Yoichi Wada Has A Plan For The Future Of Deus Ex

If Square Enix brings some garbage JRPG bishy weeaboo moe angsty stupid douchebaggery into my Deus Ex, there will be hell to pay.

Personally, I'd much prefer that to the regular Deus Ex series.

I don't think Wada will do anything to hurt Deus Ex. He's a businessman, he knows there is money to be made with Deus Ex. But if Nomura wants to start designing for Deux Ex, that's another story...

more Deus Ex will happen. Eidos Montreal already commented a few times before that more is definitely happening, it's just a matter of when.

i personally would like more DLC for a bit and then see Thief 4 before we return to detroit for more dumpster tossing.

Really? I normally prefer JRPGs, but I see nothing wrong with DX as a series, Invisible War aside. In fact, DX:HR was just what I was looking for in a game, WRPG or otherwise.

That comment was extreme (and most certainly steeped in hyperbole if applied to all JRPGs), but I would be lying if I said I didn't feel that it summed up what games like FFXIII and XIII-2 (or pretty much anything written by Motomu Toriyama) represent.

Would it be possible to at least get a Deus Ex that has a palette that consists of more colors than piss yellow?

I don't like Toriyama much either but the anti-SE, anti Japanese bias on GAF is sooooo massive nowadays, I feel like the other side needs some representation.

Complaints about the prevalence of the "piss filter" in DX:HR's environments are just as overblown.

At this point, Wada having a plan for anything worries me.

I came here to post this. I'm very happy Deus Ex HR did well, and I hope the team have a great rest.

The best thing Wada can do is say, "I'm letting them get on with it". Anything else will have us all worried.

If Japan was still the leading force in the games industry, you probably wouldn't see what you're seeing (I think you're blowing it way out of proportion though, dudebro games gets ragged on here FAR more than any jrpg). But it's not, the west is. So if people are dissatisfied, or have a bias, it comes as no surprise to me to be honest. if there's a change in peoples attitudes, its likely in reponse to the current state of the industry.

Wow... what's with all the Deus Ex hate?

I thought the game was great! Aside from the boss fights the game felt great to me and I would love for them to continue creating new stories in the Deus Ex universe.

DXHR is the best thing I've played all year - very fun and just what the doctor ordered. That includes Red Dead Redemption (2010, I know, but I played it this year) which I thought had major pacing and gameplay issues compared to DXHR. Ignore the hate, Human Rev is a beautiful game.

Hardly anyone's been hating on it here. It's a pretty well loved game on Gaf, it's Wada and SE people are hating on :P

I don't know if you've seen the credits of the main game, but there were a lot of production babies, so I think people want to spend some time with their families and take some time off. That's pretty much where we are right now.
I do want another game, but these guys have definitely earned their time off. Let them have a break first.

Hopefully this means Deus Ex is becoming one of their main franchisees and that a sequel will have much more time, effort, and resources behind it. HR was ok, but a bit annoyingly frustrating and not exactly full of choice as I was lead to believe. Hopefully they can iron out the kinks and make a better game.
