Yo-Kai Watch 2 |OT| X fast-forwards battles

Is this sequel an OK place to jump into the series? I am interested in it but I don't think I have the time for the first one AND the sequel. Am I losing too much if I skip the first?
You are not losing anything by skipping the first one. 2 is more or less a soft reset right from the get go, so you can jump right in.

Rather disappointed that Robonyan F and Sailornyan are digital bonuses.

Guess I'll keep my eye out when they're available to trade.

What is this additional content from a one save that can be unlocked though?
You do need a save file from 1 to do this and to be able to use the Yo-Kai Cam. There's a man near the Shrine in the corner of the field named Mister E. He wants photos from the Yo-Kai Cam from 1 that's taken in a span of 2 hours. If they're older than 2 hours, he won't take them. Once he's taken a photo he'll give you a special Crank-A-Kai coin. Use it to choose one of three Yokai then do the process for two more days with Mister E to get the other two Yokai.

Rumor has it that Japanese medals are working in the localized release. Can anybody confirm? If so, we'd already have built up databases for scanning and wouldn't have to wait for all the medals to be released here and collected.

Yeah, I hope Sailornyan is available otherwise. I really like the design and Id hate to have to try and get it from someone who pre-ordered digitally. :/

Check the bottom of this page :)
Edit: It's what Meffer said!

Nice OT! My copy of Fleshy Souls should be delivered today!

How do I get the digital bonuses?

Some people are reporting that they received an email from Nintendo and they are asking that people respond to the email. So check there if you didn't get the codes in your receipt.

Probably gonna pick this up. Even with all it's flaws I found Yokai Watch 1 a way more charming and fun game to play than most recent Pokemons. The humor was top notch and the localization was on point. The gameplay was perfectly serviceable even though I'm not a fan of random recruitment. Always hated that time-wastingness.

Played and beat the original JP version, so doubledipping now.

HOW THE HELL DID I NOT KNOW I COULD BRING ANY YO-KAI AS A COMPANION!?

I had Jibanyan follow me the whole game, so now to drop another 30+ hours until Blizzaria/Fubukihime.

The image when you try to switch from Whisper is amazing haha

My copy arrived today woohoo. Is the Yokai watch 1 pic method the only way to get those Yokai? Because I can't find my Yokai watch 1 copy :((((

I'm super annoyed, UPS dropped the ball on my shipping so it won't be here till monday =(.

Can't wait to try this though. Really enjoyed the first one even though I figured I would hate it, so this one should be fantastic.

For the preorder bonus Yokai for the digital version. The code actually gives you an item which then brings out the Yokai somewhere in the world. You can fight them once a day, so you can just save scum until you get them. I believe you can befriend them more than once so trade away my friends!

Went and tested the QR Codes from my Japanese guide that are for the Excitement Coins.

...Yep, they worked. Oh shi-

EDIT: However, "normal" QR codes don't seem to work. Huh.

User RainThunder0 on Reddit, the guy who originally ripped all the English Yo-Kai names from the YW2 demo, was kind enough to do the same for all Inspirit, Skill, and Soultimate names. As such, the database has now been updated and now has all English names. This also had the unintended side effect of fixing some of the Favorite Foods that I had apparently gotten wrong the first time.

Not a really big deal, but kind of neat!

I posted this the OT for the first game yesterday but I feel this is really important to let people know if they get the idea to get more pulls from the Crank-A-Kai by changing the date:
I just want to give the heads up about one thing for YW2. In YW1, you can actually get more than 3 pulls a day in the Crank-A-Kai by advancing the 3DS clock for a full day each time you do 3 pulls (and after putting the date back to the respective current date after skipping days doesn't punish you, you'll still get new pulls as normal). The game doesn't punish in anyway apart from threatening you with an Oni (he doesn't affect anything).
In YW2, they caught on and now if you do change the date they'll punish you by not letting you use the Crank-A-Kai for a number of days! So don't try it! You can still however save before then doing your pulls, compare then reset and then do pulls again to see what you want for the day.

Wonder if there's anyone compiling QR codes and passwords like for Yokai Watch. Also I thought bony spirits would have the good move for JIBANYAN, but it gave me the self destruct one. Fleshy Souls won :(

Of course there's a community for that! Don't worry.

This slow OT disappoints me. This game is going to be great! I've been watching some of the show this week and it is actually pretty entertaining. It's kind of nice playing a monsters game where the monsters have so much personality.

APPARENTLY I ordered Bony Spirits in an attempt to avoid having to see the name Toadal Dude and now I'm sad cause I was into the other Fleshy Souls exclusives more.

Looking for a Wydeawake ASAP ✌

Is there a way to tell what a Yokai's favorite food is without looking at a guide? Having to guess was one of the worst parts of the first game.

I should have my Fleshy Souls copy later. I went to get it earlier and they didn't have it so I waited about 1.5 hours and they didn't have it in yet so I left and apparently they got it in on the bus ride home so FML.

So eh I'll just continue my Bony Spirits playthrough in meantime.

@Bladenic: Check the subreddit in the OT, that's the main place to go for that type of thing.

Recruit rate is MUCH better in this btw. There were people on forums claiming they were unable to receuit any Yo-Kai beyond the hand outs in the first game. Its bad when you can't even get one in a playthrough not going out of your way for them.

I dunno, took me a while to get Lie-in just now and still haven't gotten the legs Yokai. I think they should've made it so recruitment rate was determined by rank. Like Rank E Yokai should be extremely easy to recruit, while rank A/S can be much lower. At least then you know what to expect.

That's generally how it is actually.

I got Lie-In really easily myself, both this playthrough and in previous playthroughs. I think you just had bad luck, which happens.

If anybody got a spare Gleam or simply doesn't want theirs when they used those three glitzy coins, I got one extra Shadow Venoct from using them if you want to trade.

Damn, I'm really glad I didn't try and do everything in YW1 cause I'd be so burnt out on the sequel right now.
It still doesn't really feel like a sequel, just new quests in the same place, so I'm ready for it to change things up soon.

I've gotten most of them without trying, in the previous game it sometimes took me 3-4 hours to get just one. It was absolutely terrible.

You can't get Gleam off of the Glitzy Coins. You can only get it off of this coin, the Cheerful Coin:

EDIT: Aaaaand got one off of mine.
