Xenoblade Chronicles X: Survival Guides

Dolls is perfectly fine tbh. Mobile doll is something said a lot in some Gundam series. Though mobile dolls are usually unmanned mobile suits using advanced AI and why they're called dolls.

Probably a bad idea to bring this back up, but isn't Doll synonymous with Golems (or mud dolls), which come from old Kabbalah and Jewish mythos? Similar to the Zohar and Logos? I can see why this is being taken the way it is and in all honesty it give me a lot of concerns about how intact the themes of the game will stay.

I'm really surprised that Nintendo missed the release of the next video. I thought for sure it was going to release on the last day of the month when it didn't release earlier... If it doesn't release on this upcoming Monday, like the last video did, then I'm not sure what's up and when it will release (I would have expected it to release this past Monday).

I like that Tyrants actually get graded based on how many players they kill. That's a cool mechanic.
Also nice to see and hear English localization.

It was interesting how they mentioned colour of the crowns (copper, silver, and gold) for the tyrants depend on the number of players they have killed. By players, do they mean online players?

Seriously. Everything is so beautiful in this game. I'll spend a decade just exploring it.

Amen to that. The world and creature designs are just sublime.

The only think I don't like so far is how every monster seems like a bullet sponge, tanking damage for a long time. Hopefully this won't be a problem, if I want to play a MMO I'll choose to do so.

I really don't think Xenoblade is the series for you, then. The first game was much the same way.

The quest system (much like Xenoblade on the Wii) is very "MMO like" just set within the world and it does have 4 player online quests that are not story based. So far this game reminds me of Star Wars The Old Republic in the way the player gets quests (just in my observations), but the world itself is the big star it seems in X and shits all over the Old Republic's bland and repetitive settings and doesn't seem to have any "ugly" area in it except for maybe the borderline bland New Los Angeles.

The series is probably not for you. Late game bosses can take 5-10 minutes to fight, some monster took a while as well.

After the Japanese release for the game (and waiting for so long in general) I have lost some of my hype for the product.

Now, within the last week or so, my hype has suddenly returned. Maybe it's because the online marketing (such as it is) has begun or because the product finally seems close. Still, I am happy to be hyped again.

Now where are my Skell amiibos?

Shame they completely cheaped out on it. Japanese version has 10 VAs for each gender to a total of 20, while NA has 5 male and 2 female VAs...

that's the first I've heard of the reduction. But tbh I was not expecting them to offer 20 like the Japanese version.

Have you heard five dubbed ones? Are they diverse enough? even more important: Is one British?

Wait, this is the first time I've heard this. Where did you get this from?

A guy from Treehouse said it during a PAX (IIRC) panel few weeks ago.
Also I was mistaken, it's 3 female VAs. For male protag: Troy Baker, Johnny Yong Bosch, Yuri Lowenthall, Adam Howden, Liam O' Brien. For female protag: Laura Bailey, Michelle Ruff, Jennifer Hale.

Interesting. Thanks. I missed that panel.

I really hope you're not making this up. Adam Howden VA would hype me to the max. Either way, I've tweeted him, so hopefully we find out soon.

but the mc never speaks so what is the point?

all of those voices are wasted for grunts and yells during battle

in the cutscenes the protag is silent, why bother?

Why are you asking me? Ask Nintendo, or Treehouse, or 8-4 (I think they're also working on this too).

you posted they cheaped out on voices, I pointed out the 10 voices for female, and 10 voices for males are battle screams.

why are you deflecting? You said Nintendo is being cheap for not having 20 different voices for battle screams so own what you posted

edit: http://iwataasks.nintendo.com/interviews/#/wiiu/xenoblade-chronicles-x/0/3

Takahashi – But because there were so many lines, some voice actors lost their voices during the recording.

Yokota – They’re in-battle voices, so they have to be very loud.

Iwata – Naturally, because there’s a lot of shouting during battles.

Yokota – Exactly. Kojima Yes, and we had to ask them to keep shouting for hours.

Takeda – Voice actors are voice specialists, so it takes a lot for them to lose their voices. I’ve worked on jobs requiring a lot of screaming by actors in the past, but I’ve never seen or heard a professional voice actor lose their voice during a recording.

I'll say again, if you're lying about Adam Howden as a VA choice then that's just... really lame. I don't see what you'd hope to get out of that.

Where did I denied any of my posts? C'mon, show me.

So yes, they have cheapened out on voices that doesn't have thousands of lines per VA throughout the whole game. Especially considering the game gonna sell much more in NA and EU comparred to Japan, just like XC did.

I'll say again, if you're lying about Adam Howden as a VA choice then that's just... really lame. I don't see what you'd hope to get out of that.

And why would I do that? You can hear it by yourself, since I think the panel was uploaded to Nintendo's channel. But I'm not gonna watch it again just because you think I'm a liar.

hopefully someone like that would be one of the main speaking NPCs

I doubt he would be one of the battle screamers

I remember the reason for having 10 female voices for the Avatar was because each had a personality type we made fun of the Tsundere one

I'm guessing they removed Tsundere battle speak for this translation

I am not saying they did not cut back but I would call it smart use of resources and money not cheating out

they had 10 females for just battle talk I linked the Iwata Ask to show where they said they had so many lines that the actors lost their voices working on this game

also if they are not going to feature Tsundere like they did in Japan which is a specialized trait that only Japanese and Anime/Manga fans will get then this version does not need 20 people 5 is more than enough

It does not matter if Japan sold less if you ask Monolith Soft they would tell you they created this game for the Japanese market it is a JRPG you know so they are going to spend money on getting the Japanese version perfect, while NOA would cheapen out on and cut what they feel they don't need

Dolls would still be Dolls if NOA cared about keeping all the cool little things like Tsundere voice choice

Shulk's JP voice actor is one of the VA choices in the JP version, so it makes sense to have his English VA as an option in the English version, too, I think.

The PAX panel uploaded by Nintendo doesn't show the Q&A at the end. I'll just have to take your word for it, I guess.

They went that far for battle voices?
I really wonder how much of the battle voices will be kept

I would rather they keep all the lines, I am watching the PAX video again
