gay Golf game and Xbox 360 gets a Ping-Pong game from... Rockstar.

It's up to Sony to save us from the next-gen ghetto !!

Unpossible.

But here's to hoping....

what...I go to sleep with different games floating in my mind and the game we've been clamoring over is this?....

what

Though, I guess this dispels any claim that people have had in the past about making real good models and visuals in general. It may be a Ping Pong game but its a real good looking Ping Pong game.

This is the big news that greets me as I return from work...

Yeah, I think most of us knew it was going to be something that sucked.

My prophecy was true - it was LAME!

Well, i got the publisher right!

This reminds me of when IGN was hyping up an "exclusive SEGA gamecube game" years ago and everyone was like "OMG SKIES OF ARCADIA 2! NO, VIRTUA FIGHTER 4!!" and we ended up with Sega Soccer Slam and about 3 people bought it. I expect the same thing with this. Table tennis? I mean, honestly, table tennis? This is about as exciting as a new billiards, or Texas Hold'em game. Table tennis?

C'MON!

Neat. Although it is Rockstar San Diego, and not, say, Rockstar North.

People seem to forget that Rockstar North comes from DMA Design, whose credits include Lemmings, Space Station Silicon Valley, and some deathmobile racing game.

Okay, so only one of those games is actually nonviolent in the gaming sense, but you get the idea.

Sega Soccer Slam was awesome.

Rockstar gives 360 an exclusive Ping Pong game, and gives PS3 an exclusive next-gen GTA. That's how it's gotta be :D

Well... At least we don't get yet another boring FPS or adventure or a barely upgraded sequel. And table tennis is fun in real life and since it's Rockstar that is developing the game I have no worries that the game should be fun too. Judging by the interview it sounds like they're really serious about it anyway. And the graphics seem to be on par with FN3. Amazing details and shadow system. This is not laughable in any way as far as I'm concerned. If they get the framerate up to a solid 60 and make it fast enough gameplay wise it should a real blast to play with a friend.

But yeah, I would've been happier if VF5 was announced...

I'll probably buy it, but WHAT?! Who are you targeting here, Rockstar? Xbox owners like the killing games you make. Release those.

I don't know...

There's a reason why Ping Pong hasn't been done before. It's a basement game.

It makes as much sense to me as releasing a Foosball videogame.

Awesome news. The C64 game was very good aswell so I think it will be very fun. Hopefully some of the stars from the 80s will be in this game aswell.

:lol yeah, i'm late to the thread, but this is awesome. shame i missed yesterdays hyping event. gotta love ign :P

table tennis could be a lot of fun if done right. it certainly looks pretty incredible and i'm excited to see what they are doing with "advanced animations".

Aside from the ridiculous-sounding notion of a next-gen table tennis game...I'm interested in this, at least for online play.

That, and it looks real good

The fact that it looks so nice is the most hilarious part.

You could really eliminate the tension in a graphics war thread by posting one of these.

:lol

Could this actually be more detailed than a FN3 boxer?

Everything about the article (and subject matter) screams "this game started life as a next-gen tech demo" It seems like a smart move for them to try making some cash off of the transition period, when they're probably doing a lot of tools development and just feeling out the hardware. Sounds fun, but I don't know if I'd spend $39 on it unless I could play it with a paddle peripheral.

Well hurry up and pay it off then.

*shakes head*

Nonetheless, the game is probably good if they are going to base this on such a secular sporting event. It's like how Geometry Wars started off as an in-house demo game at Bizarre.
If it is fast paced like the actually game, this looks to be a good game.
