Ever heard of rechargeable AA batteries?Barkley's Justice said:i'm glad the batteries are rechargeable, but they should come out, i agree. if not for the consumer's benefit, then for mothers earth's.
tossing those controllers with the battery packs is some environmental terrorist shit, for real, propagated by the likes of sony less they change that shit. microsoft's just as bad: how many AA batteries have been thrown out from spent 360 controllers?
wtf is wrong with these companies. apple and their annual hardware revisions is the worst eco-terrorist, by the way. their batteries are locked in as well and their entire incentive as a company is on some, "upgrade to the new next shit!! that old shit is fukt!! get rid of it!"

You actually do this?Xellos said:PS3 is a great for games and movies, but charging the battery via USB is pretty annoying. Every time that "low battery" message comes up I have to stop the game, plug in that tiny USB cord (which does not reach to the couch) and leave the PS3 running for a couple of hours while it recharges. It's my only gripe with PS3's hardware.

Buy a longer charge cable (monoprice.com) and or buy a second controller.
I do.Shurs said:Rechargeable batteries eventually die and need to be thrown away. Side question: What percentage of 360 owners do you think use rechargeable batteries?

And, your point? That X360 controller doesn't use rechargeable AA batteries means less of them out there? That's a big stretch. As for your second question, I would assume most people do. Like asking how many people use regular vs rechargeable batteries on every device. As for me, I have wasted ZERO battery since X360 launch. Rechargeable AA since day 1.Shurs said:Rechargeable batteries eventually die and need to be thrown away. Side question: What percentage of 360 owners do you think use rechargeable batteries?

Sony PlayStation 3
It's all fun and games until the battery dies. Unlike its competitors, which use replaceable AA batteries, the PS3's remote control is glued shut. When the battery goes, Sony customers have to blow $55 on a new controller. Sony says there's an "environmental benefit" since gamers don't have to toss their batteries on a regular basis, but Isidor Buchmann, president of battery-equipment maker Cadex Electronics, says captive batteries are becoming common because it's cheaper for companies to eliminate the battery housing and hatch.
But that story is from years ago, and GAF says Sony doesn't actually do it. I guess I'm just stuck keeping it wired.Kagari said:

Then, tell your friends to use rechargeable. Save money in long run and environment.Shurs said:Hurray for you!
None of my 360 owning friends use rechargeable batteries. Of course this is anecdotal.
My point is that rechargeable batteries still need to be thrown out eventually. Just like PS3 controllers. Though, I guess a PS3 controller with a battery that no longer functions could still be used while connected via USB cable.

But yeah, that article is crazy. Almost 'you have to plug it on your TV' kind of crazy
