XIII sequel confirmed OH.MY.GOD

Loved this first game, but correct me if Im wrong, but didnt the first one end on a cliffhanger?

Yeah. It ended with
Fly (XIII) getting trapped by some goons lead by Walter Sheridan, revealed to be I
. (Spoilered in case anyone hasn't played the original but wants to.)

It would be a dream come true if they brought in the composer and sound team behind the first game. I don't think any game soundtrack has usurped the original XIII in any area.

I think that might be a detriment to this game without Ubisoft behind it.

There's nothing wrong with the game being iOS. Times have changed.

I think some people can clearly be bothered by a new installment in a first person shooter franchise being made for a system with no buttons or aiming/movement devices.

This is another reason why I'm a bit worried. Loved the opening level's music especially. I've gotta replay this again, goddamn.

PC version?
I think it's what the whole thing implies. When I read the systems this game would be released on, I didn't think "first person shooter", I thought "point and click adventure". To be honest, that wouldn't be horrific at all (could be pretty damn neat), I'd just rather an FPS.

The fact that it's coming out in November is also a bit odd. Just seems all kinds of weird. But I've got faith. :D

the pc version was one (if not) the first ubisoft game with massively annoying DRMs, it was a huge deal at the time.. It's hilarious to see that nobody remembers that.

what else would a sequel be?

Was Batman: Arkham Asylum a sequel to Dark Tomorrow? You tell me. It had the same license, after all!

This is a low-budget (judging from the platforms and the announcement coming only a month before release) effort from a completely unrelated developer, and there's no indication whether it's even in the same genre as the 2003 Ubisoft title. Yeesh.

Yeah, that this is being announced only a month before release makes it pretty damn certain that this is very far from being a Serious Effort.

First time I saw Archer I immediately thought of this game. No one knew what I was talking about when I made the reference

Play the original and watch Archer

It's a "sequel" solely because it shares the same license? That's an interesting definition.

Blast, you beat me to the Batman analogy while I was typing, and you pulled a better game, I was going with Sunsoft Batman...

But right, it's not a sequel in any way, it's just based on the same franchise. Everybody's going bonkers without knowing what XIII is or what this announcement means (doesn't help that the quoted article is so misleading and as far as I can tell unsourced... where'd they read that title XIII: Lost Identity?) XIII is a pretty big and multifaceted product line, a game could be pulled from any bit of its continuity and have no relation to the 2003 game. And there's no evidence that anybody formerly from Ubisoft or the XIII team is working on there (or for that matter anybody from the XIII miniseries, or the new XIII TV show, or the comic book, or...) Nothing that even says it's a shooter (though nothing says it's not,) the studio usually makes adventure games since its biggest property is the Microids name.

BTW, found the original post (why was it not sourced but quoted?) IncGamers has had to update their article to confirm that it's NOT a sequel. But it doesn't say what kind of game it will be, whether it'll be similar or something new.

...All that fallen rain out of the way, the XIII name and style is pretty cool and I hope they do something interesting with this game. Anuman is the company bringing back Moto Racer so hopefully they have good talent around the office. I'm eager to see an uptick in French game development, they had fallen off the map there for a while (or homogenized beyond recognition as artistes, lots of good product is out there from French developers but you'd never distinguish it from any good American or UK or western European company's work) but it's a nation with very peculiar and intriguing tastes when it works with native concepts.

oh man, really cool an unexpected

too bad for them Borderlands took that style, get ready for comparissions based solely on how it looks

I've been waiting a sequel for years.
But I'll be sad if there no console version :(

XIII is like one of my favorite FPS of all times !

XIII was the first FPS to use cell shading ? Maybe even the only AAA FPS to use it untill Borderlands ?
