Yahoo: PS3 = lump of coal

Yeah I really don't like having to leave the PS3 on to charge the controller - i usually just plug it into the PC instead and it does the job. It should have an auto-off like the 360 does when it's charging the battery.

Jesus christ my 8 year old cousin could write a more informative and accurate piece than that. Seriously how the fuck did a woman that mentally incompetent get a job as a journalist anywhere? I don't care very much that she listed the PS3 as a poor gift, there are plenty of legitimate reasons should could have listed for disliking it, but what she chose to write about for the PS3 and nearly all of the devices is just an embarrassment to Yahoo, Americans, and humanity.

Rechargeable batteries come in packs of 4 / 8. Unless I live in another reality, X360 only uses 2. Thus, you should have 2 / 6 laying around at all times. And, don't you keep your batteries in one place after charging? Non rechargeable batteries need to die. Rechargeable are fine.

But let's assume that you only have two batteries like you're assuming that we only have one PS3 controller and that's we're stupid enough to wait until its battery is empty to recharge it.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF YOU ONLY HAVE TWO BATTERIES AND YOU CAN'T RECHARGE THEM WHILE PLAYING LIKE YOU DO WITH THE PS3, KNITOE? OMG WHAT A DESIGN FLAW!

Haha it's like the guy combed through the internet for a new thing to troll the PS3 about, and found Dragona's thread or a blog post linking to it. :lol

But in general, built-in batteries = fail. One of the things I have against Apple products for. It's a total consumer-unfriendly feature.

If someone had me at gunpoint and told me I'd have to either play Fahrenheit again or read this thread, I'd seriously consider playing Fahrenheit again

I don't have anything in the vicinity with an always on USB port, so I'd have to take the controller off to another room to charge. Just seems strange that they don't offer the same "auto off" controller charge functionality that the 360 has.

They do, they added an auto-turn off feature in one of the firmwares this year. The sixaxis or DS will auto-turn off after 10 mins of inactivity. Unless you mean something else.

I don't know about Apple products but you can replace a PS3 battery. It costs less than 5 dollars on ebay.

edit: eh beaten

I don't have that problem.

360: 2 controller & 4/8 charged batteries backup at all time.

PS3: 3 controllers (2 for co-op and 1 for backup).

Like I have said, prefer first option. One less controller and batteries could always be use for other stuff, ie kids toys.

You can do the same with some ipods (I replaced my ipod mini battery) but they're a pain to replace.

But in general built-in batteries are easily replaceable by anyone competent enough to make their own coffee in the morning.

Edit: okay that's not really true since some devices are designed to be nearly impossible to crack open... but the DS3 is not one of them.

My DS3 battery hasn't died yet and I imported mine from Japan right when they came out. It's still going strong unlike my weak Play & Charge kit batteries.

Most people aren't responsible enough to buy rechargeable batteries, the encased rechargeables in phones, ipods, cameras, controllers, portable game consoles, etc are one of the best things to happen to the environment in the past 10 years. It's stupid that Yahoo would say such a thing.

My last roommate had a 360, he was always going through batteries, I lent him a pair of my expensive rechargeables, He used them once, and threw them out. What the hell!

People are irresponsible, and Yahoo is irresponsible for promoting such behavior.
