Worst RPG last generation. I'd honestly rather play Final Fantasy XIII again than Xenoblade.

Nope. Like that throughout the game. *shrugs*
The 3D effect is almost like the one found in the average Lego game on the 3DS, just with a little more depth. Such a missed opportunity.
By the way some were asking about music compression and I can say that, with the headphones on, I can't hear any noticeable difference from the Wii version. Now, the 3DS speakers are another thing... (still really good)

I love it to be honest.
It made the battles so exciting. And it gave us iconic one-liners. I'M REALLY FEELING IT.
The combat system is indeed pretty bad.
But the acting is quite good (and you get used to the voices), and the story is definitely not cliche as it seems to be.
If you can look past the battles, then you will find a pretty good game underneath it. You should try it again.
It's a mediocre game at best, but I wouldn't go that far.Worst RPG last generation. I'd honestly rather play Final Fantasy XIII again than Xenoblade.
I have a Japanese n3ds but my Japanese isn't great, is there a good resource out there that will help me understand everything? A particular walk through that won't ruin the game entirely?
It wasn't; the devs have been very honest and open about their struggles to make this port work. I think they did the best that they could.
Well, I've already discussed that (offering again to go look for the link of the thread where I say that), but I'll say that the battle system in this game is bad (the customization is great, when you actually start fighting an enemy then everything goes out the window).theelights its one thing to say that you didnt like the combat sysem, its another to just say its bad when its anything but.
It does increase the field of view the deeper you make the 3d effect....
And increasing the field of view does increase how much geometry is on screen.
And with how much more is seen over distance, an expanded fov on a game as large as xenoblade would be a pretty huge difference in how much is being rendered on screen. Just expanding the fov a little bit in dolphin exposes the culling system.
Apparently it adds very little depth, I wish I could see it for myself but I can't seem to find any 3D content online for that game.

I hope NoA doesn't try to use this to determine a US release of Chronicles X, they've really been screwing up lately, despite the backlash.
My review for Attack of the Fanboy is also up.
4.5/5 - "Offering up some of the most unique gameplay to the genre over the last decade, Xenoblade Chronicles 3D shows exactly why the game was so beloved on the Wii and this time it is actually affordable."
I don't really understand your reasoning on that last part?
isn't it only $10 less than the Wii version was at release?
I'm thinking he's saying if you want to play it now the 3DS version is more affordable.I don't really understand your reasoning on that last part?

I start going cross-eyed when I have it the 3D Effect on the full amount anyways.

Better to get this on the Wii or 3ds?

Looking forward to that one. I can live with the downgrade, the big plus for me is that I can play it while commuting and don't have to play it stationary. I tried with the WiiU gamepad but that having on your lap while holding another controller just sucked hard.
You had it on your lap? you do know theres a stand
You won't be disappointedI'm very torn on JRPGs, it's very much a love/hate thing for me. But it sounds like the convenient options are similar to Bravely Default as to offer you as much ease of use as possible - I don't think I can ever go back to random encounters, so that sounds great already. The many warp and time skip options and the forgiving deaths sound good as well.
Sounds like a fantastic game to just relax with and experiment, which is what I love mist about the genre: Just being able to hang out inside a massive world, and it seems like this game does this better than any other handheld title.
Definitely buying this!

At least 2 of the reviews mention the framerate can get a little suspect during battles with large enemies or when a lot of effects are going off (which was expected). I haven't yet read anything that says you can shore up the framerate by turning off 3D, since it seems like all the reviewers are playing with 3D on.
