Xenoblade Chronicles X english build gameplay

.

I wonder what most of them consider a good dub?

A good english dub is impossible because the phonetics of the language are simply ugly, at least to my non native ears.
This game either needs dual audio or the option to mute voices, else I'm not buying (or more PAL dubs).

Lol wut?

In all honesty I enjoyed Xenoblades dub and the one for Xenoblade X sounds pretty solid so far so I'm looking forward to it.

Literally incorrect.

If it's one thing I've learned about English dubs of Japanese things, someone will always complain, regardless of the quality.

I honestly can't have a preference for dubs or not when I see stuff like this on one side and Japanese P4's Kuma on the other.

Really hoping there'll be dual audio.
Not a fan of what I've heard at E3, and DLC/packs would work easily on WiiU (unlike Wii).

Literally incorrect.

Well if you wanna be super anal about it, if english would go back to old english the language would become significantly more palatable to listen to.
Though I don't quite see the point in arguing personal taste. I will never spent a single buck to pay for entertainment that forces me to listen to english.

I hope there's no option for japanese audio and it's only the english dub.

It's a good thing this place isn't in English.

Looks interesting, would have liked to hear the English voice acting though, more than Lin and Elma in that one scene about "that structure" which "looks like trouble". As long as the acting is good enough, I wouldn't care about the Japanese voice cast.

Will very likely be DLC, since the original Japanese game was very close to the limit of the Wii U optical discs, both tracks may not fit on the entire disc. Even if there's no Dual Audio, they'll likely just mute the voices, or not play the game at all since apparently English makes their ears bleed and whatnot.

You do realize that the American accent is actually closer to old English than the current British accent?

After the colonies broke away Brian changed more in accent than America.

A weaboo would tell you "it has to be japanese, japanese is the best".
I will tell you if I had the choice give me finnish, awesome language.

Well writing/reading english doesn't matter to me, only listening to it isn't pleaseant.
One has to accept that it is the lowest common denominator for information, especially on the internet.

The reactions are amusing though. Like it's an absolute unthinkable thing to have language preferences. Not every person on earth is a native english speaker, shocking I know.

I think it's really weird to not consume any piece of english-spoken media, because of the phonetics of the language. You are definitely the first case I ever heard about.

I'm not an english native either, but I don't understand why that's even relevant.

These guys made XCX look boring, wow >.>

They should have really rehearsed a bit more what to show on a gameplay demo that is 40mins long...

Either way, the translation seems to be coming out well. Hopefully a proper english trailer will be out soon.

Only ever really see this game in passing, but every time I notice it, I always think it looks really fun. As someone who's had no exposure to previous entries, and also as someone who hasn't read up much about this game, could someone quickly explain if it's like Persona and Final Fantasy where each entry is stand alone, or is this a direct sequel?

the gameplay shown kept me engaged, and I was happy to see that there wasn't any loading outside of the fast travel. Now I just have to wait for the game's release

They're standalone entries.

You, i like you.

And i preemptively apologize for making you read this in your head with an english voice.

It's relevant because I don't think there exists a single native speaker that doesn't like his own language. So someone like that probably doesn't have the perspective.
And regarding the first, why is that weird? I have thousands of alternatives how to spent my time, why settle for something that's not 100% satisfactory?
Though that'll be my last post on the matter, before more people loose their shit that someone dares to have preferences/values that don't line up with their own. Talk about the game instead, the scenery looks super awesome (as always).

"A good english dub is impossible because I don't like the english language" lolololo

I'm from Spain and I absolutely LOVE Xenoblade's dub with its british accent. I like what I have heard of XCX.

well that's sad that you're missing out on tons of fantastic games, music and film then. unless you just pirate them to go along with your anti-english stance

My most anticipated Wii U game since I bought the system.

Hell, this game is pretty much the reason I got a Wii U in the first place. Excited!

I played the JP version of Xenoblade over the last few months, and I ended up really missing a lot of the English cast. Dunban's JP voice in particular really put me off.

As someone who played through every Star Ocean game in english(Protip: dont), I'm still amazed. at this.

I really can't stand how monsters barely react to getting shot with dozens of bullets in succession. Why didn't they put more animation detail into that?

Dunban's jp voice is vegeta

I think it's because he sounds younger and less...something (refined) in the JP version than the western version. If I remember correctly.

It probably just depends on which one people hear first.

enemies are getting hit constantly in these games though. By 3 people. If their animations got interrupted, when would they attack?
It's not a turn based RPG, or a slower moving action rpg. It's almost like an MMO in that regard. Enemies in those usually don't react to anything.

It doesn't make any sense to have enemies flinch to every attack, considering they'd spend the entire battle flinching instead of attacking back...

Xenoblade (at least the original) doesn't really use standard hit detection in combat. Instead each move has a numerical range of the area it covers and when a move is activated, it checks to see if there are any enemies within that numerical range from the character's position and if so, they take damage from the attack. In the original the calculation happens when you select an Art so even if an enemy moves out of range by the time the Art's animation starts, the enemy still gets hit.

Wow this Thread has took an interesting turn!

But sorry, it's my fault for asking. I'm in love with the british voice acting from the first Game (non-native here), so I just wanted to know if the british acting was completely gone or not. :$
