Yo-Kai Watch |OT| So this is like SMT, right?

I guess it is just a pre-order and it comes out in January. I totally missed that.

Edit: I see that you went ahead and got one. Sorry for giving you misinformation!
That's okay, I was going to get one anyway! And it looks like I might be getting it earlier by preordering it on Hasbro's site, too! Plus I got the promo codes for 20% and 10% off thanks to your post! I just wish we didn't have to wait a couple months, lol.

Ok, my guide came in and someone wanted a list of Yokai that evolve, so....

Pandle, Cutta-nah, D'wanna, Noway, Roughraff, Cadin, Komasan, Walkappa, Komajiro, Hungramps, Dimmy, Slush, Droplette, Fishpicable

BTW, the guide is amazing detail. Says food and drop items.

Okay, I'm a little confused about "Inspirit" -- I get when it happens to me, but does it just randomly happen to the enemy Yokai my Yokai are attacking?

Yes, think of it like confusion from Pokémon. Your Yokai might fall asleep or attack its fellow team members, etc.

Just beat Duwheel, booyah!

I bought this on a whim and I'm really enjoying it. Especially the battle system.

Just fought
Sproink
. Maybe I'm a tad underleveled, but it was a fairly difficult and engaging fight.

Once the battle system clicks, it's...actually pretty awesome.

Haven't had any issues recruiting Yo-Kai either, maybe I'm just getting lucky. Haven't been using food on them either.
Take em out the hood, keep em looking good / but I don't f'ing feed em

Really digging the modern suburban Japanese setting too.

I just got Shogunyan, so I guess I'm kicking poor Baddinyan out of my team. It's funny because I just watched the new episode of the show, which features Shogunyan. I didn't realize you could get the Legend Yo-kai before the post-game.

I spotted my first piece of Yokai merchandise in the wild, a dude wearing a Whisper t-shirt! He looked like he probably worked at Game Stop though, so I guess they're wearing it to promote the game.

Huh, that's way less than I thought...but doesn't include Fusion Evolutions. Some of those surprise me because they didn't seem like they would evolve.

But are you sure that's all of them? Because I recall a few more like I don't see Negatibuzz who I know evolves.

Some Yokai only evolve through fusion items. Chansin can evolve into either three; Sheen, Snee and Gleam. But you need either on the three swords, with Gleam's being the hardest to get.

So in kind of on the fence on buying this game. I played the demo but felt, and heard, that it didnt really repersent the entire game. I personally really love SMT and love Pokemon but really dislike the major in depth stuff about it and have honestly gotten tired of the games as of late. Should i buy this game?

I think you'll like this game.

I didn't see anyone mention this, but you can fast forward through battles by holding X. Saves a lot of time.

After playing the game for 10 hours, some serious flaws in the game have made themselves apparent:
  • Obtaining new Yo-Kai is extremely non-deterministic. Even if I give them their favorite food, that's no guarantee I will get one. Sometimes I feed one Yo-Kai their favorite food and another Yo-Kai will ask to join me. Makes no sense. At least with a Pokeball, I can see whether a capture succeed or fails and understand why.
  • Traveling around the game world sucks. The map sucks. I cannot look up where places are.
  • I have no power over how Yo-Kai are generated in the game world. If I want to capture Noway in Uptown Springdale and no bushes or cars seem to be flagged for Yo-Kai at that level. I am screwed. Back alleys and caves, etc. are more consistent.
  • I received the story quest to be at the construction site at night. There is a C door block. I only have a D-Watch. I go to the shop, he gives me a quest to defeat 3 Yo-Kai in 3 different places. I have no idea where these places are, the map won't tell me, I cannot force the arrow to follow that quest (that I am aware of). I ran around on my bike for an hour, never could find them. I shouldn't have to go online and look shit up to get farther in the game.
  • As far as combat goes, there is a serious disconnect between autobattle and soultimate moves (and item usage). Timing is a big problem. When I enter battle and want to catch a certain Yo-Kai. I first target it to feed it something and by the time I get to the menu to feed it its favorite food, my guys have auto-killed it. There is nothing more annoying than finishing the mini-game for a soultimate move only to have it cancelled because your dudes just punched and killed the last guy.
  • Why so many goddamn Getaway Plushes? I could open my own store selling these things as often as I get them. Talismans too. Just too damn many of them.

Go into menu and then quests. Hit X or map on the touch screen and it will show you where to go. Unfortunately it doesn't place a waypoint in-game so I had to pull it up a few times to find the places, so it's still a flaw. But beats exploring randomly or having to go online and look it up.

