Yakuza 4 in Europe in Spring 2011

Super cool. Yakuza 1 was an awesome game, I own 2 and 3 and need to play them. I will remedy this starting tonight!

I wanna be extincted but Sega crushed my heart when Yakuza 3 was released with cut content. I was going to buy it day one, but never ended up buying it at all.
Sucks for you, the game was still amazing with the stuff being cut.

So true. Luckily that sale didn't determine the outcome of Y4 releasing here. If you love the series, you should support at least the attempt they made to bring us the game.

I don't have much to add to all this aside from - WOOOO HOOOO!

Even with the cuts as unfortunate as they were, Yakuza 3 was still an awesome game. My favorite in the series so far.

Don't get extinct over it, it's not worth it.
There is still plenty of opportunity to correct the error of your ways, don't worry.

Since I don't want to buy a PS2, they need to make the first two games on the PS3 in HD so I can play all of them. Something about starting out with the 3rd one will feel like I'm missing something, even though each game gives a story recap.
I agree with the first part of your post, the second part though, Yakuza 3 has been one of the best experiences I've had on my PS3 if not the best and nowhere during the game did I feel like I was missing out, eventhough I probably was, it's an amazing game with a great story all on it's own. Having finished it, I still very much want to play the first two games, I'd even buy non-HD remakes for PSN or something like that. Actually, earlier today I was thinking of buying them on PS2 to keep my lonely Disgaea 2 company in the unplayable corner of my collection, seems like a good celebration of this excellent news, I might go and do that and then at some point get around to borrowing my mate's PS2.

It does, but I also think it's the worst game in the series so far.
Kinda hard to disagree not having played the first two. I still love my Yakuza 3 though, no-one will take that from me. :lol

I loved it as well, but compared to the first two the plot was a bit of letdown. It mostly plodded along as an excuse to justify having Kazuma getting dragged back into the Yakuza stuff again, up until it kicked it up a notch at the end
RIIKIIIYAAAA!!!!!
.

I'm actually knee deep in my play through of Yakuza 3 right now at about 18 hours in. I'm doing just about all the side stories as I find them so it's going to take me awhile to finish but I'm having a great time with the game.

Yakuza 4 coming is great news!

Just finished Yakuza 3 and loved it!!!

But SPRING 2011!? When the game's already out in japan for some time?

yea, i wish it came out this year. maybe the long wait means they'll localize EVERYTHING.

Believe.

I don't pay full price for an incomplete game (like many people). Will pick it up sooner or later though.

I did the same, but one month later the game was already available new for under 20€ which includes the soundtrack (and the DLC).

So how much better is Y4 over Y3?

A lot of things in Y4 are rehashed from 3. Most of the minigames are the same or only slightly updated and Kamurocho is mostly the same except with a few extra locales.

However the main story in Y4 shits all over Y3, it's just so much better. The action never lets up and you won't have lengthy boring sections like in Y3. Every main character is incredibly fun to play as and I like them all, character-wise and gameplay-wise. The levelling up system is much better I feel, instead of following 4 linear levelling trees they give you more choice over what moves you want to learn first.

The only problem with it is that Kiryu felt kinda shoehorned in since apparently he needs to make an appearance in every Yakuza.

Overall Y4>>>Y3. Even the install screen is a lot better :lol .

Oh snap. For some reason i'm having a hard time believing this news.

But OH SHIT YAKUZA 4 COMING IN ENGLISH YES YES YES. Now i just need to buy yakuza 3.

Also sega still need to bring kenzen over.;_;

This is sad news cause it means the extremely butchered Y3 sold to expectations or better -_-

I'll hold out the tinyest bit of hope they'll localize Y4 properly so that I may buy it to keep and to play instead buying and returning for refund like Y3.

I think it actually shows that all the bad publicity over the cuts ended up being excellent free press. Considering the marketing budget for the NA release was probably pretty low, making those controversial cuts (and getting a bunch of negative press) did more to boost sales than anything else.

It's giving me an English Yakuza 4. I don't see how that's sad.

At worst it's bittersweet.

Well hopefully the story doesn't use shitty narrative devices such as
forgetting to kick the gun away from the evil dude you just beat up

I really don't know anything about the Yakuza games. I've been interested for a long time. Is all you do is like beat up your enemies? :/

it's a JRPG wrapped around a story about the Yakuza. the brawler parts is just the battle sections.

Spring 2011 is a long wait but I'm just happy it's being released here at all :D Hopefully there won't be as many cuts this time around.

SEGA Japan needs to send SEGA America an authentic katana saying NO CUTS OR WE CHOP OFF YOUR FINGER. And if it was SEGA Japan's idea all along then they need to repent by cutting it off themselves.

Day freaking one. I loved Yakuza and even though I haven't finished it yet (bought it at a bad time) I will very soon.

Based on fan feedback, we’ve made a lot of changes this time around – and for the better. Hostess clubs, which I mentioned above, are returning, and in the future we’ll be able to talk in even more detail about the ways we’re making Yakuza 4 a much more authentic step into Japan.

Like Yakuza 3 and 2, this game will feature the original Japanese voice actors, and will offer subtitles so those of us who aren’t fluid Japanese speakers still understand what’s going on.

Personally, I think this is a major positive. The Yakuza series has always had an all-star cast of actors in Japan, and the polish and attention to detail they put in is something you can hear even without knowing the language.
