Yakuza Ishin is 60fps on PS4

I would love this to get here, same as Yakuza 5 but after how they censored and removed stuff in the 4th, i just decided it´s not worth my money or time until SEGA gets their shit together and i dont see that happening anytime, on top of it it´s not really just about this series, i loved SEGA up until they killed of my beloved Dreamcast after that it has mostly been one dissapointment after another with them. :/

Yes i´m bitter and butthurt heh

Edit @ below yes sorry the 3rd one was the one i thought of not 4th my bad, tbh i just can´t fathom how they have fallen. :/

???

They removed the Japanese History Quiz. No big loss.

Unless you're thinking of Yakuza 3 where they removed the hostess bars etc.?

Both versions look equally bad, just in different ways.

hunh? you only play games where you're guaranteed future sequels? it's not like any of the yakuza games end with cliffhangers. while playing them in order adds a bit of depth, they're all very enjoyable independent of each other...

Yeah, pretty much. But if they really are independent of each other, I might pick them up...

I wouldn't really say they're independent, they're all sequels to each other with the exceptions of Kenzan, Dead Souls and Ishin. There are recurring characters and continuing storylines, but I'd definitely recommend playing them anyway if you're interested since they're great games.

If it was 1080p 60fps they would have no reason not to say, so res is higher than ps3 but less than 1080 most likely.

From the article in the op:

PS3 vs PS4

Thanks for the hint on who is who ;)

Japanese are weird with their graphic comparisons. I remember when Capcom showed RE4 HD and old versions, they ran the old version through some mud filter (game never looked that bad really). It seems to me that they blurred the PS3 version image here.

Dat PS3 cinematic feel compared to over sharpened PS4 version.

Not sold yet on the game, I admit I'm more partial to modern day Japan for this serie.

cinematic feel? yeah if you're watching a movie on a vhs tape. the right would be like a dvd or blu ray.

Interesting bit from the Japanese blog source:

Quick translation:

Also, using the PS4 sharing feature, you can stream your game (although the available mode(s) will be limited), and comments from viewers will appear on the game screen. If you get enough comments from viewers on your stream, there will be certain benefits, such as being able to recover from getting knocked down more quickly, or your having your gauge fill up more quickly. It has also become clear that the map will support controls via the touch pad, the Dual Shock 4 bar will light up when you take damage, the game will support automatic installation, and will also be compatible with Vita remote play.

It seems the comments actually will appear on the player's game screen.

big who cares of now; when i'm done with 5 & KHH subs has a playthrough on YT i'm sure i'll be delighted

Heh, I haven't played a Yakuza game in a bunch of years, but this news might make me jump in again.

play 4, it was 2011's not-so-secret GOTY & won't let you down

Am I the only one that thinks it looks like a 2006 PS3 game then uprezzed for PS4?

Edit: Based on that screen comparison that's been quoted a few times. I assume it doesn't do the game justice.

ehhh from that shot i'd just say you're guessing Kenzan! because that shit was magical & looked way ahead of its time, honestly

Verendus pls

seems to know about as much as you & i do on the topic, no idea why this is still a thing after famousmortimer openly debunked it

This is the only franchise SEGA has anything to do with that I care about. I'd almost go as far as saying it's the only good franchise they have left.

I'm not holding my breath for 5 or Isshin, but who knows.

It is actually confirmed to be 1080p

The PlayStation 4 version is rendered in full HD 1080p. The textures and feel, such as a character’s facial expressions or clothes, have been significantly enhanced.

At 60 frames per second, the PlayStation 4 version is rendered at twice the frames of the PlayStation 3 version (which we can thus presume is 30 frames).

Unlike PlayStation 3, the PlayStation 4 version of Yakuza: Ishin does not require pre-play installation on PlayStation 4. Due to the system’s infrastructure, the game will install while you play, and there’s almost no wait time before you can start.

Load times are also considerably reduced in the PlayStation 4 version. And thanks to Remote Play, you can play the game on the go with your PS Vita.

I have no technical knowledge to speak of, but i would have thought that due to the higher resolution the PS4 version would have less aliasing.

Common mistake.

Antialiasing is a graphical technique, resolution is just resolution. A higher resolution will reduce the size of the aliasing effect seen, but it will still be there.

Reducing the size of aliasing is reducing aliasing. Given infinite resolution it would be completely eliminated without AA.

Maybe some kind soul can do all the translating for them for Y5 for free.

Then get some freelance programmer to key in all the subtitles - i don't even need any of the buttons or menus or in game stuff translated, just the subtitles for the cutscenes and any of the mission objectives.

Then Sega can put it up on PSN. I'll pay $100 AU for a copy.

And it wouldn't really cost them anything..... maybe 150 hours of a programmer's time. At $100 an hour thats what $15,000... they only have to sell 300 copies at $50 to break even...

How much budget does it cost to subtitle something and just release it digitally?

Or they could do a limited physical release that we just have to pay up front for...like Ni No Kuni. I wish Japanese companies knew that we want more of their hardcore Japanese games.

I know Nintendo is Japanese but they try to make their games for a worldwide audience. I like the niche stuff from Capcom, Platinum Games, Grasshopper, SEGA, Sony etc. :)

Still quite a bit. They'd have to hire a localization team, and the Yakuza games have lots of story and other bits to do accurately.

Then there's a decently sized fee to put it on the network for people to download. Sony, nay, pretty much every company does that.

Don't forget about advertising, because let's face it, this isn't some big name title that US people clamor for. Even a few online pieces, which wouldn't be enough anyway, cost money.

The biggest problem is that the US market simply doesn't support games like Yakuza. That series makes bank in Japan, but does horribly over here. Sega was keen on releasing Japanese numbers but not US numbers.

All this being said, it's a possibility that Sega is going to amass money to make it a worthwhile endeavor while not losing a dangerous amount of funds. Companies do that all the time. Thing is, there's a window of opportunity, and once that's gone, you won't see the game elsewhere.

I'd donate so much, but there's no way the gaming collective would be okay with companies using that. Not that I don't understand why, but damn :(

Gamers whine about anything. They aren't going to release it in the west, why not just take a chance with something like kickstarter to see if that method works of drumming up interest? People have no problem with preordering games, and using this method people can buy a game with no risk in case it falls through and doesn't get enough funding. A bigger company like SEGA has more accountability too, for actually delivering their promises than some random start up indie that people toss tons of money at who then constantly delays a game or under delivers.

Anna Konno was a bit distracting in her close-fitting white dress, but, undeniably, the PS4 version looks better, sharper. The framerate will also make quite a difference, even if Ishin isn't the most frenetic and demanding action game out there.