Yeah, I had that issue my first playthrough. It feels odd the things they emphasize on the tutorial.
Also I unlocked the Infinite Inferno. The floor 1 boss kicked my butt. Guess I have to grind to level 70.

Thank you. That will help a great deal. Some quests have question marks on the map, though. They need to come up with a better system.

Keep playing, You will eventually unlock something akin to fast travel

When you enter the battle screen, you can give food to the you-kai first before you click on "fight" aka "A button", so that way your teammate wont kill the enemy first.

Also the food will always go to the yo-kai that favors it, so there no need for targeting. Well, except if all 3 yo-kai have the same favorite food, then it goes to the middle yo-kai.

Do you speed up the battle? Cause that might be the reason why you feel there is a disconnection? Or maybe you are over level? Cause I feel the battle is pretty slow without the speed up IMO.

Be careful though, because if you use a Soultimate where you have to hit the orbs when on fast-forward, they move way too fast and are impossible to hit.

Posting this here because my Google is weak
I seriously can't find the answer though

Do Yo-Kai transfer between games? So when Yo-Kai 2 comes out over here (hopefully), will I need to keep this first game to transfer my "'mons" into the second one? Or does it reset each time?

Hoping someone knows the answer to this, because there are already the sequels in Japan but I can't find any information on if/how mon transferring works.

You can't transfer your Yokai from 1 to 2.

In 2 you can select a quest and then on the bottom screen it'll have blue arrows showing you where you need to go. So like the red arrows but for quests. You also get fast travel much earlier than in 1, which is nice.

For Yo-Kai in places like trees, cars, etc., find one close to an exit to another map/building/etc., anything that will cause loading. And then just check the tree, car, etc., and if the watch isn't the right rank then leave and reenter.

Honestly it's kinda sad to say but so far actually befriending Yo-Kai is the least fun part of the game.
Anything 3-star or below (B3-NK1) is very frustrating. If only the most expensive food was not so expensive because my chances are already crap.
I suggest having Casnuva in your team since his ability is increasing the chance of Yokai befriending you.
He helps, but still is a pain. Do skills stack I wonder?

Reading the guide, I think I have my ideal team...
Kyubi: Attack
Robonyan: Defense
Bloominoko: Inspirit/Good Fortune
Papa Bolt: Less Loafing
Casanova & Cynake: For Grinding / Gilgaros & Elder Bloom: For Battling

When do you get him? I'm still on the Kappa segment, so much to do.

I'm getting tired of fighting these Enefly and pumping them full of Soul Tea and yet not getting those little bitches to befriend me.

Edit: of course the fight where I forget to feed it it joins me. Lmao

I also feel bad now because I often press A so fast that I skip the voice clips for the Yo-Kai :(

At the abandoned hospital, it has a A ranked door but there's vines on the wall on the left to climb to get pass the door.

So, I'm my current obsession with this game is trying to get my hands on a Monkey Bracelet (iirc) to stop evolution on my Cadin. Anyone successfully get one of those from Jungle Hunters that could tell me where to get the cow fish and stag beetles? I can't find anything detailed on any Google or wiki search.

Caught Komajiro and Armsman first time both! And then it's been an hour and no Helmsman FUUUUUU

Still have to catch Enerfly and Heheheel for the quests too. RIP

Edit: complaining is the magic that turns dreams into reality. He joined me, now before I fuse them, I don't need them for any quests right?

Cheesed the Budwheel thing fight.

Down to Orochi, Dragon Lord, and Siro, with the latter two's high DEF and HP keeping them alive and dishing damage while Orochi pulled off soultimates.

And for the life of me I could NOT figure out the whisp thing. Ignored it completely.

Guys, is there any disadvantage to using the Exporbs? Like yo-kai who level up through Exporbs won't be as strong as yo-kai that level up through fighting and stuff?

Oh man, this is all true but it gave me a chuckle since (spoiler for the next watch rank)
the first B Gate I ran into is literally plopped in front of Eddie's door, foiling my progression. When i got to his house the sheer absurdity made me lol irl, Devs are some bastards Now I am walking around to do those 3 monsters and the game is still like "GO TO EDDIE'S HOUSE" ~_~

I do enjoy this game but as I know there is a second game in JP already I seriously hope some of the aforementioned by rando are addressed.

Ok, what's the OFFICIAL word on the Crank-a-Kai? Reddit uses "they are predetermined rewards" and "the outcome changes every day" interchangeably.
