You're all going to love Yakuza Zero. Fortunately, it should serve as a rather solid jumping on point for newcomers. That said, you really owe it to yourself to play through the series if you have the means.

You're right, that wouldn't be anti-consumer on the developers side, but on the publishers side (Sony or Microsoft these days) it would be anti-consumer.

I don't think it's worth dwelling on. People who don't own or plan on buying a PS4 will hope that it eventually gets a PC release, while others who do can rest well knowing they'll get to play the game on release. Being a PC gamer, it's easy to be patient when your Steam backlog is 100+ games deep. : p

As for Sega Europe PR, they use the same kind of line we're used to: Exclusive to in early 2017.
They could change the label and the head of Sega could say "we are never, ever putting it on PC" and someone would still say "they're just lying to push double dip sales, there's still a chance!"
Not seeing how it's anti consumer from the publishers. Here's a game that wouldn't exist otherwise? Bayo 2 wasn't anti consumer. It's not a MS with Tomb Raider situation, it's a platform holder or nothing kind of deal.

Don't know about him but importing is extremely unrealistic for me. Amazon doesn't ship to my country along with a lot of stores.
There is a reliable store that does but I sure as hell am not getting the game on my doorstep on the day of release and this is assuming the customs office don't start dicking around with my shipment and cause unnecessary delays. Getting the digital version is infinitely easier.

It's anti-consumer because there is no benefit to the consumer, it only forces you to purchase their console to play the game.

OK. So instead of "anti-consumer" being a meaningful phrase with negative connotations, we're just going to toss it around freely such that it becomes mostly meaningless. Conversely, I guess your point is that first parties should operate as charities and not seek a mutually beneficial arrangement for funding a game's development.

The benefit to the consumer is that they get the opportunity to buy the game? In this hypothetical the money is required for the game to exist.
If a first party has to fork out, that's not anti consumer. It's their game they're paying for. Of course there should be no expectation that Sony pay for a game to be localized on XB1.

Anyone here also find it pathetic how Japanese 3rd Parties like Sega, SE, and Capcom are in a position where they're relying on 1st Party handouts for basically everything now? Like seriously these companies are striking me as bad investments right now with how they're all so brazenly demonstrating a lack of financial independence. Capcom significantly more than the others since literally everything they do now that isn't a Remaster or Resident Evil is tied to 1st Party money.

Oh I see. I didn't know it was all that complicated. Maybe less so if you're stateside and are importing from elsewhere, I did that with the Valkyria Chronicles europa edition because I didn't want the steelbook, that's the only way to get it in the U.S.

Still won't be able to get it passed the customs. They are very very strict about overseas packages.
I admire Steve's patience. PR isn't giving us fluff here, they're making a direct statement. The direct statement is in itself very depressing to hear, because the fact that American PR is 100% sure-fire certain that there is absolutely zero chance of PC versions happening speaks to a level of confidence that states that the climate for such a port or dev to happen doesn't exist at all, which is much worse than being given an ambiguous answer.
I am used to this for niche games. Happens most often when the topic of sexuality comes up. Valkyria threads get 3 pages now, but they get 30 pages when sexuality wagon-circling starts. Same for Ys. *_*
Capcom's been relying on 1st party handouts for a long time. Even in their early history they always approached the console guys for deals. They pissed off a lot of people for many years. Funnily enough despite throwing themselves into console politics over and over again their overall historical platform support is actually really really good. I can't speak for SE but Sega's console output and platform support compared to Capcom is kind of sad after Sega did the shotgun approach with their 3rd party games after the Dreamcast imploded.
EDIT: I will say Capcom has really been stalling this generation, relying heavily on remasters and such. But at least these remasters are hitting all platforms.

They said the same phrase for Nioh when they announced it. That's a PS4 exclusive as well.
That remains to be seen.
There's much more to PC than just graphics! And one thing you are overlooking are people with weaker computers who are satisfied in dialing the game down from default graphical output so they can play the game on their setup. They key word is flexibility!
