Yoichi Wada Has A Plan For The Future Of Deus Ex

If Square Enix brings some garbage JRPG bishy weeaboo moe angsty stupid douchebaggery into my Deus Ex, there will be hell to pay.
Deus Ex: now written by Motomu Toriyama. Ending theme "My Robot Hands", by Leona Lewis.
Or a story that completely sucks balls with no payoff when you achieve your objective. This goes for both
Reed and her team, and the goddamn almost non-existent ending to the game. Also: Little to no character development.

Yeah, as much as I enjoyed a good portion of the game, it's not without some huge flaws. I'm ambivalent on how Thief 4 will turn out.
The Deus Ex team and the Thief 4 team are completely different people within Eidos Montreal.

For all the goodwill gained that DXHR in providing various methods of approaching a problem it also undermined itself by making the solutions repetitive and tedious. Try making a deus ex game without vents and crates, try giving us abilities that arent half extremely useful and the rest absolutely useless, and design encounters so that they arent exercises in frustration and maybe you'll get a great game from that effort.

Ah. I had no idea. Well, it's still a Thief game in new hands. We'll see how it turns out.

I wouldn't mind Deus Ex JRPG. Or some crossover with Final Fantasy series.

If by "JRPG", you mean a turn-based, party-based battle system, and in a 1st-person perspective (think Wizardry 8), whilst keeping the bleak, sci-fi setting - then yes... On the other hand, the Final Fantasy crossover is most definitely a no-no.

Square Enix Japan needs to stay the fuck away from Deus ex.

I never asked for this.

What's with all the Japan hate going on in here?

I blame Nomura for most of the bad things dealing with Square Enix anyway.

You have no idea what you're talking about. If anything, he's the only one doing any GOOD at S-E Japan lately.

As much of a knee jerk feeling as hearing "Yoichi Wada has plans for Deus Ex" has, I think it's when we hear something like "Tetsuya Nomura has plans for Deus Ex" that we go into panic.

Well until they make a Deus Ex Portable they can just keep letting Eidos do what they do.
I would want this on Vita. Seriously. Maybe 3DS, but anything else wouldn't be very desirable.

I'd rather the latter than the former.
I mean, at least Nomura would make the conspiracy story trippy as hell.
JC DENTON IS ACTUALLY HIS OWN FATHER WHO IS ACTUALLY AN OLD GUY THAT STEALS THE SOULS OF YOUNG WOMEN, ONE OF THEM BEING HIS OWN MOTHER.

Well, that IS a good point, but if I want to see any craziness from the established Japanese staff it'd be from Kawazu. Most convoluted First Person game ever!

I would argue that outside of Deus Ex 3 and Just Cause 2 to an extent, Eidos hasn't been that great either.

HES GOT ALL THESE "PLANS" BUT HE DON'T TELL ME NONE OF 'EM

...Uh that's an interest thing to say. What other games did they put out? Kane and Lynch 1 & 2 which the sequel got a lot less flack than the original, Hitman Blood Money, Tomb Raider which has a lot of press pop, and published Batman Arkham Asylum

Compared to Square enix's... What, exactly?

Real shit I think Nomura's style could translate well into a cyberpunk setting. Just keep him somewhat restrained.

I see them as on an upward spiral. But we'll see how Tomb Raider and the next Thief turn out.

It's crazy to think this is the one undisputed great title Square has released on a current-gen console.
As much as I enjoyed it (one of the most likely GOTY candidates for me), at least several people in this thread have disputed it.

Worked for FFVII (as it stands, I thought the things involving Midgar and the conflict with Shinra were much more interesting than all of the Sephiroth focus that followed).

Yeah, SE Japan needs to worry about their fuckups in their own division. No need to bring Deus Ex down with you. Stay away.

Lately. Blood Money was 6 years ago.
Unfortunately for them, they didn't hold on to Batman, and now Warner Bros. has the sequel.

I read something about Wada loving Heavy Rain and thought it was the future of gaming :O
Maybe Deus Ex will be influenced by Heavy Rain.
Press X to I never asked for this

The next game will be coming out within six months. It will ship within six months. My team will keep you updated within six months.

Like in FFVII? I'd love to have a game with that seem FEEL that Midgar had, maybe Arkham City will pull it off actually?

Yeah pretty much this, they're one of the better studios this gen even with shit games like the Kane and Lynch's. The 3 tomb raider games earlier this gen and the downloadable one a year or two ago was really good too. SE hasn't put out anything good this gen on consoles, and I don't give a shit about handhelds.

Basically they should do whatever they do over there in Japan and leave Eidos alone. It was nice of Wada to grant a delay but that's about as far as his power should go with them. Money.

Kagari said:

Wouldn't this be unfortunately for SE? Wada didn't bite on buying Rocksteady.

I was trying to be another sheep in this thread as a majority of users in here continue to ignore Nirolak and Mama Robotnik while posting their knee-jerk reactions.

but really I'm not involved with SE and their workings enough to attribute him with all their peculiarities this Gen. And based on what Nirolak has said he might have even been a benefit to this series.

Tomb Raider: Anniversary (2007) and Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light (2010)

They've been fine with handhelds.

Going from one of home console's biggest players to almost handheld-only is not a very glorious move IMO... =/

(Granted, the future does look a bit brighter)

I knew something was missing from Human Revolution and that something was JPOP.

Nah, I'm glad he has plans. I'd like to see more Deus Ex by the Eidos team.
