Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Glad I bought it (on sale!) on 360.

I've been having connection problems w/my PS3, too. Glad to hear it's not my unit.

Meh. No big deal to me. I've got Blur's singleplayer to get through as well as Just Cause 2 and GT5 grinding to do. PSN being down just makes me focus on single-player focused games more. *shrug*

Also LOL @ XBL vs PSN in this thread. Happens every time and the XBL cheerleaders seem to forget the two times in 2007 (and 2008 IIRC) where the service was having similar issues to PSN (due to a bunch of connections at the same time) for a week straight.

i'm actually happy that we live in a world where a group of anonymous dudes can (potentially) shut down a large aspect of a major corporations business. it's romantic! picaresque, even. who wants to live in a world without hackers, bandits, pirates, ninjas? they're awesome!

You can play singleplayer but for SOCOM fans, SOCOM=Multiplayer.
 
Just catching up on this. Has there actually been any info that this is hackers? Figured that ended when the case was over..

Edit: I guess there has.

or when they board my yacht and start chopping heads of. i can deal with a little PSN shutdown though. cuz when i walk out my front door today, i'll be able to say, they're out there, fighting the good fight! neuromancer! etc.

Yeah, their "low-orbit ion cannon" (i.e. DoS attack) employs the "monkeys in a room with typewriters" technique. Get enough morons together and they can accomplish anything.
 
Oh, yeah, you can play Socom 4 SP, but I don't feel like playing SP, I feel like playing MP and that's impossible. :/

In other news, is PSN still down? It was down last night when I went to bed but I figured all would be well by now.

Edit: it's for the best, though, probably, so I'm not tempted to log in and do Portal 2 co-op or raid in DC Universe tonight. There's work to be done.

I see. Maybe they dont know what caused this problem and doesnt rule out that it can be an outside attack. But if it is a DDoS attack, it seems to be a bit different compared to the previous one at least, since now us.playstation.com works fine and that website didnt work during the previous DDoS attack. I also get disconnected almost at once when i try to connect to PSN now (not sure how it was during the DDoS attack a few weeks ago though?).

I was planning on trading in Crysis 2 toward either Socom 4 or MK9 today. So basically Friday and Saturday of the S4/MK9 release weekend gone.

You don't need to be signed in psn to get netflix to work.
